Hi everyone - Last year I attempted to do the mickey tie die myself & they looked really yucky! There was someone here on the boards that sold them on ebay...I bought 3 orange/purple shirts from her. Well of course at the time I hadn't planned on going back to WDW this year!!!!!!!!!!! Now I NEED more shirts!!! I tried looking on ebay & couldn't find her. Does anyone know who/what I'm talking about?????? :confused3 :confused3

Wish I could help, but I don't know of anyone here who actually sold shirts. Sorry.

If you don't find her, I did learn some tricks I would be happy to share when making them that make them turn out better. I just made 4 of them. Let me know. I would be glad to help you out! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Well, I'm definitely interestested in your tips. I haven't attempted to make them yet but I am going to. Your help would be appreciated!

Tricks.....
1. I use the nylon thread from Walmart. I double it and then sew around the design. I pull it really tight as if it was rubber banded.
2. Wrap the rest of the shirt with rubber bands. It should look like a snake.
3. Soak the shirt with water. I also add a tsp of vinegar to make sure it sticks to the shirt good.
4. I keep the bottles from when I hilight my hair and use them to squirt on the dye. It works well since you don't have to worry about it squirting around. The bottles can really make all the difference in the world.
5. Squirt the shirt starting with the nylon thread sewn area. Alternate colors as you go. I use three colors only.
6. Let the shirt sit in the sun for about 10 hours or more. Rinse and let dry in the sun for about the same. I keep it outside over night over the playset.
7. Wash in warm water and dry in the dryer. The sun seems to help keep the colors from blending together.
8. You don't think the shirt will turn out but it does!
9. If you carefully squirt the shirt around the nylon, it really does work. I have even thought myself it won't but, it does.
10. The rit dye and Walmart t-shirts really work best. I also did this for the MGM hat. I posted pics. Please post some of yours when you finish. I love to look at everyone's creations. Hope this post helps.
Have fun everyone!!! Kelly :artist:

Thanks for the tips ! I still haven't found the person I bought them from. I'm so bummed. When we get back from vacation next week (not WDW) I'm going to see if I can make them.

Let me know if you need anything or any help. I would be glad to do what I can. Good luck!!
