Our kids are 4, 6, and 8. (4 can't swim, 6 can doggy paddle, 8 can swim) and we were trying to decide which would be better for our kids ages. Blizzard Beach looks like a little more fun for the parents with the theme but Typhoon Lagoon looks like the rides are a little more small kid friendly. We will be back to Disney in 2 years so can alway try the other. Which is better for my age kids? Thanks!

I did Typhoon Lagoon with my 6 year old boy. He loved it (could not get him out of the wave pool anymore - front bid)... There is a great kiddie area too

BB is more of the thrill ride waterpark for the "bigger" kidz

Enjoy

We did TL with 6 kids, age 10 (great swimmer), 7(ok swimmer), 6 (good swimmer), 5 (can't even doggie paddle), 4 (can doggie a little), and 2 (can't even get her face wet). They had a BLAST! The smaller kiddie area is great, they have mini tube slides and a slide that you can go down on your belly, probably too little for the 8 year old. The older ones did Shark Reef, they have life jackets, very fun. We did each slide once, that was enough. What they couldn't get enough of was the wave pool. All the kids loved it. But...it's a lot of work for the parents. Even in knee deep water, you get pounded! It's very easy to lose a kids, even if you are holding on to them, they can slip right out of your hands. That's how rough the water is. Also, it's very rough on the bottom of the pool in the shallow parts. We all have scrapes and scratches from being thrown around. That being said, it was a great time, and we will definitely be returning! :sunny:

There seems to be a lot of conflicting opinions about which waterpark is best for smaller children. When I researched this same question, I came to the conclusion that BB was the better choice. I didn't want to have to deal with the big wave pool, and I liked the idea of the long family raft ride. Really, I think either choice would be fine. Everyone is going to have a different opinion. We're trying BB in May, and next time we'll do TL to compare.

The family raft ride is very cool. I loved that one... But you don't have to worry with the wave pool. At the front the wave is so small children have a lot of fun jumping ovr them... Many children playing there... But then again BB is a great park to, just TL is my nr 1 :thumbsup2

whatever chooice ... enjoy

We chose Blizzard Beach with our kids (11,8,6) because it had some for all ages. We also loved the family raft ride. We also chose it because we were staying at the BC/YC and the pools are kind of tropical themed, so we went BB for a different style as well.

my kids say BB is best, they were 12, 6, and 6 last trip. They thought the kids area at TL was to babyish but they loved Ski Patrol at BB. It has slides, "icebergs" to walk across the pool on, a zip line, etc all sized for the kids. They hated the wave pool at TL, it kept knocking them over, but the one at BB didn't bother them. Both parks have a lazy river and a family raft ride, but the one at BB is a little longer. Only the 12 yr old did the shark swim, the others were afraid to try to swim all the way across without putting their feet down.

We also did BB. My kids are 7 and 2. Seven year old swims well. And 2 year old can't but is very daring.

The seven year old LOVED BB. When we go this year, I'd like to try TL, but don't know if I'll be able to get him there. My 2 yo DD thought the kids area was the best, and it was. We all thought the family raft ride was awesome too.

I think you will enjoy either one but reading your description of your kids' ages and swimming abilities I would think TL would be a slightly better choice. Ski Patrol in BB is really cool for slightly older kids but for the rest of it I think TL has the edge. 4 & 6 yr old should love Ketchakiddie Creek; every time I've been there the lifeguards have to chase the older kids out of it so it must have something appealing about it :sunny: But both water parks are great fun and you will have a good time regardless of which one you pick.

I've done both with my 3 year old and I would have to say BB has more kid-friendly rides. There is a kiddie area as well as a "tween" are at BB. Plus the family raft ride is 10x better at BB than at TL. I prefer the setting/atmosphere of TL over BB, but for the kids I think BB is a better option.
