Oooh you're way ahead of me now! :cheer2: I had heard that 8 really had a cliff hanger. I'm kind of glad I still have 3 more of them to read so I don't have to wait so long for book 9!:goodvibes

I didn't really feel 8 was a big cliff hanger. It clearly leads to something that could be big. But thankfully it did not leave me aching with maddness for more. The big action scenes are surprisingly closer to the middle of the book. Book 7 though - phew!! OMG major end action. :thumbsup2

Thank you! I'll have to see if the library close to my son's preschool has books three and four. Mine does, but they're checked out right now. :guilty:

See if you can get on the waiting list maybe?

P.S. Lynn, you did not comment on my frozen Edward doll! I live for this stuff!!! :rotfl:

mel i leave here for a little bit and come back and youve gone mental on me...so what?? do you take him out for a bit and lay down with him so you can see what its like to feel cold hard stone body???? remember where Alice lived as a human??? your heading there missy....:rotfl:

I think we run into the book vs movie thing any time a movie is made that was originally based on a book. It's hard for me to try to talk to my DH (who is not a big reader) about Harry Potter, because of rather big changes they've made in the past few, leaving certain characters out, etc.

It's just difficult when you're so emotionally invested in a story line and you have to watch all the rumors fly about casting and everything, I totally understand.

Hopefully, we have nothing to worry about, and the movie will be fantastic. And if not, we still have the books, right? I know that my imagination...ahem...may beat a good movie on any day. :lmao:

Isle Esme, anyone? ;)

ya I know you are right...I just wished I hadnt loved the books so much and read them 5,45984567489694156 times before the movie came out...thats mainly the reason why I havent read the HP books yet....Im waiting for the last movie to be released then I will start them...I get so disappointed...and I hear what you say about book vs movie but you know maybe if they wouldnt keep saying "we're keeping this along the lines of the book" so often then maybe I wouldnt have my expectations so high....

You know that unfortunately that is photoshopped, right?

Exactly! Same with Kristen Stewart and the make-up artists. That irks me to no extent! Give the makeup artists to the ugly people (like me!) :rotfl:

:rotfl2: that made me almost pee my pants...for sure right? why cant we get photoshopped????

Since we're talking Photoshopped pics...

Ok, don't know about Forks (though I'd love to go!) or Jacksonville, but how about a Gulf Coast trip? Alice does have a long lost niece in Biloxi!:thumbsup2

I missed this post earlier! A Biloxi meet-up would be great because I'm moving to Baton Rouge this weekend so I'll be close :thumbsup2

Okay, I never ever ever do this...I'm embarassed to even do it now. But I just have to post this picture. I know he's only 22...I know I'm ELEVEN YEARS older than him...I know it's TOTALLY WRONG of me...I feel like a dirty old woman...but GOOD LORD look at this photo!!!! :faint:

Welcome to the club!:wave2:

I can put up with changes because we have already been through all of the HP changes, I just hope they make a high quality product. I have only seen it 3 times, but everytime I have gone and even when I have seen other movies (I know... "why?"- blame DH) There are way more adults in the audience or in line to see it. With all the talk of it being a "teen" thing and the limited Blu-ray release it seems as if they are missing a big part of their market.

I agree. I was at Ruby Tuesday yesterday with my Twilight book (only one ral friend in town so I'm always by myself). The waitress noticed it and started talking to me about the series. This happens to me all the time.

Anyway, we got to talking about the new director and I was saying that I have some high hopes. Twilight was good considering the budget, but Catherine Hardwicke is a teen in an adult's body. The one thing that I think makes these books appealing to such a wide audience is that Bella and Edward aren't your typical teenagers. Over and over again it is emphasized how Bella is very mature for her age (My mom says I was born middle aged and get older every year), and while Edward does tend to overreact, he is still not a typical teenager. I did not get that at all from the movie. The meadow scene especially was just way too angsty and whiny for me. In the book when he says "as if you could outrun me, as if you could fight me off" he is whispering it. It is a much more intimate moment than how it was portrayed in the movie. Honestly, the whole meadow scene in the movie pissed me off.

