Me too!
Also, Bella's spinelessness and constant need to be rescued irritates the stew out of me. Even with that, still love these books and can't wait until the next one!
ITA I was enjoying the books and then, it just got to me...her character became sooo weak!

Still much more positive in the books though.....a fun read.

Totally! BUT she's still only 17. Yes she's smart and an "old soul", but she has the appropriate maturity of a 17 year old. At least that's what I kept telling myself through out New Moon!

i just finished reading Twilight again with my sister this is her 1st time she kept calling me and wanted me to tell her what was gonna happen next ?:rotfl: there was even a time where she was on the phone reading it to me so that she could understand a part.. what a goofball, now she is half way through New Moon .
YES i know , I AMa twilight enabler :confused3 :rotfl: :lovestruc

Twilight alert! I spotted another mom reading Eclipse while waiting to pick her child up from school today:thumbsup2

My niece (28) was just telling me about Twilight. She loves it and I think I'll be heading out to Waldenbooks today!

just wanted to throw up some more authors

Mary-Janice Davidson (hilarious read..BEtsy the Vampire Queen)
Kim Harrison
Laurell K. Hamilton (she's been mentioned)
Rebecca York (I think she is mostly werewolves though..)

Ok, I got the first book and I can't seem to put it down! My son kept passing by me tonight and asking "are you still reading??"

Thanks for suggesting this. It is a good read so far. I am on chapter 9.
:yay:

OK, I officially am smitten with Edward! Waiting on the UPS truck today to deliver New Moon! I know what I'm doing this weekend.

Looks like still no luck in finding a Jacob for the movie.

I found this on the Twilight Lexicon today..

There is an article in the Yakoma Herald Today about there being an open call to fill the role of Jacob Black for the Twilight movie.

The next bit is copied from the casting agency’s MySpace which SillyBella graciously sent to me. If anyone from the agency is reading this and would prefer than we not list the items please email me at pelirroja_ljc@yahoo.com. I can’t directly link to the MySpace page because my work filtering software won’t let me.

Also, before everyone starts asking, to the best of my knowledge Stephenie has not given anyone the rights to do a sequel, but film companies standardly put sequels into an initial contract hoping to get the same actors if the film really takes off (Pirates of the Caribean anyone?). It’s their hope that then the author would want them to do a sequel if they do a good job on the first one and they have taken the first step to insure a successful sequel happens by making sure the original cast is available.

THE SEARCH IS ON FOR NATIVE AMERICAN TEEN TO PLAY KEY ROLE IN MAJOR MOTION PICTURE

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE SEARCH IS ON FOR NATIVE AMERICAN TEEN TO PLAY KEY ROLE IN MAJOR MOTION PICTURE

"Twilight" begins shooting in Oregon at the end of February

PORTLAND, ORE. Lana Veenker Casting announced today that it is seeking a 16-18 year old Native American male to play a significant role in the upcoming Summit Entertainment film "Twilight," directed by Catherine Hardwicke.

The film is based on the publishing phenomenon "Twilight," written by Stephenie Meyer, and is highly anticipated due to its popularity among young adults.

"Director Catherine Hardwicke is keen to find the right teenager for the role of Jacob," says Casting Director Lana Veenker, owner of the Portland, Oregon-based casting company. "Besides being an authentic Native American, he needs to have charm and charisma. At this point, Catherine is more concerned about finding someone with the right looks and personality, than she is about prior acting experience. And he needs to be available for sequels! This will be an amazing opportunity for one lucky teenager."

An open casting call will take place in Portland on Saturday, January 19, 2008, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm at Lana Veenker Casting, 2580 NW Upshur Street, Portland, Oregon 97212. Applicants who fit the age and ethnicity requirements for the role will have their photos taken and may be asked to read lines in front of the director.

Applicants who are unable to attend Saturday’s open call should email their contact information and a photo to talent@slateplease.com. More information is available on the casting company’s website at slateplease.com or on its MySpace page at myspace.com/lanaveenkercasting.

No other roles will be considered at the open call, but persons interested in working as extras on the film can send their information to Rutabaga Background Casting, the extras division of Lana Veenker Casting. Instructions are available at sayrutabaga.com.

Additional information about working as an extra is posted on the Rutabaga MySpace page at myspace.com/sayrutabaga.

This is also a few bits from Stephenie's Myspace Blog..

1) Breaking Dawn is in the editing phase. It it tentatively set for release Fall 2008. It could be later if we hit a snag in editing. Usually editing takes longer than a few months, but both I and my editors will be putting in lots of overtime to make this happen.

2) Midnight Sun is only half-written. It will not be coming out until a while after it’s finished. Don’t expect it anytime soon. I will let you know when the rough draft is finished, and then you can start asking when it is due out. I don’t foresee much chance to work on it until Breaking Dawn is completely finished.

3) Forever Dawn (the early, poorly written sequel to Twilight) is not the "steamy" version of Breaking Dawn; I don’t know how that rumor got started. Forever Dawn is not adult as in "XXX." It is adult as in "not written exclusively for a young adult audience, much like Pride and Prejudice or Gone With the Wind." There is no steam in Forever Dawn that is not also in Breaking Dawn, so please stop begging me for the "ooh la la" version. It does not exist. I may put some small excerpts of Forever Dawn on my website after Breaking Dawn comes out, but then again, maybe not. It’s not that great. All the best stuff is in Breaking Dawn.

New topic: the Twilight movie

I do not have any casting updates. I haven’t heard anything since the Robert Pattinson announcement. I’m waiting on the same pins and needles you all are. When I get home from vacation, I’ll see if I can get some news.

That is all. Have a nice night everybody!

