U 2 hot to trot, or walk, or ride rides or...?

See what did we tell you ??? Good going with the savings on car & tickets !!:yay: Sorry I knew this was going to be a busy stupid week so I will check in when I can :flower3:

Yay for getting tickets...

I still have to do that... But I have to pay my trip off first... Then tickets... Then photopass +... Then everything else...

Hopefully you can talk DS into staying more than 3 days...

Thank you both! I think I will be a little nervous about using mousesaver/undercouver tourist until I actually am using the tickets & am riding in the rental car.

I have very mixed feelings about Ds extending his stay. On one hand he is being very responsible not wanting to miss work or school. but on the other hand, he is going to be missing out on some neat stuff. And of course I will miss him. I love when the entire family is together. :goodvibes

Now... due to a certain someone... I don't say any names....:rolleyes1 I desperately want to do the Dessert party on the 21st. BUT, I just don't know if I can justify the cost for so many of us. I still have to replenish the money I used to get the extra dvc points. Plus, if DS decides to stay longer I would pay the difference in changing his flights, since I am the one pushing it. Time will tell. You all know T I M E. .... Things I Must Earn. :bitelip:

Well, I need to start by mentioning that I have a VERY happy household this morning. Although everyone is very very tired, they are happy because (sorry any Penguin fans) the Bruins won last night!!! IF they win Friday they will have swept the series. I'm not a huge hockey fan. I watch because I am a fan of people that are hockey fans. That said, I must say last nights game was incredible. Both teams were remarkable. 95 minutes of hockey!! double overtime! just unreal. Final score 2-1. No shame by either team.

Okay, now about our trip. My goal was to get 3 things done today.
1) cancel the extra reservation I made in error. That would give me a little over $130. back in my bank account. Which in my little head :upsidedowsomehow justified me making.....
2) dessert party reservations.

Even though at the price I saw listed of about $22. pp X our group would be way more than the $130, I decided to do it. So, those were the two things I had on my trip to do list. (I should probably put clean the house on that list, then it may actually get done)
So, I helped get DD#2 (or the little one as Ruthie calls her. ;) ) off to school. Twin day today so I made her & her friend matching shirts. And by "made" I mean painted words on them. :rotfl:
Anyway, I got home & had my coffee in front of me & called disney to cancel my incorrect reservation. I spoke with Angel and she was wonderful. All set money will be back in my account soon. Great. She transferred me to dining
I AGAIN checked on availability of adding DS#1 to our BoG reservation, but of course no availability. That's okay, still hoping they will let us sneak him in on our ADR. Then I asked about the MK Firework dessert party for the 21st. And.... nope. She asked if there were any other days I was interested in. Since in the back of my mind I was thinking I could bump into D~ there, I said no. Don't be scared D~:scared: I'm not stalking. :rotfl: There were other very good reasons I said no too. ;)
So, for now things will stay the same. Although I did talk to DS#2 he thought maybe the dessert party later in the week would be better. Which I had begun to think too. For now, I am actually a bit relieved there wasn't availability. It would have just been more money I had to replenish.
I must say, I am getting excited. I hate that I can't do a countdown calendar for DD. But, in the long run I think the surprise will be better.

Speaking of replenishing funds... tonight we have to go buy a new lawn mower. Ours was terminally ill for a long time and finally we must put it to rest. DS#1 had the Bill Cosby way of mowing. You all probably are familiar with that (atleast if there is a man in your life), The thought process goes something like this...imagine bubble above my sons head, "If I REALLY mess up mowing the lawn, they will NEVER ask me to mow again". Well, the first time he broke the frame of the lawn mower we thought hmmm.... that must have been one heck of a rock. We replaced the mower with a brand new one. 2nd time mowing with the new mower (and the first with it was DH), BAM. We found out the "rock" he hit. It is a cast iron garbage shoot cover. Our house was built in 1863. And yes, I am old enough to vaguely remember "garbage men who actually came and emptied your garbage shoots. So, now that we know what he is hitting we very much want to "dope slap" him in the head. Yeah, in the open, by the swing set is the garbage shoot. HE IS VERY MUCH AWARE IT IS THERE! No sense crying over spilled milk. Another bent frame, means another new mower. This third one we are not sure what he did (yes, we just bought cheaper and cheaper mowers, but still insisted he mow), It has kept running (barely) until now. That was about 3 years ago. So tonight we dip into the funds and we buy a new mower.

