Twelve Months of Training and Travel

Love the Sparkle skirt. And in the picture it looks like new to me! I hope you can fix the other skirt. I also have only bought the basic fabric ones and I machine wash them. I'm lazy that way. :rotfl:

Thanks! She is definitely not perfect, but maybe that is why I love her! She is smaller than I would have bought for myself. I risked it to purchase the smaller size because she was such a good deal. Turns out, I think she fits maybe better than my others. Maybe that adds to why I really like this skirt.. :goodvibes

I've heard about doing the Target GC thing, but just have never messed with it. I really don't shop at Target that much because it's not conveniently located for me. But, so glad it worked for you and hopefully you can accumulate quite a number of the cards!! :thumbsup2

I don't shop at Target all that much. I drive near one for work often enough that I can stop if needed. I haven't just purchased the gc with the discount. After all... 5% isn't that much. Still, I know that there are some who purchase enough cards to pay their trips with them. A couple years ago the disney GC went on sale at target. This was before I had the debit card... but I did purchase quite a few of them. I want to say in total I saved $50. ($450 for $500) Maybe it was more... I can't quite remember. I thought that was a great way to pay for a trip.

I did this for my last trip to Disneyland. Love Target!!!
I really think getting the Target gift card for purchasing stuff I would normally need anyway and then turning around and getting disney ones is a great way to save some vacation money!:thumbsup2

I have thought about doing this but the reality is that the Target is not close to me, I almost never shop there and so I would be going out of my way to do it which makes no sense. I do purchase Disney GC's at Safeway and get gas points so depending on how many/much I do, it can add up. I also purchase them with the Disney Visa so there are double rewards that way. Last time I looked at it, it added up similar or a bit better to the Target Debit. But add in free gift cards and you totally win!

I don't shop all that often in Target either. I think I need to more given that the gc w/ purchase deal is pretty slick.

My credit is already on my account. :thumbsup2

Mine too!:thumbsup2

OOH Costumes! I did get a new skirt, I'll be wearing it on Sunday for my long run, I don't know if it will change my mind (wear it for DL and save the yellow for Princess) but we will see. I didn't get it for costume reasons, just to have another one (and avoid leg chafing in the heat). If I change my mind... I'd then need a new top and if I got the yellow shoes it wouldn't match :rotfl2:

I am a complete fan of running skirts... I prefer when they have shorts that don't ride up...cause that is when I get the chaffing. Speaking of chaffing though.. holy cow I am having some sort of issue with my arms. I half wonder if my arms are all of a sudden "floppier" on my underarm. I thought it was band issues at first... but then it started happening on my other arm. Maybe it is heat and the stitching on the tanks I wear. I am just not sure.

I did NOT like the one I ordered, it's going back tomorrow. Speaking of, I FB'd you time stuff, depending on what your day looks like.

I am having the SAME arm issue all of a sudden! I was thinking it was my allergy as it's not actually red, just kind of itchy and irritated...I can feel it but not really "see" it.

Same workout wear as always that usually doesn't itch so I was wondering if was a seam tolerance issue for the "bad" stuff. There are hot spots for that for sure, like the bottom band of the sports bra.

Maybe it is just the heat?

Sorry your skirt has to go back. I really wish that the sparkle skirts were not of the bad material for you. But...spandex is what they are all made from.

As for the arm issue...I do think heat has to be playing a role. I have NEVER had this happen like this.

One - I have been buying things at Target that have gift card offers. Basically, I buy something I normally would or something I will use and earn a Target GC. I have been saving them up to put towards a Disney GC. I had decided I would do so once I had $45 in Target GC's that way I could still get a small discount by using my Target debit card. So I finally had enough and for $4.75 I purchased my first $50 disney gc. :woohoo: I have only been doing this for a short time so I am wondering if I continue this how many I will be able to accumulate.

I've heard of people doing this and it makes sense. I don't shop at Target enough for it to work for me. There is one fairly close, but its literally part of a mall. A very crowded mall with horrible parking and traffic flow, so I rarely stop there. But I did buy my new phone there and traded my old one in and ended up with a Disney gift card for $8 thanks to the trade in!

Two - In registering for the phm, the DVC discount was not working properly. Rather than risk not getting in on registration I went ahead and registered (as did many people) without it. Then (again like many)I sent an email to RunDisney to report the issue. Well, I am excited that I received an email staying they would be refunding me the amount of the discount. :woohoo:

They must have worked out the glitch by the time I registered because I had no problem. $10 is $10. It's almost a margarita at the Ditch - where I will be passing out after the PHM! :rotfl:

I am pretty lucky that there are two nice ones on my route for work. There is one that is not too far from where my dd works and it is like what you have... adjacent to a crowded mall and just not fun to shop at.

Yeah, I think it was fixed pretty quick. I just didn't want to wait and risk not getting in on early registration. I knew general registration would be a nightmare, but it was way worse than I figured it would be. I know that there were some who it took an hour to register.:scared:

Question for anyone who registered. Were you able to pick your princess this year? I did not get an option for this when I registered with the AP registration.

Nope! I think they are changing the bibs this year, no one had the option that I have talked to.

Yep... unlike past years there was no option. I think I am happier with it though. In the hectic moment of registration, I know I am so frazzled I tend to not have a clear picture of who I want to "represent" Even now... I don't know what princess I want to represent in my race outfit.

