CP: Did you see my Borders question? What exactly is this pre release party or whatever? It sounds interesting, but the nearest one is an hour and a half from me so I'm trying to decide if it is worthy my drive. If I didn't have my teacher licensing exam on Saturday it wouldn't be that big of a deal. But since I do...

The movie is going to be a great way to celebrate finishing my licensing exam!

Okay, girls I just have to say this (sorry if I offend anyone).

Why does Rob Pattison always look like he just rolled out of bed? He looks ewwww, and dirty and skeezy and ewwwww to me. I am soooooo not impressed (and I love Johnny Depp-go figure)

His eyes make him look high in most of his pictures. I don't know if he's going for the sexy smoldering look but it's lost on me. But I LOVE the books and can't wait for the movie.

because I think he really does....and he drinks CONSTANTLY..as most girls now, my dd cant get enough of him and she says he is on that Perez Hilton website almost every day and always drunk as a skunk...and he does look scruffy...well what he does in his private life is his problem as long as he doesnt screw anything up for the rest of the movies

I think if you like Anne Rice's you'll most likely like these too. In my opinion they are more toned down but I have loved Anne Rice's and I loved these. :)

woah!! I dont think they are ANYTHING alike...I love Anne Rice and have read every single vampire book she has out plus her sleeping beauty and witches of mayfair series and I really cant think of anything to compare between the 2...the one I find comparison in is True Blood and what is really funny here is that the books are from the Southern Vampire Series and the first book, Dead Until Dark, was published in 2001 and there are currently 8 books in the series with the 9th coming out in May of next year...the similarities are coincidental??? vampire falls in love with human girl, a main character is a shapeshifter??? hmmm little strange:scratchin

Hello... My name is Melissa and I'm addicited to Twilight. Hello Melissa!

;)

Hi,
I'm new to the community boards (Spend my time hanging out in the Disneyland forums)...

If you reread what I said I never said they were anything alike...I said they would most likely like the Twilight series if they liked Anne Rice's books because I happened to like both...:confused3

I recently read Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. It was recommended by Stephanie Meyer and I read about it somewhere else. I really enjoyed it. Very gripping and hard to put down. It went by VERY fast.

LOL

Plus, I just finished The Host last night. Now I miss all of those characters, too!!!

What did everyone else think of "The Host"? Worthwhile to read after TS?

PS: Heard the soundtrack last night, and thought several very good tunes!

OK, if your 16DD has read and loved these books....and this 16DD is not usually a reader......can anybody recommend any other books for her to try?

I don't think it looks worth it...ours just lists stuff like discussions and trivia and not much else...I don't think it's worth my 5 minute drive, so I DEFINITELY would not be driving and hour and half for it.

One series that I've seen recommended is the Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray. They are about a girl in Victorian England who finds out that she has some special powers. It's kind of a cross between a fantasy story and "The Little Princess". I read the first book-"A Great and Terrible Beauty". It was good but not as good as Twilight of course. My 16 year old DsD is reading it now.

Loved, loved, loved The Host! There's no Edward in it :sad2: but it does pose some thought provoking questions. I had heard that Stephenie has outlines for some sequels to this.

Hi,
I'm new to the community boards (Spend my time hanging out in the Disneyland forums)...BUT

Found a couple of tidbits today...

A teaser.... raw video of a behind the scenes shooting. Nothing really paramount happens but it's interesting to see (if you like boring behind the scenes shooting!)

and here's another interesting tidbit... the movie's star, (Edward) stating that he has signed up for a TRILOGY of movies. I did not know that!

Welcome! I've been on the DL boards as well reading trip reports as we leave for CA next week. It's our first trip to CA ever and we'll be there when Twilight opens. I'll be waiting until Thanksgiving weekend to see the movie.. and see it...and see it again :rotfl2:

Love the soundtrack! I've already made many of the songs into ringtones. :thumbsup2

I'm LOVING the soundtrack right now! I can't bring myself to listen to anything else on my iPod at the moment.:cool1:

I, also, have some Twilight songs as ringtones!:thumbsup2

It's funny that the Borders link for the "Twilight" stuff is under the tab heading of KIDS. I realize it's YA but really..kids?

The link to the Border's Party is in the post above your question. I would go as I like corny stuff like that BUT I think it's going to be overrun with teens (no offense, I swear). I might happen to be in the "neighborhood" of Borders and see how it looks though. ROFL MAYBE. ;)

P.S. Not all Border's are having the party. However, at least two Borders in the Portland area are holding the party. You can look up your local Borders to check.

I am SO toying with the idea of seeing the midnight opening show! popcorn::

Have fun at DL! Those TR's are addicting LOL

VERY INTERESTING.... I will definitely check that out. I love the passion and human drama of her books.. hopefully her taste in other books is the same.

I had a really hard time pushing through the first 150 or so pages of The Host. It's not that exciting to say the least. But a dis-er that I know egged me on and said how great it was so I pressed on. I read about 400 pages in one night cause it got SO VERY GOOD!

heya GF...glad you finally made it over here;) :yay:

Hi Lynn! The close proximity to the movie release has me buzzin in the brain. :dance3:
Plus, I finished the Host and now I'm stumped. No more Stephanie characters to care about. I'm going to try that Hunger book. I just began "The Memory Keepers Daughter" i have heard good things about it. Did you read Secret LIfe of BEe's? IT's great and the movie was very emotionally satisfying.

OMG!! SOO lucky!!! How did you get it???
I wrote Rob a letter and very kindly asked for an autographed picture. I got it like 2 months afterwards.:goodvibes

Sorry! Anyway, from what I've heard they'll be having a movie discussion, showing exclusive clips and doing some games. Oh, also they will be playing the soundtrack.

Yes! I recommend the Gemma Doyle series also. I read it long before Twilight and it's really wonderful, though it deals with some mature themes of sex, lesbianism and sexual abuse, so I would recommend it for someone 16 and older.

I read that one about a month ago and a few days after buying it found out Stephenie had recommended it. It was great but also has some mature themes.

If she enjoyed it for the vampire side of the story, Blue Bloods and Masquerade, by Melissa De La Cruz were very good. Blue Bloods: Revelations just came out in October. I'm looking forward to reading that, but my library hasn't received it yet.