Well I hope everyone has a wonderful day filled with joy.

Dee

Don't be worried about the tickets you bought. We had season passes in 2011 and bought from undercover tourist for our son who joined us. The tickets arrived in two days and they worked like a charm once we got there. So, no worries there.

I love that you're thinking of going to the dessert party. Later in the week will be nice too. Your DS should decide soon if he is extending his stay so the flight change won't be as much maybe. If park tickets were the only consideration, you can always add days once you're at the park. But of course you are right, the airline is the biggie. Hope he decided to stay.

Oh my. Your DS is hard on lawn mowers! Um, maybe in the long run it would be better to give him a chore that would be less expensive if something goes wrong.:rolleyes1 Or charge him for the new mower???:rotfl: For us, it was the laundry and one of our sons. Ink pens in the laundry are not a pretty thing!

Have a great day and I'm glad your team won.:goodvibes

Thanks for the comforting words. I will be more at ease once the tickets are here. Honestly, then I will probably only worry about the minivan being available when we get there. Money of course is always an issue, but in the long run I think I am more worried about having the mini van available. I still haven't canceled the other reservation. I don't know why. Maybe once the ticket get here I will breathe easier & cancel the extra rental car ressie. :)
Yes, DS was forced to pay 1/2 of the last lawn mower. We thought that was fair. I don't know about this one. I don't let them do their own laundry, because I remember my Mom saying, I'll always do the laundry that way I know there are no pens, gum, etc. in the pockets & that my machine will not get overloaded or broken from abuse. But, I must admit I have missed a pen or two in the past. They have gotten better about empting their pockets since I started keeping the money I find in them. :thumbsup2 Disney funding. :cool1:
Yeah, DH took back the lawn mowing chore, once this mower was on the out, that's the only reason it lasted as long as it did.

I've used Undercover many times and have friends who have used them many times. They have great service! No need to worry about them.

I looked at the Alamo deal through them-even though I don't need tickets-but the deal seemed so great. Doesn't look like it will work for me though. I only want a car for part of my trip. Was hoping to return it to the Alamo rental at Dolphin. That's not an option with the undercover deal. I guess I'll just have to keep trying Alamo with different codes. Last year we rented a car in San Diego then drove to DL. When I first started looking a minivan was something like $850. I think I got it down to around $400. I haven't convinced myself I really need a car this year. We haven't rented in FL since 2004.

Thanks for the extra reassurance. I am feeling more and more at ease with each post. THANKS EVERYONE! :wave2:

In WDW related news.... DD#2 (aka the birthday girl), and I were having a conversation today. I showed her the post from BridgetR with the picture of BoG. I said, "look where my disboard friend is" as I pointed at the picture. She made a sad face & said she wants to go again. Then she added, but I would rather eat at Cinderella's castle. :rolleyes2 WAHATTTT? I asked why, and she said she didn't like her food that when we had lunch there. So, I said maybe we should try dinner next time. (as I wonder why I am talking her into preferring BoG that we have and ADR for 6 people when 7 will be there over CRT which at last check had a table for 7). She said no, because if she didn't like it it would end her day poorly. :scratchin Now, I don't know what to do. Most of the rest of us are all pretty excited to go to BoG. And I know she will be once she gets steak there. But... just making the CRT for 7 would be easier. But, I know she will love being able to say she had her birthday at Beasts castle. GEEEESHSSHHH why did she say this?! Will have to think about this one.

Now, onto shopping. We got our lawn mower. Of course our 2 foot high grass must wait as rain is expected tomrrow. And while we were there DH said he wanted to just price mattresses. Ours is over 19 years old, and it wasn't a good one to begin with. Neither of us are sleeping well lately & waking with a lot of aches & pains. So, we priced them. hmm... We were at Sears & they were having a 50% off sale, +extra 10%, free delivery & free disposal. So.... yup more to replenish. I have some things for sale on ebay. Well, DD does for me. So, if I get what I have started the bidding at, it should pay for about 1/2 of the mattress. Then, the older kids have volunteered to pay for the lawn mower for DH's bday/fathers day gift. So, really I made out good. So, I don't have much more than the cost of the lawnmower to replenish. And we will hopefully get a good night sleep starting in a couple of weeks. So, if I'm not on the dis in the middle of the night any more you all will know why. :cloud9:

