Two questions - rates and hotel

I've seen posts saying the rates for next year aren't available until August and then some say they're ready now. I called about a week ago and the rep said August. Am I missing something?

Now I need help with picking a hotel. We went to IOA for one day during our Disney honeymoon in 2008. I'm surprising DH with a trip to Universal for his birthday in April. When we stayed at Disney we stayed at the Polynesian. I'm trying to figure out the right hotel for us. One thing we loved about the Polynesian is the location and the 24 hour snack bar. Any suggestions?

ETA: I forgot we need a king bed, non-smoking room.

I have only stayed at the Portofino Bay and I highly recommend it. It has the largest guest rooms of the three, but it is the furthest from the parks. None are so far as to be much of an issue.

there are no smoking rooms at the hotels.

all the hotels on site are non smoking.

this became effective on may 1st this year.
