Does anyone out there have two membership numbers? We are currently purchasing a 100 point resale at OKW, our home resort, but a different use year (Aug vs. Jun). I'm told that this will probably require a 2nd membership number and the two contracts will not be tied together.

Does anyone else have this? If so, how do you do ressies? I know I could use them totally separately as if I were two different owners, but will it be possible to combine them into the same ressie?

I've been told 'probably' a 2nd membership number. Does anyone know for sure what Disney does, or has done.

Thanks for any answers

We have two membership numbers -- one at VB and one at OKW. They are both the same use year. With different properties, they gave us different numbers. I just finished using both of them to make one reservation for August at BWV. Even though you use two different numbers, the reservations can be linked together. We will have the same unit for the whole vacation.

We have two different use years and two different numbers. When you reserve, you just reserve part of the days with one contract and the rest of the days with the other and Member Services links the two reservations together so that they become one continuos reservation.

I have 2 membership numbers with different use years, too. My guide said she linked them in the Disney computer system, so when I call MS using one, MS will see that I have another and be able to see how many total points I own.

I have 3 contracts, 2 use years and 2 member numbers, BWV and OKW. I have never had a problem. I just tell Member Services the 2 numbers and they do the rest. Very easy. No problems.

I have 2 contracts at OKW with different numbers and use years. My wife is on one but not the other. I've added her as an associate member to the other contract so she can make resevations and the like.

It requires somewhat more attention to points accounting. You need to be very clear and specific when making reservations. You should know that there is considerably more flexibiltiy in exchanges in this circumstances that what is written in the guidebook.

Thanks for all the answers. I feel a lot more at ease about getting a 2nd membership number. It appears I just need to keep track of points on my end, and Disney will take care of ressies on their end and I'll be OK.

Thanks for your responses.

We have 4 contracts and 4 different use years and 4 different member numbers. It does get a little cumbersome, but MS has always been great about keeping everything straight and making ressies. Thus far I have not had to transfer any points either, but that is also an option. Just make sure you keep a running total of your points, use years and banking deadlines. I always ask for a written points accounting annually and ask for a verbal recap each time a reservation is made. Have MS help you with the details. Enjoy! :)

Doc,
You said you never had to transfer points. How does this work if the point need to "strattle a day." Can you make that days reservation with points from 2 different contracts, or have you just never had this situation?

As I understand it you can not transfer points that are banked or borrowed. I am concerned that restriction could cause me some problems. I bought my second contract last year. I did transfer points to make a DCL reservation for next November. I am now considering making a reservation next March, but it would have to be with borrowed points and it uses up all points available, so I might have a problem if I can't transfer and can't strattle days.

I have suggested a transfer to MS a few times, but they have always suggested merely borrowing points to accomplish the reservation. Transfers are a hassle for everyone involved (they would certainly prefer NOT to do that.)

If you can't transfer (you definitley cannot combine points), you will definitely need to borrow from the following year.

This has always worked well. It does require a little recordkeeping, but can be done.

Good Luck!

I have 3 contrats w/ 3 different use years and numbers. I have used 2 different points at times for ressie. I have transferred some from one to another. when I call I have a pretty good idea of what I want and explain it to MS and they have been great at helping . I understand the banking/borrowing and use yrs pretty well I do have some trouble though with my Dec use year but MS is alway very helpful.

I have two different use years and two different contact numbers, and own I at BWV and OKW. At times, it's a bit of a hassle keeping things straight, but it's never been a huge problem. One thing to know - you can switch points from one account to another ONCE a year. I did this recently, because I had 22 Boardwalk points which are expiring 07/31, and I was not going to be able to use them. They had been banked from last year. I needed those points to make a ressie for the night of June 30th, the night before I check into a Grand Villa at OKW, which was already booked with OKW points. I wanted to use those banked BWV points and combine them with 5 more for a studio at OKW, so I could at least be on property. (there will be only 2 of us there on the 30th). Anyway, they let me use my once a year privelege of switching some points over. They had to do this "manually", and it took a couple of days. I now cannot do this switch again until my next OKW use year which is April, 2002. MS has been great about keeping things straight.

Keep in mind that MS has significant flexibility when transferring points between contracts of a single owner. It is possible in certain situations to transfer points from one membership to another even if banked or borrowed. You ask when is this possible; I'll give you an example. Lets say you want to do the Alaskan Cruise. DVC must make the full reservation from one contract but you have 2 contracts and not enough poins in one and besides, you want to use up the points from both. They can transfer the points and allow you to book from one contract even though the points came from 2.

Obviously they prefer not to transfer points but there is some flexibility when necessary.
