4 of us went last night--theatre was packed--movie was incredible!
I thought it was amazing how the entire theatre was just "buzzing" then the movie starts it went dead quiet...the Cullen family enters the cafeteria at school and it was just a collective *gasp*--it was so cool having everyone on the "same page" as how I was feeling!

I know.. I saw it in a room full of fanatics and it was the same type of thing. They were very good, well behaved, it was ME! The first appearance of Edward I was one of the loudest WOO'S! :lmao: After that I was very good and so was everybody else.

Have to agree with the poster who remarked about Edward making a face when Bella steps into Biology class and stands in front of the fan--very exaggerated.

Sadly, I heard Rob in an interview remark that he didn't want the role initially because he thought the actors would have to be campy and he didn't want to be "or hope we weren't" oops.

I had Jacob pictured differently in my head...more of a "chiselled" look with strong features(jawline and cheekbones), in the movie he has such a cute baby face!
I felt the same way BUT my friend reminded me this: You're thinking of New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn Jacob. This is 15 yr old little boy Jacob. Maybe that helps? It did for me.

DS-inlaw and myself both were disappointed with the Cullen house, not at all what we had imagined--too art deco on the exterior.
I thought it was pretty modern and realistic, especially here in the PNW where you never know what you're going to get. The setting was all pretty wonderfully accurate for me.

Will see it again and definately will buy it when it comes out!

I'm definitely buying a copy. I want to see it again already.

Just saw this online. I can't wait to see what they do with this one. New Moon is a Go

This quote from the above article cracked me up:

Hence, the announcement of Robert Pattinson's favorite book being turned into a movie - news that will surely send Taylor Lautner to the gym immediately. Keep your eyes on MTV, Twilighters, as we'll have more news about the box-office take and "New Moon" in the next few days.

Okay, I just got back from seeing it a second time. Another one of my friends went this morning and said it was much different the second time. She also thought it was a bit ridiculous the first night. So I decided to give it another go.

I think because I had such high expectations I was picking on the movie too much the first time. But this time, I just let myself enjoy it. Granted, I still couldn't get over some of the facial expressions, but I honestly liked it about a hundred times more than I did Thursday night. Robert did start to embody Edward for me this time, and Kristen just got better as Bella. She's almost exactly as I pictured her.

I am genuinely excited for New Moon now! I haven't felt like this since before reading Breaking Dawn. :lmao:

I just got back from seeing it with DBF and I loved it. DBF on the other hand was a whole other story

Like everyone else, there were things I like and things I didn't.

The good:
- The Harry Potter trailer at the beginning! I know for some it wasn't on their print (my manager who saw it Friday said it wasn't on hers) and I was worried it wouldn't be on mine, but it was the very first trailer played. It gives me goosebumps every time I watch it.

- Robert Pattinson was perfect as Edward. I had always been all for Robert in this role and the movie just solidified my belief in that.

- Charlie was completely adorable and the actor who played him was perfect. I loved the pepper spray and especially the gun part.

- Cam Gigandet as James was fantastic. He was so convincing as the bad guy and yet so hot at the same time

- The whole cast actually was pretty great in their roles. I thought the casting director did a really good job choosing all the actors.

- The baseball scene was great. The music worked so well for it and all of the cast shined then. I loved seeing all the Cullens together like that and wish there had been some more of that throughout the movie.

- The prom scene was gorgeous. Iron & Wine's song couldn't have been more perfect. It was completely different from what I pictured the prom to be like in the book, but I loved it. Much more romantic and a really good way to end the film.

The bad:
- Edward's face in the biology class scene was so ridiculous, both DBF and I cracked up laughing. The covering his mouth bit was just too much.

- Not enough Cullens! I loved each of the actors who were picked, I thought they were all great in their roles, but wish I could have seen a bit more of them, especially Alice! I thought her friendship with Bella was an important part of this story and the other 3 that follow that I'm kind of bummed they downplayed it so much.

