I'm baaaa-aack. You didn't think I'd leave you guys forever did ya?!

Two Texans and a Mouse
Day 4, 9/25
Dates: 9/22-9/29 Austin, TX to WDW
Coronado Springs Resort

Cast Members:
Chris – ambitious planner, twenty-something (ok, 29, but that still counts)
Jill (girlfriend) – recent college grad that has no idea what’s in store for her. Newbie to everything WDW/Universal

I woke up this morning sicker than a dog. I had a huge headache and I just felt all around CRAPPY! Being sick wasn't in my schedule but unfortunately we had to deal with it. I went down to El Centro and bought some cereal and fruit to bring back to the room. You guessed it...$20.

We traveled on though. Today was supposed to be a day that we went to Universal Studios but decided to go to Epcot's Future World instead because I was feeling so bad. I sucked it up and we were out the door. We drove the rest of the week because we determined that it was much faster than the buses during the 'slow' season.

After waiting in line because people weren't sure how to use the fingerprint machines, we headed over to Mission Space to grab a FP. For once, I don't think it was the Lemmings fault for not being able to the use the fingerprint machine correctly. They seemed to be finicky for EVERYONE.

We jumped in line at Ellen’s Energy Universe and waited only a few minutes before going into the pre-show. There was hardly anyone on the ride. I really enjoyed this attraction although towards the end it got kind of long. Make one thing clear...I CAN'T STAND ELLEN, but I thought she did a great job. Afterwards, we took this

The next stop was Wonders of Life where I posed with DNA TEXAN TIP #12 - If you feel the least bit sick, don't get on Body Wars. I knew good and well that I shouldn't be getting on this ride, but did anyway. About .37 seconds into the ride, I started sweating and I knew it would be a long one. Somehow, I made it through but when we got off, I really felt like crud! Despite the fact that I was sick, this ride really sucks. The movie is outdated and Elizabeth Shue doesn’t even look hot! I felt it was most jerky ride that we rode over the entire trip, although Back to the Future was a close second.

We stopped and had a sandwich in a little deli inside the Wonders of Life. I think all they had were sandwiches, but they were REALLY good sandwiches. I was surprised that this place was hidden away inside. When looking at the counter I just knew that I was going to be eating the booger food you would get inside a Wal-Mart or Target food, but it was very good.

Next was Mission:Space After eating, I felt a bit better so we decided to try out MS again. This ride is AWESOME, but I didn't think it was as cool the second time around. It was probably a combination of my mood and the fact that I knew what was going to happen. I did however flip every single switch in the cockpit to see if anything would happen. I wish that the outcome of the ride was determined by the actions of the riders, but it isn't. It doesn't change the fact that this ride is an all-time favorite.

After the ride we did one of the games that were in the building. I want to say that it was called Space Race. Basically, you are broken into two team and you race each other. It gets a bit more complicated because you have to perform fixes for the ship so that the crew can use a hyper-speed. My description is pretty lame, but the game was TONS of fun. Highly recommended!

We decided to skip Test Track because the line was a bit long. We made our way over to Ice Station Cool (I think that's what it was called). How much money do you think it takes to cool that place off day in and day out?! We walked up to the machine and I snapped this I told Jill that I had read on the DIS that the best drink in the entire station was Beverly. I poured her a large glass and she took it back like she was a frat boy during Hell Week. This was the outcome! This was definitely a highlight of the day  After she administered a few beatings, she tried out some others and I can't remember her saying that she liked any of them. I passed on most of them.

We skipped the Land and went to Honey I shrunk the Audience. This was a lot of fun. I liked it when the little kid picks up the audience. Afterwards, we went into the Imagination Pavilion and rode the Figment ride. Where's my gun?! That ride was not fun at all. Where's the Imagination in that one?! Here's a pic from outside.

The Living Seas was the only attraction left, but what's the point after diving in it the day before. Jill had spent a good two hours in there, so I wasn't about to drag her back. At this point we thought it would be best to just go home and get some well deserved REST.

I think I took about a 3 hour nap and felt a bit better when I woke up. That night we decided to go to DisneyQuest and grab some dinner at the House of Blues. It was pouring when we got down there, but we had and umbrella so it wasn't a big deal. Note the HAD…I left it at one of the games, and was unable to find it after looking for .23 seconds.

