We're off to HHI this week-end (Yipeee), and I have two questions for you experts out there.

I checked at the official WDW site, and it indicated that there were VCR's in the 1br and 2br. Have they been converted to DVD players yet? If not, is it easy to rent or borrow a DVD player locally?

Also, we're going at an incredibly busy time - spring break for NY and MA (and most of NH), and who knows where else. We've only been there once before, and the resort wasn't too busy. Should we book some of the activities ahead of time, or just wait until we get there?

TIA!

We were there last week in a 1BR.

They still have VCR's - no DVD's.

As far as the activities, the only one we tried (other than B'Lou Crabbes tales - which were WONDERFUL!), was the tour of the Island.

We were only there for 3 nights, so we had to take the tour on Tuesday. We called Monday morning before we left for Beaufort for the day. I wasn't able to speak to a CM, directly, so I had to leave a message requesting our reservation.

When we got back Monday night, they had left a message on our phone (I think it came in around 11:00 am) saying that the 9:30 tour was full, and they would be running another one at 1:30. We had plans to go to the Low-Country Shrimp Boil that night, so we opted to skip it.

As luck had it, it rained that day off and on, so they cancelled the Shrimp Boil, so we missed out on everything. ...Sorta disappointing, as I hear the tour is really good.

I know there were a lot of spring-breakers there that week, also. We've been to the resort twice before in March and, though the island is pretty busy, the Disney resort never seems crowded.

What a great place.... :)

There is a Hollywood Video and a Blockbuster. Also HHI has the worst movie selection of all the DVC resorts. I have always thought maybe each resort could join the Disney Movie Club and get alot of movies. I saw on the Sony website that they have a portable dvd player that is the size of a walkman. you can hook it up to the front jacks on the Tv or vcr. it was only $89 on sony.com, which means it would be around $50 at W-mart or C.city.

I'd book any activities you feel are "must dos". At least that way you've covered some of your bases.
