Two New Parks?

Thanks Chartle. I'm not sure what a banned link is, but I can give the name of the article if anyone wants to google it. The article about the villain theme park is called 10 Disney Theme Parks and Attractions that Were Never Built - it's by Matthew Steed and is dated July 11, 2008. It also mentions Beastly Kingdom and Port Disney.:)

Like you said, it's not worth arguing over. It's a fun topic, and I enjoy seeing the artwork from WDI with regards to what might have been.

Having said that, AssociatedContent.com is a website where anyone can write anything about any subject. Mike Steed is not an actual reporter, and he has neither access nor facts to back up any of his statements. This is the same guy who wrote an article on how to cancel your Facebook account. While some of the park ideas he mentioned are very well-known, the mention of Dark Kingdom is no more valid than some second-hand rumor he picked up and regurgitated for the sake of a topic he thought he'd have fun writing about. I'm happy for him. I'm glad you believe it. But it was never a real idea.

I believe the mods here ban certain websites for reasons that I don't know. The software does in automatically. Just like it filters certain words.

If you ever need to refer to the actor who played Bert in Mary Poppins you have to be creative.

Agreed. But, I know that I've also read an Orlando Business Journal article that interviewed imagineers about the project. They said that they thought that it will never be green lit, because some of the higher ups were uncomfortable with the idea. (This was an Eisner era interview). I'll try to find a link, but it was like a '98 interview. Also, you claim that we must have proof about it, do you have proof that this park has never been planned in any form? I'd like to see that.:thumbsup2

Igar era i highly doubt a 5 gate a WDW will ever be announced. May a park or two outside of Flordia. But this not a dis on Igar at all he has done a great job with the company outside of the theme park business unit.

I received an email from a friend about Disney buying land in Bellmawr, NJ, right across the river from Philly. It was a three page article, but I have no idea what the source was. It talked about how it would feature a direct link to historic Philadelphia, and the different areas of the park. Anyone else heard anything about this? It was a very interesting article, and would be even more exciting if I could verify a source!

Well how about a theme park centered around Marvel comic book characters right there in Orlando? I'm thinking what an awesome range of possibilities that would present.
8 days and counting to WDW & Pop Century

I'm not an Imagineer or anything, but Disney can certainly make investments into more mature-minded rides without hurting the little kiddies. I mean, TOT and EE aren't for little kids, but they are very popular.

And here's another thing, too. Some little kids aren't scary. They think so-called scary rides as the fun rides. It's all in how you package them.

But I personally do not see Disney opening new parks. And if they did, it will be in Florida. They still have acres and acres of land that they have already bought that isn't developed. Plus, Disney's parks are in Southern California and Florida for a reason. (great weather)

But I think that what you will see are re-engineering existing rides and theme parks. They are doing a good job with looking into the Star tours and Space Mountain. More of that sort of stuff may occur in the near future.

Oh, and I can see the Marvel comics slowly showing up in DHS. They might have some stunt show with the characters in order to introduce them to DHS. But I do not see any new gates or parks opening in the US for a long time.

I really only see "one" big addition to the WDW Parks and that would be for a Marvel Super Hero section in Hollywood Studios or Magic Kingdom. Having a Marvel section with a few coasters/simulators would definitely detour people away from Universal's Islands of Adventure parks and gain them much profit. I'm sure Disney had the idea of a "Marvel" World ever since they pursued Marvel for its license. They don't need to make a completely new park but just add-on to DHS or MK. Instead of fully updating/changing the Space Mountain ride to the Paris (?) version they are only giving it minor updates such as new track replacements/theme. Why not fully update it? Well because they are planning to make a super hero section with coasters at one of their parks to compete with Universal.

Mark my words. 2012 seems so far away though!

I dont think the weather is important at all - it didnt affect their decision to build parks outside america! Weather in Paris can be impressive cold (including real snow in the winter), and dont forget at Tokyo the equivalent of Main Street is even covered to help sheild guests from the weather.

Disney cannot build a Marvel Theme Park because of the licensing Deal Universal signed with Marvel 10 years ago. They have an exclusive deal in place that no other Theme Park can make any Marvel Character Ride east of the Mississippi River for as long as Universal wants to keep the contract. Disney can get the rights back from Universal, if they change or close an attraction. So if Universal wants to update Spiderman they would need Marvel's ok, now that Disney owns Marvel I doubt they would give the ok to update the ride. Universal is going to have to either update the Marvel rides to compete with other theme parks or close them eventually because of the age of the rides, then Disney will be able to get the rights back to do what they want with the Marvel Characters.
