U 2 hot to trot, or walk, or ride rides or...?

The adult children, dh & I have decided we would like to try Jelly Rolls. It means putting DD#2 in one of the child care centers, but I honestly think she will love this. So, I decided we would do this. I called dvc (which is where we usually make our dining ressies through if doing it by phone. I asked if I could make the Child care reservation through them. The woman told me that in the 5 years she has been working this job, this is the first time anyone ever requested that. I find that odd. Then she tried to make the ressie per my request from 7-11pm. However, she told me the system wouldn't let her. That it would only allow her to make it for 1 hour. This I found even stranger. Then she told me it was probably because the center closed at 7. To this I was :confused3 . I only replied, "oh". But I was thinking, why would a child care center close at 7pm ...especially in Disney? She must have read my silence, because she began to explain her thought process. Her explanation was that most children don't stay up very late. :lmao: Obviously hasn't met my child! More than once I have tucked her in. Gone to bed, she was reading in her bed. I tell her it is time to go to sleep. About an hour later, I awake to her telling me she can't sleep. I digress..... So, after she researched and researched, I advised her I would try again another day as I had to go get my DD from school. I really thought this was going to be a quick reservation.

I will leave you with this...... I did take a moment to do the survey at the end of this experience.

Now back to cleaning. Sunday is DS#2 graduation party. Rain is expected. After what OK has had to deal with, I will not complain about the rain. We have rented a canopy. (although I wish I went with the one with walls).

I tried ordering a cake for DS. I wanted it to be the shape of a graduation cap with mickey mouse ears on it. Unfortunately, I waited too long and wasn't able to get one. So, I have been trying to make one for him myself. I went on youtube and found how to make one. I am not optimistic about the outcome, but atleast he will know I tried. In teh meantime, I went to Stop & Shop and ordered him a sheet cake. They only had yellow or chocolate. He likes white. So I made him a white cake & ordered the yellow/choco one. Atleast the white one will taste good. pixiedust: I hope. :thumbsup2

I hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend. God Bless all those who's lives were changed forever serving this country of ours. And their families. And to all who paid the ultimate sacrifice... Rest In Peace. May the loved ones left behind experience peace, love, and eventually joy again.
And for those who are remembering loved ones that have left us in ways other than serving this country, may our hearts be lifted by sweet memories this weekend, as we too remember.

Hmm....what an interesting and VERY non-helpful conversation you had with that lady from DVC....

Here is a link to the website for the one we are using - Sandcastle Club. It states on the website that they are open til 12 a.m. so you should be fine. It's also right by Jellyrolls if you want to leave DD at this one. I would call the number on this page so that you actually speak to someone who has an idea of what's going on. :thumbsup2

I'm DS will enjoy his graduation party and I can't wait to see pictures of the cake! You are more talented than you give yourself credit for!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Brilliant about the Sand Castle club Bridget that should help Dee alot

Jelly Rolls haven't been in years but great fun

Hoping no rain Sunday for your party and can't wait to see pictures take plenty especially looking forward to seeing the cake :)

Beautiful sentiments about Memorial Day Very touching In 2004 a former boss and friend of ours lost his son Nate in Iraq He was the first Coast guardsman killed in action since Vietnam a hell of a way to make history :sad2: he is very much missed

I hope all the prep work for the grad party goes well... I am very much looking forward to seeing the cake you make - I bet it will be fantastic!!

Glad you were able to get some daycare info from the others... we have never used it in Disney - so I couldn't get any advice whatsoever.

Okay, I REALLY have to get back to cleaning, but a quick update first. Any excuse not to clean. ;)

yes, it was....interesting.

thank you. you will see at the bottom of this post more about it. But, I will use the link to find other info as well.

:rotfl2: thank you. but, ....wait until you see this cake. hahaha....it will be for family only. :confused3
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
thank you. you too!

yes indeed

We have talked about it ever since the triplets turned 21. I hope I can enjoy it.

I will try to remember to tak alot of pictures. BUT, I think the cake will only serve to give you all a good giggle. Which is within itself useful.

how heartbreaking. I hold Veterans in great regard. My Dad lost his hearing due to serving in WWII. My brother served in Vietnam. He was stationed in Thailand. There are many ways to be injured. His is an invisible injury, unless you knew him before & after.

I hope all the prep work for the grad party goes well... I am very much looking forward to seeing the cake you make - I bet it will be fantastic!!
You all will get a good laugh. But, it was a learning experience. Next time ...and there will be a next time... I will do a little better, then better still the time after that. For now, it is a source of giggles.

Glad you were able to get some daycare info from the others... we have never used it in Disney - so I couldn't get any advice whatsoever.