The same thing with the fight scene. That is probably my favorite scene in the book and it was a complete 180. I didn't like that Carlisle had to pull Edward off of James because in the book Edward immediately goes to Bella. That is his concern. And it makes no sense to me that Carlisle is okay with the others killing James but not Edward. What's up with that? The other part is when Carlisle is telling him to stop. Yes, in the book Edward thought he wasn't going to be able to stop, but he did it without Carlisle or Alice's help. To me this is a huge distinction and really changes his character.

I know that is kind of nitpicky, but things liike that just bug me. I don't mind changes except when they change the personality of the characters themselves, and to me that is what Twilight did in some ways. (Don't get me wrong, still loved the movie, but I'm hoping that a new director can take it in a different direction.) I admit, it will be hard not to have New Moon be very angsty given the plotline, but I'm hoping to get out of this woe is me teenager stuff that was so prevalent in the first movie and really showcase some more depth to the characters.

Dude, I hear ya... I saw it again today (3rd time) and I think I should have left it at two. I was freaking out the first time, the second was calmer and smoother, but this time I had time to re-nitpik. LOL Ah well.....

One thing (of the few ... but I don't want to bash) I noticed that have probably already been discussed:

1)Why don't Jasper and Alice "sparkle" when they're at the airport in Arizona or around town?

I forget the answer to this question though I know it's been answered before.

2) I think that in Edwards room, on his book case, is the set of antlers that is seen during the "when my ancestors were descended from wolves" story that Jacob Black tells Bella while walking on the beach... they flashback to the Cullens hunting and it looks like there are antlers ripped off of the "prey". I hadn't noticed that before and this time, like i said, I think I noticed them on Edwards bookshelf. Kinda cute!

3) I think after all the parodies I've watched that the special effects just look so much worse (I really tried to stay awy from them, too! - Say it... SANTA CLAUS!). Blech.

Oh well.. the enchantment wasn't meant to last forever. I am eagerly awating the next installment (but first, of course, is the DVD of extra's!) You know what... I may not even see it again even on DVD before I see New Moon. I want it to settle into memories... maybe they will be kinder.

Don't get me wrong, EDWARD IS STILL HOT and I had SO MUCH FUN with the movie and all the side trips (which I have more scheduled in April for touring the shooting locations.. it's with the Twilightmoms.com and should be really fuN!). And I love the books. But man...that movie was pretty bad in parts. Even still, I am a fan. I will always be.

The person who went with me to see Twilight today said, "There was a lot of close-up's of Edward's eyes... dun dun DUNNNNNNN"

:lmao:

I never heard that about the antlers. That was another issue I had- whenever it shows them hunting they are hunting cute little fuzzy deer? Where the hell are the mountain lions or bears? Maybe the director was trying to underscore how dangerous they are ("oh look at the cute little baby deer- oh no! the big bad vampire ate the cute little baby dear!) but again, it changes the character. I think showing them with a bear or mountain lion would have emphasized the danger more.

I think the reason Alice and Jasper don't sparkle is that you have to be in direct sunlight and they are always in the shade or under artificial lights. After all, in Volterra Edward doesn't sparkle even though he is right at the edge of the shadow.

Apparently I am in a pissy mood tonight. I don't normally get this nitpicky with movies!

I agree with the both of you.

Espically the meadow part. that was awful compared to the book. It seemed as if he was throwing a temper tantrum about the whole thing. And the personalities were off.

I went with a gal that was just about half way through Twilight, and was gonna just skip to the next book since she was seeing the movie. I told her she needed to finish it because there was so much there that they missed.

I do hope that the next movie follows the book a little better. Sometimes it happens, like the 2nd Harry Potter was way off from the book. And in the 3rd they got a new director and went back to the storyline.

I understand that they cant put everything from the book in. But sheesh stick to the main parts and we'll all be happy.

TravelMel- You tour sounds fun. Cant wait to read about it.:)
