We had planned on a Disney Camping Extravaganza spring of last year, but Afghanistan called, we sold our pop up camper, and put it all on hold.

DH got home this Spring, we rolled our 'new to us' 2008 Fleetwood Utah into the driveway yesterday. Popped it open today, did a little sprucing up (the previous owner kept it immaculate) and decided we are taking advantage of the military four day passes, the good rates, and doing this trip in February!

Can't wait!

Tips...suggestion?

I've already emailed Kenny about a golf cart rental...we have to secure our dates and make our reservation.

We want to be closer to the bathhouses and stuff (as our kiddo is only five) so we are looking at premium sites (yes, for our pop up).

Whooo hooo!

Tankersbabe,

Welcome to the DIS Camping Board. :welcome: :cool1:

Congrats on your new-to-you pup also. I hope it serves you well for a long time. My Jayco Highwall pup is 8 years old and although I love making little repairs here and there, it's still in great shape (I keep it in the garage which helps).

I bet it was tough putting things on hold while DH was away but tell him I appreciate every man and womon who wears the uniform.

The one tip that I wanted to pass on had to do with when in February to go. We had a recent thread and the topic of rates in February came up. On Feb 14 the rates jack up from Value rates to Peak rates. For example a Premium (good for an RV or us pups) goes from $80 to $120 (Weekday). Early spring is a beautiful time to camp (although it stretches things to call mid-February "spring"). Rates for other types of sites go up similarly. Crowds come in for Presidents Day weekend and then in March the waves of spring breakers start showing up.

If you can get your trip in the first half of February it would be a lot cheaper and less crowded for you.

Come back at us with questions and there are lots of people here who can help. :dance3:

PS - when you make your ressie request a site close to the Comfort Station if that's what you want.

Have fun on your trip! We love the premium sites. The 900 loop is our favorite, as it is right across from the main pool and the Meadows Trading Post. You can definitely request a site close to the comfort station too, as Ed mentioned. One of these years we're going to do a late January/early February trip for dd's birthday. Let us know how you like it that time of year!

Glad you guys are planning a FW trip. We think Fall is the best time of the year, if you can go then. Value prices, low crowds and great temp. You will have fun no matter when though. Take a a day if you can to just enjoy FW... there is so much to do.

Please thank your husband for us.... his service is a blessing.

A pop up is true camping and how most of us have started out. Our best memories of the family are in the pop up. You will love the Fort and be hooked like the rest of us.

Thank you for your service.
God Bless
