Naw. Companies partner all the time when it serves their interest -- for example, Disney and Lyft partnering on MinnieVan.

Uber's new CEO was the longtime CEO of Expedia, and he is out to make Uber the Expedia of transportation. His dream is for us to use the Uber app for any kind of transportation beyond walking.

They're already doing rideshare worldwide, taxi's and limos in numerous cities, food delivery in many cities, and they've bought at least one rental bicycle company and one electric scooter company. They're also researching partnering with public transportation systems for buses, trains, etc.
