DD, DSiL, DGS (2 1/2) and I will be at WDW April 16 to 25. We plan to use RAC and DME. Our flight leaves at 9:30 am so we will have to check in at RAC before 6:30 but will likely do that at closer to 5:30 in case a line slows things down.

Can DD check in at RAC for her DH and her DS? I know that the RAC info thread says that she can but can anyone here confirm that?

Also, the RAC thread says that you must pay any checked bag fees by calling BAGS. Does this mean that I am not allowed to pay the fees directly to the airline (United) if I check in on-line the day before?

TIA. I've used RAC before but only for me and I get my checked bag free with my United card.

I have been able to check in my entire family before. I'm sure that's not etched in stone, but it's been possible. I would be at the RAC area by 5:30 to do so. That way, if there's an issue, she can call up to the others and they can come down.
And yes, your bus will be around 6:30.
As far as bag payment goes, when I had to pay a checked bag fee (a fairly long time ago), I just called BAGS the night before, paid the amount and was done with it. I'm not sure the RAC counter has the ability to accept checked bag payments. If you do online checkin and are able to pay for the fees then, terrific. They should be able to see that when they bring up your reservation at RAC the next day. But, since I've never done it, I can't say for sure. Perhaps someone else will have first hand experience and share it with us.

Watch your timing. If your flight is at 9:30, your assigned pickup time will be between 6:15 & 6:45. You need to be a the DME pickup location, READY to get on the bus 15 minutes before your assigned time.

Also, you need to be finished at RAC at least 3 hours before your flight.

Last but not least, I thought RAC was just to check your bags. Why would you need to "check in" other passengers?

Because its called 'remote airline checkin'.....:) you can check your bags. But you also can checkin for your flight. Many that have just carry on bags use RAC to get their boarding passes. Not to mention that each passenger checking a bag is 'supposed' to be there in person, with ID. And that used to be the case at RAC. But they changed the policy so that an adult could check everyone in and check their bags at the resorts. Makes it so much easier that way.

If the others are paying for bags (sounds like you just get it free), you might call RAC. I was doing that for my friend and I, and instead of it being $50 ($25 each) it was only $48 going through them the night before the flight.

And when you get free bags, it is supposed to just happen. DH gets (for now...sigh...he's about to just be Silver) 3 free bags with United, and it just magically worked out with RAC. No work needed. :)

I honestly didn't know you can check in at the RAC desk. Every time we've visited, we've had checked bags, so we've had to visit there anyway.

Now with online (and mobile) check in, I really didn't think it was needed. Learned something new.

Yep. I'm always surprised when I see people in line with no bags. I think many people that do that probably think it's just as easy, if not easier, than getting your boarding pass at the airport. There are usually kiosks you can use to print them out at. Who knows.