D~

So, back to trying to make reservations for my daughter for the child care center. Bridget - it was the Sandcastle Club I was looking into. So, I stayed on the line to do the survey. I was kind, I said the woman was trying to find the information but seemed confused by it, or she just didn't have enough information at her disposal. I did request a call back. When the cm called me back I explained the original cm was very pleasant and sincerely was trying to help me. I als said it was I who had to hang up due to having to go get my daughter. This representative...Tammy, was very helpful. She took my information. Called me back and asked if I was free to talk, since I had mentioned this was a surprise for DD. She made the reservation for me. So, we have the 7-11 slot reserved for my daughter. The plan is....walk to the Sandcastle club from the BWV, walk back to boardwalk & go to Jellyrolls, then walk back to get DD.
I am going to look into the link that Bridget gave me, as I would like to know some more details of Sandcastle. Also, Bridget, I am very excited to hear how your boys like it.

Now back to cleaning.

Peace to all for this Memorial Day Weekend.

Thank you for easing my "meltdown" yesterday I put it here so anyone who didn't already know how special you are, well now they do

Love the BW, SC, JR plans and seems like a perfect solution and a fun night for all ( how's that feel like a detective :rotfl:)

OK you MUST have finished cleaning by now ( and if not the heck with it take a break) your audience asks, nee DEMANDS, grad party pictures Got to see the cake !! Did it rain ? Did it stay sunny? D E T A I L S popcorn::popcorn::

Okay, I need to upload the pictures then I will give you all a laugh with the cake. But, I must warn you. one of our guests saw a peek of it and thought my youngest made it. :lmao: So, be forewarned. And I will not be offended if you laugh. It was my very first try with fondant. :confused3

Well, while I am waiting for the pictures to load on to photobucket, I will give you the rundown on the party.

So, since DS#2 decided a party over the dinner, we planned one completely 2 weeks. We invited about 40 people and about 35 showed up. Since spring time in our area it my favorite time of year we decided to have it outside. We have a humble but large enough backyard to accomodate that amount of people easily. We decided a cookout. hamburgs, hot dogs, chicken, sausage with peppers & onions, corn on the cob, potato salad, fruit salad, garden salad, chips and of course baked goods for dessert. We picked up some beer & wine, but none of our guests are much of drinkers. Our biggest decision was whether to rent a canopy tent or not. My mother in law is 80 (well in about 6 days she will be. :) ), and the sun bothers her, so..... we priced tents....then that led to pricing rental chairs, which of course led to tables. In the end we decided it can get pretty hot late May, so we rented the tent "package" which came with 4 round tables and 32 chairs. Perfect. Well, it would have been IF...........

it wasn't about 50 degrees out and overcast. Turned out the people who were sitting under the tent kept pulling their chairs over to the edge of the tent to get the few peeks of sun that we had, just to warm themselves up. The day before was horrible rains, so I was just pleased the rains held off.
My MIL spent the entire time she was here in the kitchen. Which was sad, but I certainly understand. It was cold for us....dare I say....young people. let alone someone who has medical issues & is 80. She was pleased that my son sat with her for a little while, as did each of our friends that have known her for so many years. My SIL who drove her here sat with her as well.
All in all it was a nice day. My son was very very grateful & thanked DH & I many times over. That alone was worth it. I have been very tired ever since, and my vertigo, has been less than stellar, but I am happy I was able to do it. And look forward to doing it for the other two in the winter when they each have completed their studies & have degrees in hand.

Now, let me go check how that photo is loading....

So.... get your tissues out to laugh.... AND I am happy to bring you this laughter. I had a great deal of laughs creating it, and I call it my practice run. By the time DD#2 graduates, I should have it down pat. :lmao:

Of course it did get (believe it or not) even worse, because I tried to put his name on the bottom & it came out horrible. I used the canned icing & the tip was way too thick for such a small writting area! We had a lot of laughs about it though. God bless DS#2 & DD#1's hearts...they said they thought it was very nice. DS appreciated I tried. And DD I think was rather like ahhh Mom...aren't you just so sweet....you have no talent at all, yet you keep trying. :rotfl: They don't really think that, they appreciate my shirts, and some other stuff I do, but all in all, I do get in over my head craft wise. :rotfl2:

I will try again, and you all will get to see the pictures. If I remember.

So, on a personal note. I forgot DD#2 had a presentation tonight, and had to be at a middle school drama practice. She won't be in middle school until next year, but we were invited to see the practice to entice her to join drama next year. She, her friend, her friends mom & I went. It was fun. Then get home, let her grab a quick bite, then walk to her school for her presentation on Abe Lincoln & the Lincoln Monument. She & her partner did a GREAT job!! All the parents were commenting. Even the principal stopped us to comment on how animated they both were. They had decided it wasn't enough to "show" their presentation, so DD was Abe & her friend was John Wilkes Booth. DD spoke a little of Lincolns birth family, who he married & how tall he was & how his wife was supperstitious. Her friend spoke of why Booth assassinated Lincoln, and when. I was very proud of both of them. Of course I missed a wake of DH friends sister. But, my children have to come first. DH went to the wake, then met up with us after.

Well, that pretty much sums up any update I have.

And Ruthie..... no sweat. Hope your day is better today.

One more picture....

DS#2 favorite hat at the moment.

