Twinkie Tiramasu?

I saw the top 10 snacks in WDW, as ranked in the Unofficial Guide 2007, and noticed something called the Twinkie Tiramasu at the POP. Has anyone tried this? I am not a big fan of regular tiramasu (I don't like coffee, if it's what I am thinking it is). Is this much different? We will be staying at the POP and would like to try something "exclusive" to our resort, even if it is "only" a value

I tried it, and liked it! It had a mild coffee flavor, but not too much.

I like it...but it does have a similar taste to real tiramasu, you will taste the coffee.

If you don't like coffee, you might try the tie dyed cheesecake at POP instead - if you can get by the wild colors of the filling (purple, red, yellow, blue, etc. swirled)!

Here's the Twinkie Tiramisu recipe from POP so you can see if it sounds like something you'd like to eat or not:

Twinkle Tiramisu
from Pop Century Resort

ESPRESSO SYRUP

1/3 cup water
½ cup sugar
2/3 cup strong brewed espresso coffee
¼ cup Italian brandy (optional)

Combine water and sugar in small saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally to dissolve sugar. Remove from heat, cool and add coffee and opt. brandy.

MASCARPONE FILLING

1 ½ cup heavy whipping cream
1/3 cup sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1 lb. mascarpone cheese, room temp.

Whip cream, sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form. Fold cream into softened mascarpone.

12 Twinkies, sliced ½-inch thick

Cocoa powder for light dusting

ASSEMBLY

1. Place a layer of the Twinkie slices in the bottom of a shallow 2-quart baking dish.

2. Drizzle with half the espresso syrup.

3. Spread with half the mascarpone filling.

4. Repeat with remaining twinkie, syrup and mascarpone filling.

5. Smooth top with spatula.

6. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.

Sorry-dumb Brit question now-what are twinkies? I always hear them mentioned on your TV shows but not sure what they are-are they the chocolate spongey things with the white cream inside?

Twinkies are spongy with white cream on the inside, but not chocolate. Just a soft yellow cake. We didn't get the tiramisu last time, but plan to this time. However, we had tie-dyed cheesecake several times, and since it was a hit with our family, I've even made it at home, too. My favorite WDW quick-snack dessert was a pack of zebra domes from Animal Kingdom Lodge. Those were incredible!

I believe these are ALL made by Hostess.

From another Brit.. The cocolate covered jeely rolls are called swiss rolls here a twinkie is a cake like roll filled with cream but not chocolate covered.

My DD8 couldn't get enough of those! She would of had us take a suitcase filled with those home, if we'd let her...
