Wow. I never really thought about those descrepancies between the movie and the book. I mean, obviously I knew things were different, and sure I felt like characters were a bit different as well, but it never really bothered me.

Don't lynch me. :duck: (Sorry, I just had to use that smilie, it's so dang cute.)

Anyway, I guess I've always been really good at keeping film and book separate, and for me, I loved the movie. Even with its inconsistencies to the book.

And I LOVED Edward in the film. There were so many points were I was watching and I just felt, that's him. And that was really nice. :goodvibes

I agree! I am not a huge reader in general but I have read all the Twilight books. I have always been able to keep book and movie version seperate because I know that they can't put the same amount of book detail into the movie! I am able to completely enjoy them each! I LOVED the books and I LOVED the movie!

Can't wait for more...of both!:thumbsup2

I can't wait for the movie to come out on DVD as well, so I can share it with my husband. I would love to have been able to take him to see it in the theater, but it just wasn't possible.

See i agree about the amount of detail from the book...BUT they changed the dumbest things... The meadow scene, Rosalie's car, adding a field trip instead of the blood typing scene..where was the tree that Bella and Jacob sit on and talk at La Push???? Even the hospital scene when Edward saves Bella..the book part was so much better and i think that is where the relationship starts..or when he calls her over to sit with him in the cafeteria( i loved that part..lol) IDK i guess i just feel like they changed things that were so little, but meant so much to the movie...i mean come on couldn't they get Rosalie a BMW M3 (like in the book) instead of a Mercedes???? OK i guess i'm in a nitpicky mood too..lol :flower3:

I know what you mean. It's me, my husband, and my son who will be four in February. I do have to say, thank goodness that boy loves him some Disney movies! Right now we're watching Beauty and the Beast, bless him. It's my favorite princess movie. Who knew you didn't have to have daughters to be able to watch a good princess flick? :lmao:

:welcome:

I think that's a great idea. There is quite a history here! :goodvibes

There were definetley a lot of things changed from the book to the movie... but I haven't read the book yet. I really want to so badly!!! However, I don't know about reading the series; some of my friends told me that the last book is really b-o-r-i-n-g. Plus when I saw the movie, guh, a LOT of :sad2: parts in it! The funniest thing in the movie (actually, there were a lot) was all of the eye close-ups! (dun dun DUN...):crazy2:

See i actually enjoyed Breaking Dawn. I didn't think it was boring at all. I enjoyed the fact that Bella became a strong woman and didn't have to be rescued all the time.
You should read the books, you'll like them!!:thumbsup2

I've tried to work hard at keeping book and movie separate...I feel like I have to do that with a lot of books and movies...but it is hard to not nit pick. my biggest peeve is that to me at least Edward looks ugly through most of the movie...which is weird considering that when Rob Pattinson is himself, he is REALLY hot. But I feel like they made him look so ugly(which I didn't even know was possible) through most of the movie..:confused3 :confused3 I saw it 3 times in theaters and it was the first thing I noticed seeing it the first time and then it bothered me more and more each time I saw it...:sad2:

i agree, especially about the blood typing scene, that would have been so...:faint: nice to see.
my dd saw the movie first and is about halfway through the first book and points out every single difference to me.
i'm not having a hard time with the differences, but there are a few things that i would have liked to see inthe movie.

Does anyone know why I can't get "Eclipse" in paperback? Amazon says that I have to pre-order it but they have it in paperback for the spanish version. :confused3 I just finished "New Moon" and I really don't want to have to buy it in hardcover...but I may have no choice. I don't think I can wait!

I agree with the both of you.

Espically the meadow part. that was awful compared to the book. It seemed as if he was throwing a temper tantrum about the whole thing. And the personalities were off.

I went with a gal that was just about half way through Twilight, and was gonna just skip to the next book since she was seeing the movie. I told her she needed to finish it because there was so much there that they missed.

I do hope that the next movie follows the book a little better. Sometimes it happens, like the 2nd Harry Potter was way off from the book. And in the 3rd they got a new director and went back to the storyline.