Ahh good kids good job, sweet with the MIL being there and the attention she got :goodvibes sounds like you had a great time, rain_shine_overcast no matter

I will NOT laugh at your cake well maybe a little but it will be WITH you of course, can't remember ever even baking a cake let alone tackling fondant :scared1: and I only know what THAT is when I used to watch the TV show w/Buddy from New Jersey He always fascinated me

Hope Photobucket cooperates I have to go night night :cloud9: alarm is going off at 5, plan to leave here at 7:15-7:30 for the job at 9:30  will call Fred when I get out of the car and he will "walk it with me" Isn't that great !

Will check in morning for your update ( no further news Aunt Mary wait till I see my cousin :headache:)

Oh we were posting at same time, good let me scroll back and I will come back !)

hehehe :lmao: I told you!::yes:: Dh used to watch that show. I always said they were "cheating" because they used fondant. Ah.... won't be saying that anymore. :happytv:
Thank you for the condolences. She was too young. Kidney disease. Was on dialysis, but couldn't last for a transplant. I think she was 56.

Awwww, I love it!!!! It was definitely made with love!!!! AND it's probably A LOT better than any "hat" I could make!

I'm glad he had a great time!

It was fun to try. You all should have seen it when I had the mickey ears on it. hehehe Even the kids mentioned like "like it better without the ..ah...ears". :rotfl2: Bridget, I'm sure you could do this if you tried.

I think the cake is awesome! You definately did a much better job than I could ever do!

Love DS's hat too!

D~

thanks for the comments on the cake ladies. The best part of it, was a graduation tassle I picked up at a scrap booking display, but you can't even see it in this picture. I must say as much of an epic failure the cake decorating was, it tasted DELICIOUS!! which was part of the issue with frosting it...it was too moist, it kept falling apart. :rotfl: Like I say, the taste was yummy!:goodvibes
And yes we all love the graduation mickey hat.

Now, today was the day I "skyped" with Jetblue. If anyone doesn't know what sykpe is, it is like a video chat on the computer.
In review, I contacted via email JB regarding an associate I had that helped me fix an error I made on the day I was to go make final arrangements for my Dad. JB recently contacted me & I agreed to do a skype that they could use for training purposes. so, today was the day. I recruited my daughter to help. Good thing too, I was lost. Between she & the JB rep Bryan, I was on skype in no time telling my story. It took only a few minutes, but I was so nervous. I kept playing with my hands on my lap. Bryan was very patient and kind. They told me ahead of time they may edit it, which I certainly hope they do to make my nerves seem less.
So, that was my day in the limelight. Of course my nerves only intensified when he mentioned that Miriam may be in the audience watching this. It was weird, but I was happy to help a company I honestly respect.

Not much more on the trip planning front. I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Was Miriam the one who was so unhelpful?

hmm... I can't remember. I will have to check my notes. The one I wrote about was at Jetblue airlines. That Miriam was AWESOME! Now you have me thinking....it was an M name with Disney when I tried to make the child care center ressies. Maybe Meridith. I will have to see if I noted it. hmmm... That would be weird.
Happy summer Bridget!!!!

Tonight DD#2 and I walked up to see DS#1 escort his gf to her senior prom. They do a "grand march" which is very nice. They announce each couple & they parade in front of the bleachers. They also have a dance for the parents with the senior student. I was very proud of my son, as his gf danced with her Dad my son asked gf's stepmom to dance. :) What a well mannered young man I have. I must admit, it was weird seeing him dancing with someone elses mom though. I think I've changed my mind.... I don't ever want my children to get married. JK, I just want them to be happy.

I think since it is just me & the youngest, we will walk down the street to the sandwich shop for dinner. :goodvibes

Now, now, about the title of this thread.... 2 hot 2 ...anything. that is how it feels here today. Sunday was in the low 50's today it hit 93. New England weather.
The heat is bothering all of us pretty bad. I am hoping it is only because it changed so quickly that our bodies didn't have a chance to adjust. I am REALLY REALLY hoping I did not make a mistake planning a trip to FLA in AUGUST!!! Especially with DH pushing me in the wheelchair.

So, opinions again.... any former New Englanders? Did August bother you terribly vacationing in WDW? Ruthie? how bad was it for you to adjust to the August climate from the north?

I have been purchasing a few travel items. Anyone care to guess what I picked up the other day at Kmart?

Yesterday I created each of the "kids" their own agendas. This was pretty necessary as they all have slightly different agendas from each other & us.
I got a little fancy with them...atleast fancy for me. But, certainly not as fancy as D~. :woohoo: But, I am not sure how to post them on here from my windows7 document. So, you may all see the boring undecorated versions. Also, not sure if I will print the fancy versions, as that will eat up alot of ink, and ....just not sure they will appreciate it the way I do.
I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I am very excited to go see my nephew preform his comedy routine tomorrow night. He has been trying to break into the comedy scene for about 5 years. He is very funny. AND, he is sweet enough to keep his act clean when he knows I am showing up. Well...relatively clean. :rolleyes1
Happy weekend everyone.
D~ I hope you all have managed to evade the police. ;)