MY take on things FWIW

1- leave BOG alone you have an extremely grateful little one you KNOW that & I wouldn't mention it again...as far as adr for 6 & need 7...well crossing my fingers for MUCH pixie dust on that issue

2-cancel the first ressie/car let it go....you are set & its fine

3-IF you can manage the dessert party $$ well worth it they put out quite a spread VERY yummy

4- I forget which # DS ? :confused3:rotfl2: but sit him down and get a decision
:hourglass:hourglass:hourglass its 6/7 already for goodness sakes

Thats it...sending love & prayers your way NOW get good sleep :cloud9:

I am going to keep BoG. Long story short, today was Childrens day in our house. You know, like Mothers Day, Fathers Day, Grandparents Day... DD decided there should be a childrens day. When everyone does what THEY want to do. No gifts, no cards, just do what DD wants to do. I have to admit, on mothers day I got to do what I wanted to do. Sleep late, eat out, relax, they cleaned (kinda). So, I let her have childrens day. I got up early, we watched tv, I made her Choco chip pancakes, we played Legos. Then it warmed up & she went in her pool while I sat beside her & talked. ( I have to admit, I did sneak in a couple of loads of laundry, with the excuse I had to go the bathroom, or answer the phone). Then when DH got home we asked her what she would like for dinner. Her answer? BoG!!!!!!! whoo hooo! This surprise might work after all!

I will cancel the original car ressie once I get the park tickets. I checked with the bank. The tickets/car were deducted on teh 4th. I imagine the tickets will come some time this week from what I have heard here.

I still am undecided on the dessert party. We'll see. but good to know it comes highly recommended.

The problem with DS(#1) is he is saying he doesn't want to stay longer. BUT, I really really want him to. I hate for him to miss out IF he is just coming home to pacify his GF. But, if he is coming home for school THAT is worth missing the extra days at Disney. If it is work... he can make up the extra day or two off the following week. It is not like he is scheduled every day all the time. Sometimes he only gets 3 days, other times he gets 6. But, ultimately it IS his decision. I want to sit him down with DH & maybe the other older kids and discuss what he will mind missing and what he won't mind missing. Then he can decide as an totally thoughtful decision.

Now, I am off to bed, "childrens day" just about did me in.

Sorry that I fell a little bit behind here Dee... It seems like this week went by way too fast!

Thanks for the extra reassurance. I am feeling more and more at ease with each post. THANKS EVERYONE! :wave2:

I need to agree with Ruthie on this one... I really think you should keep BoG... It will be so special just for your dd to have all of her family there - I am sure she will see past the "where she is" to know that her family loved her enough to come and share her special day with her... And that her mom has been keeping the secret for soooo long (kudos to you - I wouldn't be able to do it...)

Yay for the new lawnmower... Josh had to buy a new one a few years ago, and I have to admit it was a good purchase - as his back couldn't take push mowing anymore... Since then - I have graciously given all lawn caring chores up to him - and he doesn't seem to mind.

And I am so happy you were able to get a new mattress - nothing better than a good night's sleep. Let us know how it goes. :thumbsup2

thanks D~ Don't worry about getting behind on my PTR. Gosh you have sooo much going on in your life. BTW, I had a dream about your big auction. haha I didn't recognize any of the characters. :lmao: But.... I still wanted to buy a bag. My family & FRIENDS kept telling me to buy a key chain instead. :lmao: I don't even drive!!!! :lmao: Not sure what I ate before bed last night, but geesh!

DH didn't get a ride around. I mentioned it, but he said he needs more excersise not less.

I can't wait until the new mattress is delivered. couple of weeks. I need sleep.

We are going to keep BoG.

Now, on with the updates.
I spoke with DS#1. He is determined he is only spending 2 nights, 3 days. He is very concerned about saving for his fall tuition. I sincerely can not argue with that. So, he needs the work hours. He doesn't get paid if he isn't there. I must just remind myself he wasn't even planning on coming at all initially, so I should be happy with the 3 days. I just don't want him to regret missing on the family things we will be reminiscing about in the future. But, he is being responsible, so I must applaud that.

I got some DIY sstuff done. I have created almost all the luggage tags. I need to get card stock & laminate. After they are done I will take a picture & post it. I have done a couple of the please do not disturb signs. so, I will have to finish them & do the bookmarks.