EDITED TO PUT IN SOME LAST MINUTE ADDITIONS:

4) In regards to the question, "Is Breaking Dawn the last book in the Twilight Saga?" The answer is, "I don’t know." It’s the last one for a while, at least. Of course there will be Midnight Sun, but that’s covering old material. I’m not sure if I will go forward with the Twilight characters–I’m a little burned out right now. Ask me again in two years.

5) "When are you going to put the first chapter of Breaking Dawn on your website?" I have no idea when or if I will get permission to post that. It may be in the special edition of Eclipse that will come out in June or July. It may never appear until BD is on the shelves.

Oh, I thought of another one!

6) "What does the cover of BD look like?" I don’t know (are you sensing a theme here?). We have not decided on a cover yet–in fact, we are in a very early stage of the process. If we get a cover developed in time, it will probably be released with the Eclipse special edition the way the Eclipse cover was put out with the New Moon special edition. I’ve had a few people ask if images they’ve seen are the BD cover, and I can tell you absolutely that they are NOT.

It’s been no secret that one of the shooting locations for the Twilight movie would be the state of Oregon. The Oregon Film and Video Office has put out an "all crafts call". In other words they are looking for location personnel to staff out the shoot. This means they are looking for camera people, and possibly extras among other things.

"Twilight Productions, LLC
Call for Resumes for the Feature Film
"Twilight"
All Crafts
Prep begins 1/2/08
Shooting tentatively scheduled for 2/25 for approx. 8 weeks
Please email resumes to:

Gosh I hope everything goes smooth though-out the editing process for Breaking Dawn!! The wait is killing me!:goodvibes

OK, I officially am smitten with Edward! Waiting on the UPS truck today to deliver New Moon! I know what I'm doing this weekend.

I know EXACTLY how you feel!!

After I read all three books it took me a full month to actually "get over it"!! :rotfl:

It's hard to explain, but as one of the other posters said it changed her life, that's what happened to me. I've just never had a book have an effect on me like that, and I don't really know why!!:confused3

I enjoyed the time I spent reading it SO much that it helped put me back in touch with myself..if that makes any sense. I didn't even realize I was missing my ME time! Well now it's ME and EDWARD time!!;) :rotfl:

I didn't even realize I was missing my ME time!
I have to agree here. I love reading and forgot how much til I started reading this series.

Which begs the question......what are we reading next?

I noticed that the Twilight Moms site has a book club with books recommended by Stephanie Meyers.

January is Wuthering Heights (of course).

February is Enthusiasm by Paula Schulman. (also young adult fiction)

Has anybody read it? Or read anything that lately that you absolutely loved?

I read The Time Traveler's Wife in early December and loved it. Also a fantasy/love story but very much adult fiction....not for the kids.

I have been obsessed with reading since finishing this series! I feel plain lost without something to read on everyday.

Problem is..I haven't found anything quite as immesersive as the Twilight series. Everything else just seems so shallow in comparison because I don't feel like I actually get to "know" the characters...if that makes any sense!

The way that Stephenie writes even the most mundane activities, such as Bella washing dishes, I can just see it in my head like I'm standing there watching!

I got DD the whole Uglies series for Christmas..Uglies, Pretties, Specials, and Extras.
I just finished all of those last week, and they were pretty good. No Twilight, but I did enjoy them.

Now DD and I are taking turns with the Vampire Beach series, and I started The Historian a few days ago. Having a hard time getting into that one.

Brier Rose....How old is your daughter? I have one 14 and one 18.

I have also been wondering about the Libba Bray series with A Great and Terrible Beauty which is well-reviewed on Amazon and comes up as one of those *you might also like* selections under the Twilight books.

Has anybody read those books?

Well, I think there are a lot like me on here who are...ahem...NOT "young adults" but who still like crossing over into YA fiction. It's really having a boom right now, and is one of my favorite genres to read. I just finished a class for my grad degree completely focusing on YA.
So here are some suggestions of books that impressed me this year!

Wicked Lovey by Melissa Marr (faeries! intrigue! danger! in a contemporary setting)

Keturah and Lord Death by Martine Leavitt (one of the most beautifully-written books you'll ever find, very much like a fairy tale, keep tissues handy)

Before I Die by Jenny Downham (a young girl's list of things she wants to do before she dies from leukemia, again have tissues handy. This book will stay with you for days after you finish it)

Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen (a girl dealing with life and love after the sudden death of her father. Has tragedy, humor, and a happy ending--a couple of LOL moments stand out. Loved it)

The Ruins by Scott Smith, NOT a YA, an adult horror book but I have to put it in because WOW--I could not put it down until it was done.

Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer--a meteor hits the moon knocking it very close to Earth, which has catastrophic effects. One family's struggle to survive.

Sunshine by Robin McKinley--vampires!

There are a few to get you started. I'd have to say the one book I recommend to everybody, my favorite book of all time, is I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith (author of 101 Dalmatians) about a young girl growing up in poverty in pre-WWII England with an eccentric family, including her famous writer dad. It is the only book I've ever finished, then opened right back up and read again a minute later! I haven't done it justice here, but it's as close to perfect as any book I've ever read.

Everyone, please share your suggestions!!

I have read 2 and have the 3rd. I like them very much, they are much better-written, as far as language, than the Meyer books. BUT they are not as much fun. I would not classify them as re-readers, as I do the Meyer books. Definitely worth a look though.
Hope that helps.

Thanks, Allie! Good to know! I enjoy beautiful language but there's nothing as much fun as a book you can't put down.

I'm on Amazon and the DIS right now and I also see...

Companions of the Night

Blood and Chocolate

A Certain Slant of Light

which also sound interesting. Do you know those?

Has anyone visited the Twilight Moms site?? They have the best avatars and siggie graphics over there! Two of my favorites.....

I like my men cold, dead, and sparking

and

Superman wears Alice Cullen pajamas

:lmao:
