Hey guys, looking for some advice from anyone familiar with Typhoon Lagoon. I am taking my daughter to Disney for the first time to celebrate her 2nd birthday. I am from Orlando, but currently living out of state. I have told all my friends and family that if they want to see me, we are going to Disney and would not be doing the normal house to house visits.

I told them we are going to Typhoon Lagoon on my daughter's birthday and if they can budget the money, to come out and spend the day. I was wondering if anyone has ideas on how to maximize this birthday party. How does the picnic areas work? We will be at Disney for four nights. Due to the cost of the trip, the resort and the everything else, I doubt I can budget a Disney hosted party. So, this will likely be a no cake birthday party. Don't bring gifts, just pay for your tickets and we can socialize as the children play.

Any ideas on anything more I can do? I think Disneys photopass is a fabulous idea, so I was planning on telling anyone who comes to save their cards for me. That is too cool...

Doesn't anyone know anything about Typhoon Lagoon? I havent' been there in 15 or more years, so I need a bit of help in what I can expect. :goodvibes

I can't be much help about the picnic areas, but I can tell you Typhoon Lagoon is a ton of fun! The wave pool will be great for your bigger group, same with the lazy river and family raft ride, because everyone can hang out together.

There are also newer 'roller coaster watersides' that are awesome! There's usually a Photopass person at the base of the slides to get pictures of people as they come splashing down. We got some cool ones so that's a good idea I think.

Theres also a smaller kids play area that might be a good idea for the birthday girl and her friends.

Hope I helped a little!

i know when our dd's were younger bb had a really nice younger kids section and yes they had photopass guys in there you might want to look at doing bb instead of tl(i dont know how good tl is with younger kids mine are 12 & 7)

You could still have cake if you want - just bring it in yourself (if you have your own transportation) or have a guest bring it. Or cupcakes or cookies might be easier. If you don't have your own transportation & don't want to ask someone else, you could get the mini-donuts from the stand there & use that. Also It would be helpful for you to know ahead of time how many people are definitely coming so you can get some chairs all together for enough people wherever you decide to park your stuff.

I'm not sure there are any picnic areas that are not attached to a CS restaurant. So if you were to bring in your own party food you would be kind of taking over tables meant for people who bought food there.

You can certainly put out blankets and make an area up that would be "your space".

Is there anyone local that can put together a picnic style meal (cold cuts, potato salad, etc.) with maybe a real cake for you and bring it in?

I would also repeat to your guests that you do not want presents. I can imagine people showing up with toys, even small ones, and such and you wondering how to get it all home.

Thank you for your help. Everyone is local, so having people bring things is not a big deal, it is just the Florida heat. Maybe once I get a feel of the land, I can duck out and grab a cake at some point. Maybe that is not a bad idea. I just wasn't sure if there would be a good place to serve it up. Thanks everyone for your help.

Just so you know you can pretty much bring any size cooler into a WP.

The serving is the issue. I think you would just have a party on the beach.

It seems like you have a car. Maybe you can go to a Party store at home and get some beach party stuff. I wouldn't go too crazy though.

One other thing you may not think of is don't bring a huge knife for the cake. You will have to do with a plastic one.

I was at Typhoon Lagoon in February and there are definitely picnic areas that are not attached to CS. There were quite a few in an area to the right and over the bridge I believe it was. We walked there with our food and there were other people using the tables as well. It was a concrete area and we could watch people coming off a slide I am remembering (sorry this is fuzzy). There was also a drink refill station there but no food kiosk. Maybe if I look at a map of Typhoon Lagoon...hold on....ok looked at a map and I can't tell for sure but there were definitely tables for use.

I would go early, get one and have everything you need (cake included, rather than try and run out during the day). Coolers are allowed in the park so people are certainly expected to use the tables.