Side note: long story short, my dad had mentioned to my nephew & his family that when he got out of the hospital he wanted to take them all to Disney. Well, he got out, but never mentioned it again. Now of course he is gone, left us each a little bit of money, and my brother is thinking about taking his 3 boys & their families. Well, DB is not a disney person. Meanwhile his wife has been saving for years to take the family. So, they are going. However, she planned everything without asking anything. Which believe me I understand, I control my families vacation like a spy. But, she is paying rack rates on everything. They are flying down on Christmas day. My DSIL & I have always had a wonderful relaitonship/friendship/sisterlike love. But, that is because we respect each other for who we are. I will not infringe on her decisions. She knows we are disney freaks and did not recruit our help, so I will just enjoy their excitement & tales when they return. However, I do believe Tinkerbell, may have to leave them a little something at the resort for the little ones to open. Even if it is just book marks, a pin or two, a coloring book & crayons. Things like that.

So, that is about all for now.

Prayers for all!

May everyone have a blessed Sunday!

Quick pop in, probably very smart that DB & DSIL are doing their own thing for the Disney trip...you have a great relationship with her, that is truly wonderful and best to keep it that way

DS # 1 his decision makes him very responsible, good for you & DH...well done...there will be other Disney trips for your family and extended family no worries PLUS there will be a LOT of memories the 3 days he is there !

EVERYTHING!!!

Okay, not everything, but alot!

What was:
DH,Me,DD#2 flying out of our not favorite airport, arriving in Orlando at 6ish is now:
DH, me, DD#2 flying out of our favorite airport, arriving in Orlando 12noonish
all still with Jetblue, our favorite airline

What was:
DS#1 flying out of our not favorite airport alone arriving in Orlando 5ish, in our not favorite airline (although 2nd favorite, SW) // and flying home alone to same airport with same airline in early afternoon
is now:

DS#1 flying out of our favorite airport with his DB,DS,DSBF arriving in Orlando 1:30ish with our favorite airline JB// stay tuned for return flight. popcorn::

So how is that for mixing things up a bit.

Now for the best part, well maybe the best part.

You all remember how I did that little video for JB's training. Well, the gentleman who helped me with that said if he can ever do anything for me to let him know. So, I did. I had tried to figure out how much extra it would cost for DH,DD & myself to change airports, and possibly dates/times. I tried to figure it out, like I said, but because we had basically gotten the flights down for free between True Blue points & JB credits, I couldn't figure it out. That is where my JB friend (that I had never "met" before the video), came in. He couldn't answer me, but sent my inquiry along, and today Gina called me back. What a wonderful person. JB never ceases to amaze me with their personal. Anyway, long story short... It cost me a total of....get this....
$127.18. For 6 changes! That's right SIX!!! Well, actually, more if you count the change of airports. We changed 3 people airports, 3 departing flight times AND 3 returning flight times!!! Of course I sent an email to my new buddy at JB telling him how helpful Gina was, and thanked him again, asking him to send along kudos from me to Ginas supervisor.

How cool is that! I was so happy. Then I called SW to see if they can help me on how much it would cost to have DS#1 change airports. They said I could cancel the flights I have & rebook. That DS would get a credit in HIS name to use within 1 yr. Not a problem there. But, before I did that I wanted to make sure JB was showing all my info. It wasn't so, I decided to wait. While I waited I went outside to get my mail. Still waiting for those Undercover Tourist/mousesaver tickets. popcorn:: I know, I know, I'm not nervous, just anxious now. :rolleyes1 When I see a card type envelope. I open it and here is what it read:
FRONT: THANK YOU
Inside handwritten: Dee, Thank you so much for making time to skype with us a let us use the video in our training. You had an emotional experience and I am so sorry for the loss of your father. We hope to bring that humanity to every customer and this video will help. Please accept this $100 gift card to use the next time you fly with us. Warmest Regards, Jetblue customer service. Jack (signature is difficult, but I think it is Jack.)
Do you believe that??!! I don't know what I did to deserve such good karma aka blessings, but I am certainly thankful for them. I admit it, I cried. You see if you don't remember this started because I messed up booking return flights. THEY (Miriam) fixed it for me, on the day I was going to finalize my Dad's arrangements. Today, I recieve this, Friday we finally bury my Dad's ashes. Yes, I had a little cry for myself. Sometimes I think my parents are still babying me. Taking care of me still by putting little angels in my life. Now, I knew what I had to do with that gift card. Get DS#1 on that flight with his DS, DB, &DSBF. I got on & booked his flight. I only had to pay $81.90. I know this vacation was starting out to be free, but I had to keep DS#1 with his counterparts. It is only right. Bad enough he is coming home so early, he needs to spend as much time as possible with his triplet siblings.