I understand that they cant put everything from the book in. But sheesh stick to the main parts and we'll all be happy.

TravelMel- You tour sounds fun. Cant wait to read about it.:)

The meadow scene was a HUGE dissappointment to me and even though I dont think she would ever admit it publicly it probably was a dissappointment to SM as well. I kept witing for one of them to say "Can we just hurry up and get on with declaring our love for one another cause I'm late for class. " I mean come on the meadow is behind the school now?? WTH??

Since we are being nitpicky about cars what was up with Edwards Volvo:thumbsup2 Come on a hatchback??????

Exactly. I thought that was odd.

I also agree where did the field trip come from? The blood typing scene was better by far.

And the one at lunch when he "demands" that she sit with him. That would have been fun to watch.

Ok one more nitpic for today.

Did anyone else notice that Edwards make-up was never consitant? He was pale, then he was normal, then super pale, back to 5 oclock stuble? And Carlisle was the only one that seemed "deathly" pale the whole time. :confused3 :lmao:

I agree. After being dissapointed by many book-to-film adaptations before, I decided to view both things as completely seperate. After that I haven't really had a problem with any of them, unless they're simply god-awful.

The Spanish versions only come in paperback. However, there is a paperback edition of Eclipse, I see it all the time at my local Borders.

Hi I'm new to this board! :wave2:

Regarding Rob's makeup: My theory on this is Rob has what I call Dawson's Creek Syndrome, a pain in the butt to make up artists everywhere. Basically this is when a guy needs to shave right after he gets done shaving. As a girl that needs to shave right after I get done shaving, I can totally understand. His stubble was so bad I actally checked out his arm hair, and it was really thick. Always a give away for Dawson's Creek Syndrome.

I also think this movie suffered from low budget syndrome compounded by a director that didn't have enough experience on where and how to spend her money right.

I think with a larger budget and a director with more experience, that should help a lot for the next movie. Sadly, I think they will not be able to resist adding more Rob to the movie. Not that he's not great, he is, but he's just not in the book that much. I hate when they do that, but Rob is the "break out star" on this and not Kristen, so they'll want to draw the audience in. On the bright side, if we can get through New Moon and it makes a lot of money we're more on track to get the other books made.

Hmm, I wonder why I couldn't order it online then. I'm not close to a Borders and we have a big snow storm coming in, so I think I will just have to go with the hardcover, I'm too impatient. :goodvibes

Actually, the paperback edition is the Spanish edition. The paperback edition of Eclipse has yet to come out.

Don't get me wrong, EDWARD IS STILL HOT and I had SO MUCH FUN with the movie and all the side trips (which I have more scheduled in April for touring the shooting locations.. it's with the Twilightmoms.com and should be really fuN!). And I love the books. But man...that movie was pretty bad in parts. Even still, I am a fan. I will always be.
so you're going to go to Vancouver or Forks or where? man I hope you guys get in there like last year but Im really thinking its all going to be a closed set no matter where they go...last year TM's got to sit right on the set several times but I dont think you guys will get any where near there this time around...*crossing my fingers for you*

I saw an interview with Catherine and she was asked why they had them by the school vs. the meadow and she said that because of the time of year they were filming and how cold it was, they could never get to a place close enough to what they were looking for and time was running out so they had to change things around...I understand that logic...things happen:confused3

ok um I have to disagree with you...I am NOT a fan of Catherine Hardwicke at all...however, she is not an inexperienced director..she just has always done these indie films...and I think she really thought Twilight was going to be one of them...heck the cast themselves thought the same...they were given a low budget because everybody thought that and I think she did the best should with what she was given...I just dont think Twilight was the movie she should have been given because we all knew it would blow up so thats probably why they gave it to Chris because he doesnt do indie and low budget films...hes all about the fantasy...however, I do agree with you about Rob being in the movie much more than he should be...I am totally against that and I pitched a fit on here the other day and that is one of the things Im frustrated with...not sure if you are aware of this based upon your comment but they are making eclipse...they are going to film back to back new moon/eclipse so Im pretty sure we are ok with that one...Im just wondering if they are going to do BD....
