We will be staying at the Poly does anyone remember how much they cost and does it come with the chocolate MIckey?

We had them at the GF and I believe they were 5 for $25. The chocolate Mickey was an extra $50.

As stated the chocolate Mickey is extra and if you want the strawberries you have order them 24 hours in advance.

I would like to know also since we will be at AKL in Feb for my birthday.
Thanks,
Pam

I have ordered them in the past through the concierge IPO. This time, when I asked the BWI IPO, I was told they were 4 on a plate with a white chocolate Mickey for $35. That sounded like too good a deal, but I took it. :sunny: I will probably kick myself when I get the bill - especially if that Mickey was an extra $50 as I have one in my kitchen cabinent left over from a courtesy gift we received.

We have ordered a dozen tuxedo strawberries - no Mickey - before and it came to $85.

You can get them at any deluxe resort. Sorry, I do not know any other route then thru concierge, though. Maybe call the resort's private dining??? Or just the resort and they will direct you.

Here's a bump up, anyway.

Most all deluxe resorts have them available through in room private dining. I have gotten them from the Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Yacht and Beach so I would think they would be available at the Contemporary also.

Oh, I knew better than to come into a thread that was about food (a.k.a., chocolate). I think I gained a pound as soon as I clicked on the link. ;)

Just thought I'd post some photos of the tuxedo strawberries from the Grand Floridian. The first photo shows five strawberries; however, the second photo only shows four (someone snatched one before I could snap a close-up photo):

Tuxedo Strawberries # 1
Tuxedo Strawberries # 2

They really are quite a yummy treat.

Here is the item from Room Service at the poly

Strawberry Turndown - six delicious chocolate covered or tuxedo (dark and white chocolate) covered strawberries with a chocolate centerpiece filled with candies. Must be ordered by 11:00am for same day delivery $25.00

This is what is posted on the menu dated May 2005

http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/men_polr.htm

I was looking at having a cake delivered and found all these options.

So what is the "centerpiece filled with candy?" Anyone have a picture of that? I wanted something that screamed Mickey! LIke the white cholocolate Mickey I saw in someone's picture. Does the Poly not offer that? If anyone knows? would you do this over the birthday package?

We didn't ask for anything special in the center, but in October the "centerpiece filled with candy" was a beautiful seashell shape filled with M&Ms. It was so pretty (it was white and milk choc. swirled) that I didn't know it was made of chocolate until my dd ate a piece. I have a picture on my laptop, let me see if I uploaded it already, if not, I won't be able to post it today. (laptop is not with me ATM)

If you don't mind me being a little nosy, what is all that other stuff on the table? Did they send you other stuff, was it your honeymoon? Lastly, was it concierge?

Wow...they look fantastic...but $4.00 per strawberry!!!! I don't think I could bring myself to eat them...I'd just want to sit and look at them all day. :rotfl:

I don't mind answering your question at all. The room in the photo was in the main building of the Grand Floridian. That is my family's favorite resort and we have been vacationing there for years.

During that particular vacation, my husband and I celebrated 20 years of marriage with a Fairy Tale Weddings custom vow renewal (click here for trip report). The items on the table were just a few of the surprises that were sent to our room (a chocolate postcard of the resort is seen in the back on the left, and a Fairy Tale Weddings plate with Mickey & Minnie is seen in the back on the right). During every night of our stay, there was something different waiting for us. Most of the items were arranged by some very special Cast Members who shall remain nameless in order to protect their identities. ;)

It was really a lot of fun discovering what the day's treat would be. I think the item that really took our breath away, though, was the chocolate champagne bottle and chocolate champagne flutes: click here. That item was placed on our bed just as you see it in the photo. When we returned to our room at 3:00 AM on the night of our vow renewal, we were very surprised to find it waiting for us. What a fun treat it was.