- I love, love, love Jasper in the books and I love Jackson Rathbone as Jasper, but I couldn't get over his facial expressions at times. I liked how he was during the baseball scene the most, he was adorable there flipping the bat around. DBF hated him and he laughed almost every time he was on screen. He said Jasper looked like the love child of Robert Smith and Derek Zoolander :rotfl:

- The sparkling effect kind of made me laugh. At first Edward just looked super sweaty. When he did sparkle though it reminded me of something from the show Arrested Development (diamond cream anyone?) and when I told DBF about it he burst out laughing. The good thing is that I expected it to look A LOT cheesier.

- Jacob's hair is AWFUL :scared1: It just looks so, so bad. And when he wore the beanie he just looked like a darker Jay from Jay and Silent Bob. The hair really took away from his good looks.

- The waitress was terrible, they honestly couldn't have picked a more unappealing look for her.

- And lastly, I liked Kristen as Bella looks wise, but not personality wise as much. I felt that she really under played the whole leaving Charlie scene. I also could not stand how much she blinked sometimes and how she would sometimes talk. She did a lot of stuttering, umm-ing, uhh-ing, sighing and was really overly breathy. I understand that it was needed for certain scenes, but it was a bit over the top sometimes.

So, all in all, two thumbs way, way up :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
I desperately want to see it again already, but DBF would probably rather stick rods of bamboo under his fingernails then sit through Twilight again :rotfl:

Wow, we pretty much agree on everything Arelys! Including how DBF hated it.:rotfl:

I have now seen it twice. I definately enjoyed it much better the second time. I think watching it the first time, I was too caught up in the is it following the book perfectly, which I knew it wouldn't.

I did feel the love story was rushed, but you do get the point. I thought Kirsten Stewart did a great job as Bella and I loved Rob Pattinson as Edward. I really could see his emotions on his face, which I loved.

Am I the only one that when I saw Jasper and his facial expressions think of Johnny Depp. Both times I watched it, I was imediately reminded of him. Definately Edward Scissorhands. I loved Jasper, even though you did not get alot of him. Alice will definately be one of my favorites. I can she where she will be great in the future. She is so kind.

I LOVED the Baseball scene, probably my favorite. And one of my favorite lines was: Easy Kitte (Carlisle to Rosalie). You definately felt Rosalie's witchiness.

Can't wait for the New Moon, even thought this was my least favorite of the books. I will definately being seeing this movie again with some other friends.

Didn't anyone notice that Victoria SPOKE in this film? She doesnt until the next book..... just curious if anyone else caught it.

Also my daughter saw it for a 3rd time last night, and from a tip I read, Edward does mouth the words "I love you" after he says "You are my life now" when the cars take off in the garage. How cool!!

Really, I thought that scene with her leaving felt pretty emotional. I felt like alot of scenes went by SO QUICKLY and I actually "got it" when she was having trouble leaving and not hurting him.

Her blinking was KILLING ME... wholley COW :rolleyes2: However, I saw her on Letterman (only because my real love, Steven Colbert, was on - sorry Edward but Steven is my man ;) ) and she was blinking up a storm. And she was breathy and annoying (I know, I know she's super great and alot of you love her but me.. not so much. It's ok.) in real life. It helped to know that it was natural to do all that blinking and not something she thought up to be a good angsty actress.

I agree with tons of what you said! We were on the same page for most of the movie, I think. Except James. Blech. Double yuck. And overall, I thought Bella was great as well. Same with Vicotoria... I thought she was REALLY good. She just looked great. Beautiful and fitting with her animal hide. ::yes::

she has a wicked curve ball:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: sorry sorry i just couldnt help that

O.k you got me! Now can you tell me what Victoria's "special power" was?;) I honestly can't remember.

I'm taking DD and her friend tonight I can't wait!!!:cheer2:

More Box Office News...

