My husband & I have a reservation at the Boardwalk Inn for December. Now, we are looking at the cost and wondering if we can do it or not.

My husband came up with this idea, and I'm hoping for a little bit of feedback from anyone... or everyone... :) Stay at Pop Century the first 4 nights, then move to Animal Kingdom Lodge for the last 2 nights. (Yes, he totally ignored BI.)

I don't know how I feel about switching resorts and if it's a lot of bother. The only other time I've been to WDW was in 1999 on our honeymoon, so I want to make sure the trip is great.

Thanks in advance for your comments and suggestions!

I am considering a split stay in August. I would love to hear from others about how hard it is to move from one resort to the other.
I would be staying at POP August 1 - 7 and POR Riverside August 8 - 11. it would cost only $80 more than staying at the POP the whole time, but is it worth the hassel. Opinions wanted please.

We just booked a split stay to save money. We're doing 3nights at POP and 5 nights a CBR. The money we save at POP will pay for parisailing. I see it as 2 seperate vacations since the hotels are so different and family is joining us at CBR. DH really wanted to do a moderate while I'm happy at value and spending my money on something else. We both get what we want!

I got the idea off this board.

We also are doing a split stay. Staying at Staybridge Suites, near Universal for 3 days then moving over to Boardwalk for 5 days. Kids want to do Universal and husband gets points, so it won't cost any money just points.
Then enjoy disney for 5 days. If you are in the park its easier as Disney will move your luggage for you so its not that bad. We will have a car so we can just drive on over.

We have done a split stay and it isn't bad. You kind of feel homeless for a bit b/c when you check out and back in the other room isn't usually ready. But it isn't bad as long as you have something to do with the day. We are doing another split stay in a few weeks. Disney takes care of the luggage as a pp stated. Not bad at all and if you don't mind packing up and changing I would recommend it.

We booked our 2006 trip last minute, and there wasn't availability for the whole trip in the resort we wanted. So we wound up staying in not two but THREE different resorts. We started at POR for 2 nights, then Saratoga Springs for two and finally the Poly for two. It was great! I wanted to stay at POR because I enjoy it and wanted to save some money, we got to try out a DVC property, and finished the trip in our favorite resort that would have been out of our price range for the whole trip. Moving rooms every few days got a tad old since we had to live out of suitcases, but it wasn't any big deal. We would pack up the day we were moving and take our luggage to bell services. They would move everything to the next resort while we headed to a park. By the time we were ready for an afternoon break (around 3pm) our luggage would be at the new hotel and we were able to check in. Just keep in mind that they do not like moving any perishable items (we had bought some chocolates and found a nice bellman who kept them cool for us, but this is of course not guaranteed). Enjoy your trip!

Thanks so much for your suggestions! How does it all work if you have a Magic Your Way package? Or, are you only able to do room only if you are going to split your stay? Thanks again!

We booked 3 days at POP with the MYW for 8 days then booked a room only for CBR. Just put tickets on one of your stays.

When you book your first stay at POP buy the ticket for the total number of days you will be in the parks. Then book a room only reservation for your second reservation. If you want the dining plan for your ENTIRE stay you must buy at least a 1 day ticket with each of your reservations. You can save the extra ticket for use on another trip.