So, guess what this means....I have to call SW & cancel his outgoing flight. Where will that land me? no pun intended, okay, yeah there was. :thumbsup2

And perhaps more surprises up my sleeve???

speaking of surprises..... I almost blew it. I had a problem with my debit card which turned out to be a safety precaution on the banks part, but in finding out so, I said to the banker on the other end of the phone (with DD#2 bday girl in the back seat), "I have a vacation coming up in August, am I going to have this problem then?" :sad2: DD#1 just looked at me. After I hung up, we just didn't say anything, until DD#2 (little miss big ears) says, "so...we are going on a vacation in August???!!!" argh I said, no, I just told the lady that in case we do a day trip somewhere. (hearing me say in the back of my head "how many times have I told you NOT TO LIE TO ME YOUNG LADY" ....no mother of the year this year either :rolleyes1 ) Then DD#1 said, "oh honey, banks are very strict about their policies, so sometimes you have to be very careful when you are questioning them about things." said the girl who was a banker all last summer....for this particular bank. hahaha DD#2 seemed to accept that answer as she was VERY disappointed. :scratchin oops. Honestly, I don't think I was even in the running for Mom of the year anyway. Did I tell you I picked her up from school 1 hour late last mOnday. Got the days confused regarding rehersals for the talent show. I mean they COULD have called my cell phone, but didn't only the house phone, which DS was on talking to DH, so he didn't want to click over. They left a message, but since I had no idea ANYONE CALLED I never checked message. I mean I didn't leave the house, why would I think I didn't hear a phone ring? Yup, 1 HOUR... yeah, I am definitely not getting mother of the year....yet again. that's okay, I wouldn't know what to say in my speech anyway. :mic:

Yay!! I'm caught up again after vacation! Honestly I would go against what the others said and say to book CRT for 7. The kid's steak at BOG was very thin and dry. DS6 would not eat it. If you are worried about her enjoying the food, go with the one she requests. Just my thoughts....

How sweet of JB to give you the gift card.

Your plans are coming together really well.

First of all... So awesome that you were able to get your flights changed for so little $$...

Secondly - how wonderful that they sent you a GC for doing that video... That is just awesome!

I'd vote for you for mother of the year anytime - great save by both you and dd#1 about slipping on the Aug vacation - LOL. Glad little dd believed you. :)

thanks Bridget. and welcome back! Can't wait to catch up on your TR. As far as the childs steak. DD will be an adult this trip. drastically increases the cost that is for sure!! We had the steak sandwich at lunch & loved it. Did any of you adults try the adult portion steak? I looked at the CRT dinner menu, and I really don't think she will like it. She loved the BREAKFAST....which is not going to be possible for her bday meal. Maybe we can get another breakfast in at CRT this trip.

thanks. :goodvibes My cousin & I have this ongoing battle for the past 22 years about which of us is going to get it. Neither of us are ever even in the running. :rotfl2: Of course we also have an ongoing joke about who was Grams favorite. At Grams funeral I had DS text my cousin saying "don't cry, I love you. But Dee is my favorite. Love, Gram" I know we are sick. But, the humor is the only thing that kept my heart from breaking. And Gram would've laughed her butt off.

D~

Today, I am to pick up a few things for goody bags. Fix our itinerary calendars. And try to arrange one last surprise for the trip.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Ruthie, I hope your shift went well last night & that the rain didn't cause you pain.

Seems to me YES parents are still guiding things Many Many Blessings

DD1 :cool2: calm /quick thinking on her part....she could go into law enforcement or some secret agent thing :)

YOU on the other hand :rolleyes1 how many gray hairs will you get until you can reveal all :lmao:

I survived the night...that's all I'm gonna say about it :sad2: tonight will be better

We had the adult steaks and they were amazing!! In my opinion, they are the best steaks on property. The fries are SALTY - VERY SALTY - UNBELIEVABLY salty. To the point where when we go again, I'll ask them to hold the salt on the fries and salt them myself. We also had the strawberry cupcake which was great!
