Two hours to make dinning adrs

Since we usually travel at less crowded times in the parks and prefer very early dining times, I think I'm going to go back to winging it instead of making ADRs. We used to always do that, and with a couple of exceptions, it has not been an issue. For our May trip I only made ADRs for Artist Point and Jiko. The rest I'll wing.

That's the way we always were until we went last spring and couldn't get a single, solitary sit-down meal on-property.

There is nothing I hate more than trying to plan where we'd want to eat 6 months ahead of time. How RIDICULOUS is that! ! ! !

Anyway... we sucked it up and made a couple of ADRs for our Dec trip last year and as much as I hate the whole concept, at least we were able to eat.

Fast forward to where we are now getting ready for our spring '09 trip (above).

Let us know (sincerely) how your plan to "wing it" works out. Unless you're going to be outside the magical gates, I just don't see that working for anyone anymore. Call me a skeptic if you like but I just don't see it happenin'. Best of luck to ya.

Is everyone calling at 7am et sharp? I wonder if folks are getting through later on in the day and that is what is helping move things along.

Does vacation planning really have to be so hard and stressful.....hehe

It's normal for a new system to have some glitches, but this seems really ridiculous to me. I hope Disney is able to get this straightened out ASAP. People shouldn't have to hold so long to make dining reservations, that's for sure!

I have had many problems with MS in making dining plans over the years. We always eat at least 2 TS meals per day, so I am very well versed in making ADRs, and I've had some really unprepared and complicated MS personnel trying to make ADRs. Last time, she actually connected me to Disney Dining as she just couldn't get anything right - she messed up times, mixed up confirmation numbers, etc. I am a very concise and organized speaker, so there was no issues on my end.

My track record with MS is that about 40% of the time, I have to go through Disney Dining as MS has Dining issues, so now with the new system, I can totally see how there are issues as I've had past issues without any new system in place.

I wish luck to all making ADRs - I have to call in a few weeks for our July trip which is 2 TS meals per day, and somedays 3, so hopefully, it all works out.

Tiger :)

Rules number one and two in customer service, they should...-

1) Get your name
2) Get your phone number to call you back if the call is lost.

I'm sure Disney has the same policies as everywhere else, but apparently it's up to us to enforce them.

I do not wait on hold for more than 10 minutes except if it's for the IRS. I'll simply hang up and try another day, an different time of day. Hold is better than a busy signal, but not by much.

I have been wondering and wondering WHY nobody on the DVC forums has said anything about the ADR nightmare!

I have been following the threads on the restaurant forum, and this is what I think so far:

-There is some sort of cut off date for the old ADR system vs. the new. When you call you are given 2 choices, ADRs before this date, or ADRs after. The ones that are "after" are the problem.

-Split stays are a problem. You have to call back 90 days from your second check-in, even if your first ressie is not 10 days long.

-Nobody seems to be able to book Sci Fi for anything. It is very odd.

-Since everybody is now competing for slots at 90 days I think the call volume is actually much greater than it was when ADRs were 180 days.

-The new system will go live for online booking whether it works or not.

I would be perfectly happy to book my ADRs at 11 mos. when I book my home resort. No lie. I am THAT rigid and freaky about my ADRs. We have 40 more days before we can make ADRs. I submitted my requests to IPO weeks ago. I will come UNGLUED if we can't get the times and places we want, because calling on my own at the 180 mark we always got everything. Last August we had 23 ADRs, and I didn't have a problem booking any of them.

You might want to borrow one of those white jackets with the extra long sleeves. No joke.

Can we call and make ADR's with MS when I book my vacation? It is over the 90 days but I would like some ADR's.

OK. Since we're wishing.

I wish they'd do away with ADRs all-together. First-come, first-served baby!

I remember the days when people would rush into EPCOT, not to make it to the rides, but to get to the reservations kiosk first. We were only allowed to make reservations ON the day we were dining... and we thought it was bliss being able to make the adr, meander around the lagoon and find we had minimal wait to get in :rotfl:

I remember on my senior trip in high school, getting into the MK and RUNNING to the castle to get a reservation for later in the day! (This was before the character/kid stuff.) We didn't do the running around when we were younger going with my grandparents.

But seriously, I like having some knowledge of before going on my trip, where I'll be able to eat and what to expect. I would NOT be happy if they went back to the old way. No thank you. I want to make my ADR's!
