I've gotten to the point that I know West Wing by heart, but they've made a couple pretty basic screw ups with geography:
1 - The gunmen that tried to assassinate the president at the end of season one (ok, they were shooting for Charley, whatever

) were members of "West Virginia White Pride"....and the show later said that their headquarters were in Blacksburg....Which, not coincidentally, is the home of Virginia Tech University...Kinda odd for West Virginia White Pride not to be located in West Virginia, isn't it ?
2 - Toby is talking to Sam from the phone on Air Force 1 and Sam says "I'm going to guess where you are right now"...He then gives a long explanation for why he believes them to be over "Cumberland West Virginia"....which would be some feat, considering Cumberland is in Maryland.
3 - On the episode where they thwart a terrorist attack on the Golden Gate, one of the early targets was feared to be Ft. Myer Army Base in Maryland (which they showed to be just east of the White House on a large national map). Well, Ft Myer is in VIRGINIA...Arlington, to be exact, and is just WEST of the White House, but by so small a margin that it wouldn't even show on a national map...
It killed me that such a well written show should include errors that would have taken, oh, a bout a minute and a half's research to avoid