DisneyQuest didn't seem to have too many people in there. Here's a pic from when we got off the elevator. We played a couple of the throwback games first and I ruled Donkey Kong just as I did in 3rd grade! We then did the Daytona Racing game where I was in first place the entire time until Jill recklessly ran me off the road on the last lap. We headed downstairs and got on the bumper car attraction. One person drives the car and the other person grabs the balls that are picked up and fires them out of the cannon at the other cars. If you get hit your car spins out of control for about 10 seconds. We were spinning A LOT. I was driving like Michael Andretti, however Jill couldn't hit the Great Wall of China if it was right in front of her. I completely blame our loss on her. Next I hopped on a Star Wars pod racing game and then I jumped on a skateboarding game Afterwards we did the Alladin's Magic Carpet Ride and took this picture before hooking up to the virtual reality device. Jill said that hers was blurry and after about a minute I decided that I didn't care for this attraction. I think the next ride was the Virtual Jungle Ride This one was pretty cool and you even get misted with water. You can't really tell from the picture, but the bag underneath the boat inflates and simulates rapids. It was pretty damn cool! The last attraction we did was the Pirates of the Caribbean. This was my favorite attraction inside DisneyQuest. I was sinking boats left and right, but the 8 year old kid next to me doubled my score. He had to have cheated! I could have spent about another 4 days in this place, but Jill already has to put up with my XBOX at home, so I didn't make her stay.

We went over to the House of Blues. The service was great and the atmosphere was what I had expected. The manager came by and flirted with Jill until I told him to get lost or I'd have to take him outside. Ok, I didn't say that, but I thought it  We had the calamari as and appetizer and it was FANTASTIC. TEXAN TIP #13 – If you like calamari, and you like spicy food, get this. I could eat it every single day!! We are huge calamari fans and order it often, but this was by far the best Calamari that we've ever had. It was super spicy and had an all-around great flavor. Jill got the Andouille Shrimp and Chicken Creole and I got the Crawfish Etouffee. Both were good, but I've had better Etouffee. Here's a pic that our waitress took. I was feeling pretty cruddy again, so the smile was forced.

We walked around Downtown Disney looking for somewhere else to eat at another night. We wanted to go to Bongo's at one point, but the menu outside didn't interest me. We had plans for Fulton's on Sat and we were also going to try and get to the Rainforest Cafe another day, too. We stopped by the guitar shop so that I could oohhh and ahhh and instruments that I would never have, and then jumped in our car for a rainy drive back to the resort.

I took a bunch of meds and prepared myself mentally for a LONG day tomorrow at Universal IOA.

Wonderful trip report ~ Thanx for sharing.

Thanks for posting! We're going to try DisneyQuest in Nov. for the first time. Glad you liked it! We are both big gamers, so hopefully it will keep us entertained!

Sorry you got sick (seems to happen to me most of the time down in WDW too...think it's all the commando stuff I do and I don't give my body the chance to rest, but who wants to rest when you are in WDW?). Hope to hear that you are feeling better and off and running tomorrow (now get typing that next installment!)

Oh, and I love the photos. You and your gf make a very handsome couple.

Sorry you had a sick day.....I think the Beverly pic is just priceless....thanks for sharing!!

Thanks for another great report. The Beverly pic is priceless.

Thank you for your trip reports so far. My husband isn't as crazy about WDW as I am, so to try to get him into the trip reports, I have been printing out several of them and leaving them around the house, in hopes that he will pick one up and read them and out of all of them, yours is the only one he will read. I think it helps that it is coming from a man, and someone around our age. Its helps him to relate and realize how cool WDW is! So thank you so much for all your help in getting my husband more into WDW. He even asked me this weekend if you had posted your next installment, he was waiting for it! :earsgirl:

Misery loves company....I love the photo of the Beverly Chug! Sorry you weren't feeling well....that sucks on any vacation, but is doubly irritating at the World.

therealgoofy, from part 1 of your trip report:
I’ll try to stay on the ball when returning home with my trip reports. I get so aggravated when I read an unfinished trip report. That means you “A Pirate Turns 30”! Finish it up, MATEY!!
So, how about it? ;) ;) ;)
You've left us hanging here. Will we see reports for Day 5 and beyond? Now that delswife report is drawing to a close, we need someone to fill our days with more brilliant writing. Oh and if the Pirate is reading this, we'd love to see the completion of your report too. You both have excellent trip reports...we'd just like to read the rest.

Another great installment... thank you! :D

Okay, so why aren't the pictures working???? Is it just moi?