Twilight makes 72 million out of Opening Weekend

Summit Entertainment's low cost blockbuster Twilight opened huge as expected because of heavy pre-sales with $35.7M Friday. But early numbers show the front-loaded pic dropped a big but expected 40% to $22M Saturday. (Similarly front loaded Sex And The City also had a big Friday to Saturday fall...)With an estimated $14M Sunday from 3,419 theaters, including $7M worth of Thursday midnight shows, Twilight will end up with $72M for its first North American weekend in release. Fangirls -- or should I say fang-girls -- were buying 5 Twilight tickets per second as of early Friday morning, making it online ticket-seller Fandango's fastest-selling film since The Dark Knight last July. Then the tween and teen females in store bought or homemade Twilight clothes (and even Twilight tattoos) flocked to the first Big Screen version of Stephenie Meyer's bestselling series of Romeo & Juliet-style vampire romance books. Yet the movie adaptation was made by start-up studio Summit for only $37M. This will be the start of a big new franchise since a sequel is already in the works -- New Moon, based on Meyer's second book in the series. The first box office records have already been broken by Twilight's girl power. This is the biggest opening for a female director. Catherine Hardwicke is easily beating Mimi Leder's $41.1M for 1998's Deep Impact. (But with an asterisk since these figures aren't adjusted for inflation, ticket prices, etc.) Twilight will have the 2nd best opening day for a November release behind Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire, and the 11th best Friday opening of all time, beating the first Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone, and the 15th best opening day ever. It's a defining moment for Summit's start-up studio that had really struggled on its first few releases. On Saturday morning, Summit officially announced the greenlight for the New Moon sequel (I'm told to contain costs the studio is considering making sequels #2 and #3 back to back like other successful franchises have done), and Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart formally thanked fans for their support of what is now a movie franchise.

No. 2 was the new Bond pic Quantum Of Solace which was down 68% from its franchise record opening a week ago to earn $8.5M Friday from 3,458 venues. But its take jumped to $11.6M Saturday for a $27M weekend and new North American cume past $110M (passing $100M Saturday in just 6 days time). Going into Friday, Daniel Craig's 2nd turn as 007 has made $335M worldwide. The actioner opened in Australia and Spain to the biggest Bond openings ever. So MGM/Sony are looking at an overseas weekend in the high $30sM which will put international over $300M for a staggering $415M worldwide through Sunday.

Because Twilight played much younger than expected Friday, it took "that extra bite right out of Bolt," according to one studio mogul. As a result, Disney's toon starring the voices of John Travolta and Miley Cyrus debuted Friday with only $7M from 3,651 runs. But Saturday kiddie matinees came through for the pooch pic which gained 62% to earn $11.2M and a $27 million weekend for a close No. 3 even if less than expected. This family fare had the largest digital 3D release ever, opening at approximately 979 Digital 3D locations. Last Saturday, the studio sneaked the pic at around 880 theaters to build word of mouth.

DreamWorks Animation's toon sequel Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa distributed by Paramount came in No. 4 with $3.5M Friday and $6.7M Saturday from 4,007 dates for a $14.6M weekend a fresh $136M cume. And Universal's raunchy R-rated comedy Role Models continues to surprise by outperforming: at #5, it took in $1.5M Friday and $2.8 Saturday from 2,733 plays for a $6.8M weekend a new cume of $47.6M.

Oscar-touted Slumdog Millionaire expanded into 32 venues for a projected $938K weekend and 11th place. (The Fox Searchlight pic opened last Wednesday on 10 screens and this Wednesday grossed +54% on the same 10 screens. As one insider told me, "That never happens. As a point of reference, even Juno last year didn’t do this.") The pic had the 2nd best per screen average Friday behind only Twilight.

I just got back from the Lexicon Event in Tennessee, and I loved it! It was a neat atmosphere to watch the movie in, and I really enjoyed the movie. For the most part, I did not mind the changes they made, though there are one or two things I would have done differently. I won't say too much right now so that people who haven't seen it won't be spoiled. I will say that the previews did not accurately convey Kristen's performance. In the previews she sounds monotone and lacks facial expression, but that was not the case during the movie itself.

The event was neat. The theatre was huge and they had gift bags with all kinds of goodies and then a raffle. Included in the raffle were a bracelet and engagement ring. I wish my boyfriend or I had won one of the 50 prizes, but we didn't. It was still neat thought ;).

I've read all the books but I have to say the movie was a disappointment. It was like they skimmed the surface of the story and left out substance. I felt know connection with Bella and Edward. I hope they recast Bella. If the characters had some chemistry the movie might have worked but they lacked that from the start. I can't even say I liked it a little because it was that bad. What a shame because the books were very good. Bad actors and a bad movie. I will say I liked the actress that played Alice. That was the only good cast I think they made.