I was fine with it too this year. I'm not going as a traditional Princess this time, so I wasn't sure which one to pick. I'm glad I don't have to! ;)

Do you already have a plan? I am not sure what I am doing. It will all depend on what skirt I get. More princess... I will opt to wear the one outfit I do have for the half in january (merida rt shirt and mimosa ss). More mouse or tink like and I will wear that outfit for the phm instead. I suppose that other factors are what Cynthia... Mary Ellen... what they are wearing. Not that it matters entirely to me. I am sure we wouldn't exactly match even if we picked the same "theme" But it might matter to one of them. (although, I am guessing it probably doesn't all that much) PLUS I think some pre race pics with us in a similar theme wouldn't be the end of the world. AND if Cynthia and I still go in for a team... then say if she was yellow belle and I was blue belle it might be fun.

I don't know... it is early and I am just thinking out loud.

No idea what I am doing but I definitely wouldn't rule out Belle, either yellow or blue! Some kind of theme, team thing could definitely be fun.

I am actually rethinking my outfit for DL so...that very well may leave yellow Belle back in play.

I have done some rethinking on DL too. I got a white tech tank and painted on in. In the end the pain the paint though is just weird so I scrapped that idea. I do think I have it picked out now though. I tried to save a bit of $$ and bought compression shorts from RR. I should have just bought the sparkle skirt bottoms. Now I am wondering if I am going to miss having the large pockets. I guess I survived January without them. Who knows though... maybe I will splurge at the expo.

See that's exactly it, I wore my green knickers (the ones I wore for the seahawks) with a tech tank that actually has bib holder spots and pockets for my 12 miler and I was sooooooo comfy it really made me rethink it. I love the pockets on the knickers and know if I want fuel or easy access to my phone for a picture or 2, it will be super easy, not so in the skirt. I also worry a little about chafing in the skirt but who knows. Hard to say as the 12 miler was on a bit cooler day (though quite humid) and maybe that was more why it was comfy than the outfit itself.

I am up for doing color/theme coordinated outfits even though I won't be anywhere near you guys. But someone has to bring up the rear. I would actually prefer for someone to tell me what to buy/wear. Then I won't have to stress over it! :thumbsup2

Yeah, I think pockets are really nice. I have a spibelt...but it just isn't as great. I have a couple skirts I really like that do have pockets...but the shorts on them are not long enough...so then there is the chafing issue. So I hear ya on the tights....they may be a good option.:thumbsup2.

Well I would think we will see each other before getting on the bus and in the staging area. And who knows... your pace is good so if you get a 10k in and can submit it to RD/trackshack... maybe you will be in the same corral as us too! Bottom line is there will be plenty of time for pictures. :goodvibes

Fear not! I will be bringing up the rear with ya!

With your pace, you will not be in the rear. Another reason you will want a 10K so you've got a proof of time. What did you put as an estimate when you registered? I think you have a very good chance of being in our same corral. The PHM corral distribution is a lot different than the Disneyland one. Doesn't mean it will be the same this year as last but it's a good starting point.

Costumes are fun, I think the challenge is to find something that you will be comfortable in for 13.1 miles...and still manage some kind of costume aspect for it. A fun challenge!

I've never tried a spibelt but just looking at it gives me hives, the idea of something around my waist like that, UGH!

I think I put down like 2:40 because I figured that would allow time for stops and pictures. I really didn't know what to put down because I haven't timed myself running in slow long and I figured it was better to put slower. I have a 10K planned for the beginning of October.

And you are good at those kind of challenges! I wish there was a way to custom order some type of cute running shirt/bra that has a theme. I've seen the really cute skirts on Etsy, but I would rather wear running shirts and a comfortable running shirt with a cool theme or decoration on it. I so wish I was creative because I could see getting a white running jog bra/tank and decorating it.

Anyway - I am up for some type of theme of you guys are - even if its something we do post race.

I'm psyched that we will all be staying at the BWV. I just wish I was getting into town a little earlier, but I plan to arrive Friday night and check in first thing Saturday then go pick up the race packet. We will have a car so we could all go over together in the morning, unless you guys go the day before.

Well, I hope that before you bring up the rear ;) we see each other in the staging area. :goodvibes

Oh... there is no need to speculate. I will be in C All but one race I have been in C. :rotfl:

Seriously though, I agree with Cynthia. With a POT, I am sure you will not be in the last corral. :goodvibes

:rotfl2: Yeah, it isn't very fun. AND if you have seen the "jogstrap" video that was on facebook recently... it is kinda like that. (only obviously not so obscene) The pouch stretches and seems to hang once it gets full enough. Just not for me either. However, I have made it work... and will again if I have to.

I think you should have time for stops...and so that is probably a pretty reasonable time to submit. Still... that POT will be important. I know that I had a completely different experience at last years ToT. I had little to no people in line for characters (if I would have stopped) Those in the back corral saw horrid lines (I want to say someone said one line took 20 minutes ) Your 10k in October will be perfect! Cut off for submission is 12/1

There are serious running costumes that people put together. Just look at these. You can do it for much cheaper though... and I am personally more into a "themed" outfit rather than true costume.

Something tells me we may go earlier to pick up our bibs...but I am not opposed to going with you back to the expo. I tend to get overwhelmed by the expo and hit my "saturation" point so a second trip can be a good thing. :goodvibes Plus... if you are driving.... ;)
