As you may know (so many of you have been so supportive), Marie will be getting an MRI soon (date has been set for April 7th), to be followed soon thereafter by a biopsy. I posted a thread some days back, asking for good thoughts and prayers, Marie posted a thank you thread, and so many of the folks here on the DIS were/have been so supportive.
Then, this past Friday, a package comes in the mail for Marie. Marie opens it up and inside is a card with the nicest note, a bookmark from a far away land and the cutest little angel bear (or is it bear angel?), all decked out appropriately in a pink lacey dress. Around her neck is a strand of pearls, likewise on her head as a crown of pearls. Our DIS friend, Nutsy (Auriel) (with a bit of info help from another Chicago DIS'er, KimRaye), took it upon herself to share a little, all the way from Down Under, half way around the world in Australia. Now you tell me that family does not make up the DIS.
That was so thoughtful of Nutsy, really. Below are a couple pictures of Marie's new angel friend. If you listen closely, you can almost hear a G'day.

And then.......
As if that was not enough, another DIS friend, and resident quilter, wdw4us (Denise), had pm'd/emailed last week, asking me a few questions about Marie, what she likes and so on. Denise had an idea of creativity. I did pass on that Marie liked animals, dogs in particular. Well, today Denise emailed to us several pictures of an original creation of hers, (and Denise, you have to help me explain here, if you see this). It is a patch, about 10 inches square, which will be part of a larger, pink commemorative quilt, Quilt for the Cure, made of many such patches from many quilters. Denise's contribution here, is comprised of a Friendship Star, and in the middle, using Denise's creative ability, is a hand-done Lady (Marie said she liked dogs). And also on the patch is Marie's name, her screen name, Lady M, Denise's name and her screen name, wdw4us, our states (NH & IL) and the 2004 date. And below are a couple views of the patch from the pictures Denise sent us.

To say the least, Marie and I both were VERY touched by the thoughtfulness of Auriel and Denise. These, and all the kind and thoughtful posts, PM's, emails, e-cards and real cards from so many DIS'ers, mean so much to Marie, and me also. You guys are a remarkable group of people. Hold each other close, appreciate each other, we do have something very special here, I am convinced of it, and so is Lady M.

Thanks,
Dan
