Has anyone here ever cruised twice in the same year?

My family has. Once in august of '04 and the other the 10-day of '04. it was great in august knowing we were coming back soon. :)

One more question for y'all....... How do you get your kids out of school that many times in a year? In our school district they passed a law that kids can only miss 5 days due to vacation in a given school year. (bummer, this really interferes with off season specials) It used to be ten days, but they cracked down. I can't travel in the summer because of my business.

I do not know what others do, but the year we were fortunate enough to cruise twice, it was two different calendar years. One was in February, and the other September... We (to the best of my knowledge) do not have any laws regarding days being missed. I feel absolutely no guilt, and it was this past September by children missed, and they have not missed a day since...
How is that for vitamins.... :rotfl:

I could travel in summer, but refuse to pay those inflated rates... :goodvibes

Yes, a fifteen-day land/sea (11 land, 4 sea) last May, a 7-day Eastern last November and the 10-day Holiday cruise last December. Ok, three times...

and its not long until you cruise again!

You can do a search and find extensive threads on pulling kids out of school, and see the variation in school district and school principal responses. Some are more restrictive like what you are now subject to, and in our case, each time our DS's teacher has been excited for him and said "oh don't worry" wehn we asked a few weeks in advance if we could get some assignments for him. His 1st grade teacher even made snorkeling suggestions for the different islands we would be going to!

Next week's cruise was originally booked for Feb., and pull him out of school, but then we planned an extended family trip to WDW during Jersey week in November with my sister from NJ and her children. So I rescheduled the cruise to spring break, to not miss two different weeks of school in one school year.

Then the WDW trip got cancelled the night before because of a sick nephew and the fact that we could not check into Shades of Green w/o my sister, who is DoD. So I figured he was entitled to miss a few school days and I was entitled to spend some money, so we took our WDW budget and did a 4 day Wonder MLK week in January, he missed three days.

3rd grade now, the testing is getting more and more important, and his sports involvement is such now that we may well be predominantly on school vacations in the future, and we can no longer laugh and say "what's he gonna miss, a week of kindergarten or 1st grade? ha!". Even for a straight A student, when the curriculum has some meat on the bones, he needs to be there.

We did a 4 night in Aug 2004 (just before all the hurricanes) and are going again on a 7 night May 7th.'Can't wait!

We did a four-night Wonder in July 2004, and just returned yesterday from our second Wonder cruise, with #3 booked for this October. I guess we must be addicted!

We actually cruised 3 times within 16 months! We took our 1st 7 night cruise March 2001 for our twins 3rd birthdays and had such a great time that we booked a 4 night cruise Sept 2001. We flew home from that cruise the Sat before the terrorist attacks. After that, since the cruise industry was hurting so bad, DCL sent us a letter offering special prices for 7 night cruises in 2002. We paid about $2400 for the May 2002 Inagurial Western cruise for our family of 4 cat 9-which was REALLY CHEAP!!! After that DH became "all cruised out" and said no to any more cruises for awhile. We are booked on the Nov 5th 2005 7 night Western cruise, which will be
3 1/2 years from our last cruise. Too long in my opinion!!!

We have been planning to do a family of six ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo princess: princess: princess: princess: 7-night for April 06 for the past 5 years. It just so happens that our 20th Ann is the summer of 06. After booking our April 06 Magic, I looked high and low for a trip for our ANN and ended up coming back to Disney. DH and I will do the 4 night June 11 - 15 Wonder. (11 weeks later I think!) We feel great about it! :love2:

I could see doing more than one in a year for the family if we got good rates.
We had APs to WDW July 03 to June 04. During that 12 months we spent 21 nights in 3 different WDW resorts. IT WAS GREAT!! Wish our busy children would let us do it again.

Oh yeah! We did the 4-Day Wonder in Feb.2004 & then went on the 7 Day Western Magic in July 2004. It really spoils you! We are going on the 4 Day Wonder on April 24th & can't wait. :jumping1:

We did a 4 day Wonder and a 7 day Magic last year. We will be going on a land/sea in May and a 7 day in Sept. We have Sept. of 2006 booked but I don't think I will be able to wait that long. We are definitely addicted!
