Our family of 4 with lots of suitcases will do Uber from MCO to the Hard Rock Hotel at Universal on a Thursday evening. On Sunday we will go from Hard Rock to CBR in 2 pairs- one first thing in the morning and one mid-afternoon. Finally, we will take an Uber from CBR back to MCO for our flight back home (booooooo!) on a Saturday. I have done Uber a few times but never in Orlando and not with this much luggage. Any tips?

I think two Uber XLs. Isn’t the capacity decreased due to COVID (no riding in the front seat).

have you considered (at least for the transfer to the hotel) a private transportation company? Tony Hinds is mentioned a lot here on the boards

Rider capacity for XL will be five with COVID restrictions

Correct, but depending on the luggage OP might need an XL and an X, or even two XLs.

With no rider allowed in the front seat, four passengers will take up both the second and third row of the vehicle, and that's not going to leave enough room for luggage.

Also, Lyft's larger vehicle is also called XL now. Lyft copies well.

If you have any trouble with Uber, check the front desk (planning desk I think it might be called?) at Hard Rock. They provided us with their recommended transportation company's contact information. The Uber rates and wait times on Sunday afternoon were ridiculous. We instead called the number on the paper and the driver was there in 10 minutes.

We still don’t know how many suitcases “lots” is. A lot of people here post about their “big group” and it’s like 6 people.

We have a similar situation with our traveling party of 5 with 7 pieces of luggage and each of us will have a backpack. We are going from MCO to Hardrock on a Friday and then on Saturday to POFQ (hopefully) and then to MCO on the following Friday. After comparing all of the options we've decided to rent a vehicle that will accommodate the people and the luggage. We have no plans during the week to leave the Disney bubble once we arrive at WDW. But our trip is planned for May 2022 when hopefully the cost of renting will have gone down.

I would do a car service for mco> hard rock and cbr> mco. I hate leaving us getting to the airport on hopes and dreams that an Uber will be ready when we need it.

I highly recommend booking with a car service for several reasons:
1. The car service will be there at the time you want, and they're usually even a few minutes early. There's no waiting for a car to arrive, like you'd have to do with Uber or Lyft.
2. The driver will, depending on the company, meet you at baggage claim and escort you out to the car, and help with your luggage.
3. Car services generally have several types of vehicles available, for parties of different sizes, with varying amounts of luggage space. They'll be able to help you select the right size of vehicle to fit all of you plus all of your luggage.
4. Many of the car services in the Orlando area offer a free grocery stop on the way to your resort if you'd like one.

My apologies. My original post stated we are a family of 4. "Lots" for our group means 6-8 full size suitcases plus 4 carry on bags and then a few personal items/ bags. Unfortunately it is apparently impossible for our family to go anywhere with only one suitcase each.

I decided to follow the advice of several and book Tony's. Can anyone recommend an appropriate tip for the driver? The rates are: $60 from MCO to Hard Rock, $50 x 2 for our 2 pairs from Hard Rock to CBR, then $70 for CBR to MCO.

I think you made a wise choice, and you also got good prices. The tip is purely personal, but I would probably tip $10 for each of the $50 fares and $15-$20 for the larger fares. Your drivers are going to be loading and unloading a lot of bags.

I feel you on the luggage. DW and DD can't go overnight without a large full-size suitcase and another smaller bag each. It's tough being a girl! Sometimes I think I should rent a dump truck for weekend trips!
