We love WDW and have been several times! We have never done the water parks though. My DS9 has talked me into it this time. Any suggestions on which park to goto? We are leaning toward BB, but open to any suggestion.

Here is my take -

BB - has a better water section for the older kids, the family ride is way better it's longer and has a better drop imo & you can get to the top using the lift as opposed to walking up those stairs. The "big" slide for the adventurous, is better also.

TL - has a way better wave pool, the lazy river is better in our opinion as it is deeper at 4 ft. as opposed to BB's lazy river at 2 ft., it has a better "little kids" water area, the 2 seater slides here are better, again it is just our opinion. The slide for the adventurous not as good as BB's BUT their slides have 3 folks going at a time as opposed to BB's 1 person at a time resulting in less waiting in line. You can also snorkel in shark reef. Something you cannot do at BB.

I may have missed some things, but for the most part, we enjoyed TL more but we did miss the family raft ride and our oldest missed the bigger kids section from BB. The wave pool in her opinion made up for that though.

I never understand how/ why someone would pick just one waterpark. the price for a one-day ticket is about the same as adding waterparks to your big park tickets. Why choose? Go to both!

I personally like TL better but I'm a 40-somthing with a 50-something DH and no kids.

I liked BB but it did seem geared a little more for the tween and up crowd.
TL seemed more geared to the family crowd.

Their wave pool is fantastic and the lazy river is better. If it's thrills you seek, I'd go to BB. But like one poster already commented, why not go to both?

My little one didn't like the wave pool, etc. TL was a waste for him, but he's not typical. In hindsight, I should have gotten everyone in bathing suits, grabbed a few extra towels, and hopped on the monorail to the Grand Floridian. They have a kids area there that's very nice. It's probably not allowed, but it would have been more fun for him (and a lot cheaper) than TL. :)

This may be stupid but I don't understand the wave pool at Typhoon Lagoon? What can you do in there if it is so intense? They don't allow floats, you can't body surf or boogie board....it sounds like the waves can knock you over often (and many get scraped knees/legs). I'm trying to decide which park to go to and I was leaning toward TL; but my kids will want to play in the wave pool, so would BB be better?

The wave pool in TL has a shallow area for kids & families. I've seen body surfing in the deeper areas (up to I think 12 feet deep where the waves start). strong swimmers go in deep but not so strong stay in the more shallow areas. It is large so there is an area for even level of swimmer. If your kids r not "beach" people they may not like the wave pool.
On a side note, TL's kids area seemed a bit bigger than BB to me.

First time I ever went to Disney the water parks were not on my TO DO list, but my other half forced me to go to T.Lagoon. I huffed the whole way on the bus and wasn't in the mood for it. Until I walked in the gates and my mouth literally hit the ground. A-MAZ-ING!!! It was probably my fave of all the Disney Parks. We didn't have time to do B.Beach. There is a kiddie area in TL if I remember. I think its called Ketcha kiddie creek or something. If we have time we will be doing both, we go this September for 14 nights

I prefer TL as I like the atmosphere but if you are after big thrills go to BB and ride Summit Plummit! :thumbsup2

BB family ride brings the tube to the top for you
TL you have to heft it to the top

BB family ride allows up to 6
TL family ride is max 4
(we are a family of 5)

BB wave pool is fun
TL wave pool hurts a lot of people

BB has a lift to many of the rides (use the single ride line)
TL does not

BB has a funner theme and vibe and is 'prettier'
TL has an ugly shipwrecked messy storm theme

TL has the swim with the fish area
BB does not

BOTH are WAY better than anywhere else, but BB is better than TL

Thank you for this. I've never heard this before.

Such awesome advise!! Thanks! I think my DS9 is set on BB. We've put waterparks off on our last 2 trips, so I've got to take him this time! Next question is can you catch the bus from the parks to the waterparks? I have never really paid attention!
