Another fan here! Just finished all three of DD16's books in five days! We loved reading the first chapter of Edwards' perspective on Stephanie Meyer's website.
Can't wait for book 4 and the movie!

Isn't Midnight Sun incredible?!!! I can not wait for Stephenie to finish that one.

I just finished Eclipse last night and I was devastated! I don't want to give anything away since not everyone has read but I was just so sad.

I read Twilight (based on people in this thread saying they recommended it, actually!) and while I was reading it I definitely enjoyed it. However, I can't stand it when characters don't really grow or change at all from earlier books. I'm worried if I read the second one, it will still be all of Bella being like, "I love him but I can't have him" angst and I'll be angry.

So, knowing this... do you think I should get the second book?

I haven't read much of this thread just because I didn't want to accidently spoil something in the series so I'm sorry if this has been brought up before!!

Well I liked Bella but you are right, she is very angsty. It does get worse but in a different way. I would definitely read the next two if I were you. New Moon wasn't as good as Eclipse in my opinion but I don't want to tell you the reason and spoil it.

Yeah, you're probably going to hate New Moon. To be honest, you may not even finish it.
I know what you mean. I LOVE these books, they are like crack, but Bella gets on my nerves with her damsel-in-distressedness and the second book is pretty much the peak of that. A warning, she still hasn't grown or changed that much by the end of the third book.
Before everyone jumps me, I LOVE these books anyway. LOVE them, can't stay away from them.
But I can still see and be objective about their flaws. Maybe check it out from the library first. New Moon is my favorite but I gotta be honest here.

We lived in Washington for about 8 months a few years ago so out of curiosity I "googled" Forks, Washington and their official website (forkswa.com) has a section for their "claim to fame"-The Twilight Series!! It is really neat to see real pictures of the places that we have read so much about! Enjoy!

I have to agree while I love these books ( Edward ) Bella's whinning really gets on my nerves!!

I actually loved New Moon. I am rereading Twilight and can't wait to finish so I can read NM again. I just loved getting to know Jacob in this book. He was one character who really grew and changed.

I totally loved New Moon too. My take on Bella is that sure, she's portrayed as an "old soul" BUT she's still only 17. She in her "first love" which has taken over her whole life as first loves do. Her whining or pity party are genuine traits for her age and frankly, self esteem. So I think her inner conflict is actually her lack of experience and immaturity and her "old soul" and intelligence.


Her character's growth is slow going. She honestly believes herself to be plain and ordinary but based on Edward's versions of hearing the thoughts of the other kids at school, she's actually quite pretty. She's clumsy now, but I betcha when she finally changes she will be graceful (if not before).

I agree with you but it makes me wonder if she's old enough to make such a life "changing" decision. I love that Edward is trying to get her to have all the human experiences she can.

I will probably be through with Twilight tonight and start New Moon. I don't dislike Bella at all. I agree with the ones who says she is just going through normal things for her age and the fact that he's her first love.

OK..I don't wanna pick these apart because I'm just TOO excited to see things coming together, and MOST of the cast looks great, BUT, I AM SO FREAKIN DISTURBED with what they have done to EMMETT'S HAIR!!!!!

I mean..what were they thinking?? He had the most perfect natural curly hair..JUST like Emmett is SUPPOSED to have!!!

AND...AND..why is Jasper so blurry in all the pics?? Could it be that they are trying to hide the dead animal on top of his head??

I feel faint...

Roslie and Jasper both look like they're wearing wigs? Their hair looks like Barbie hair....fake. I kind of pictured Alice with a pixie cut but her hair is cute in the picture. Emmett's hair would look good annnny way. And Edward definitely looks like he's had some red put in his hair....and had his eyebrows trimmed.

But oh no! BAD BAD hair on most of them! That is seriously distracting! Jaspers hair is the worst by far, it is so prissy! I hope this isn't a reflection of the budget, LOL!
