We are a family of 5 (12, 12, and 6 years old). Our children like milder rides/water slides. I love lazy rivers. Do either of these parks have a good lazy river? We are staying at CBR, is one easier to get to then the other? Thanks

I'm more partial to Typhoon Lagoon. I enjoy its lazy river quite a bit. Both water parks are a lot of fun though. I'm pretty sure Typhoon Lagoon is closer to CBR.

Although our family has not been to Typhoon Lagoon, we love Blizzard Beach! It was the highlight of our Disney trip last year, and our kids actually ditched Magic Kingdom for a second day at Blizzard Beach. For the record, our kids were 10, 8, and 6 when we went last year. Aside from Summit Plummet and Slush Gushers, all three of them were able to go on all of the other rides, and they like tame. Since you have 3 kids, I will let you know what pushed us to BB rather than TL. The family ride at BB can fit 6 people while the one at TL only holds 4. My kids, especially my 6 year old, LOVED the family ride. My son told me that water slide is his favorite place in the whole world. :-)

As a side note, I was not in love with the lazy river at BB. There were a lot of trees overhead, and many leaves had fallen into the river. It just felt a bit dirty to me (although I am sure that it was perfectly fine). The wave pool was nice and relaxing though. I have heard that the TL wave pool it a lot more rough.

In the past we have always gone to both water parks. They both have lazy rivers. I love the atmosphere of TL, but we seem to spend more time at BB. The family raft ride is longer at BB and you don't have to roll the raft up. The kids love the small kiddie preschool pool and older kids pool at BB. They especially like the crossing the pool using the ropes. The kids really like the ski lift up to the top at BB. It really depends on your preference. TL is tropical and seems more laid back. The kids loved the wave pool at TL and the small slides off the wave pool. You really can't go wrong either way. I forgot about the man who sneezes at BB's lazy river. My kids thought that was hilarious. Have fun!

The lazy river at BB is shallower than the one at TL. I always get my knees scratched there. Like above poster, it seems dirty from all the pine foliage that falls in.
Your kids might like BB better. There were years that ours preferred BB slides to TL but once older they preferred the ambiance of TL.

The main difference, besides the theming, is that the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon is much more intense than the one at BB. Every 90 seconds, it generates a 6 foot wave that knocks everyone off their feet. If you prefer a more sedate experience, the wave pool at BB has very gentle waves.

If you go in the wave pool at TL with young children, you could stay with them in the shallow end, where the waves have lost most of their strength. Also, I would have them wear tee shirts in the pool. I've heard of kids being knocked down and getting scratches from the floor of the wave pool.

Both parks have identical lazy rivers, and fast and fun water slides.

Both lazy rivers are themed to the park. That why you get the types of landscaping for BB. They are a horse of peace. We love both. We do both each trip. Rafts are better at BB. Getting knocked on your rear by the Wave at TL is also quite fun. Food about the same. You can snorkel live sharks at TL.

Thanks for all the great advice. My 12 year old son would love swimming with the sharks/sting rays at TL. He did it at discovery cove and still talks
about it. Since TL is close to our resort, we will probably go to that one first, but I think we will try BB also.

We love TL better due to the fact my kids love the wave pool. The lazy river at TL as well as most of the park is shadier than BB.

We love TL way better than BB. BB is just way too exhausting with all of the climbing with tubes you have to do. We've been there once, never again. We didnt care for the wave pool either.

TL is more fun for us. We LOVE the wave pool. We can spend hours in there. We also love swimming with the sharks and the lazy river.

If you have time to try both, go for it! But i think your kids would love TL.
