Two car rental questions

Hey everyone, my first time renting a car, so I have two questions:

1.) Do I need to bring my proof of insurance with me (like my car insurance policy?)

2.) The alamo online check-in. Good idea/bad idea? Better to go to the kiosk? What have been people's experiences of this. (I will be adding a second driver who will be with me, I've heard of them being charged if you use online check-in? Any experiences with this?)

Cheers!

1) When we rented from Hertz in May, we didn't have to show proof, but we had it "just in case".

2) I don't know and am interested in knowing the answer to this as we have a reservation in Sept.

Second drivers are an extra charge, I "think" $25.00. I, personally, always carry a copy of my insurance coverage with me. I was asked once, during the hard sell portion to purchase their insurance coverage, if I was covered.

Check in on line it faster you just pick up your bags and walk to your car. There going to charge you for a second driver no matter which way you do it. I never assign a second driver.

If you are an Alamo Insider (free to join), then your Significant Other can be added for free.

Unless you are an Insider member you will be charged for the additional driver. If you are an Insider member and you are charged, you can have it fixed at the exit booth. The cost for the add. driver is 10.00 per day. The kiosk is fast and easy and the add. driver usually does not show up as a charge (it will show on the left hand side with all the listed charges, but, will not carry over to the right hand side), again, assuming you are an Insider member. If you aren't.... join, it is free.

The additional driver charge is 10.00 per day. Alamo does not ask for proof of insurance. They don't care, they have your credit card information.

They do not charge you for an add. driver if you are an Insider member. One add. driver is free.

We rent with our VISA card to get the free "lose of use" coverage. Something to look into.

Checking in at the kiosk was easy and quick. We are Insiders.
