Hey there stranger ;) I hope you had a wonderful Holiday season. Now that it's over, you can start working on your trip report again!! lol Yay for Disney in 25 days. I'm going in 5, and possibly writing my first trip report after. -Amanda

Yay! So glad to have a newcomer - although, I totally don't deserve it because I've been slacking on the TR soooo bad! My other TRs are in my sig, if you're interseted!

Nikki, I just mentioned you in my TR!

Just found it and subscribed. Going to read tonight! :thumbsup2

I can't believe I haven't updated this TR in two months! Bad bad Diser! But.....we are headed back to WDW in 13 days so I am determined to finish! A lot has been going on since I last updated, the most exciting and terrifying being that we bought a house!! Not an easy thing to do, especially in NJ. We are very excited. It's been exactly a week since we first saw it but things are moving fairly quickly and we hope to be in by the end of Feb.

So that leaves the huge possibility that our Disney trips are going to seriously suffer. When thinking about this upcoming trip, I purchased 10-day hoppers with the intention of upgrading them to APs, thinking we'd definitely go again in August. Now that we'll have a mortgage, it's just not smart so I'm trying to decide the best thing to do with my 10-day hoppers. Here are the options I've come up with so far. What do you think is the best thing to do?

1. Still go through with the plan, upgrade to hoppers and cross our fingers that we'll go at least once within the year (if not August). That would cost us an additional $418.86 to upgrade.

2. Keep and use the 10-day hoppers and just let the 5 extra days go to waste. (If we had just bought 5-day hoppers, it would be exactly $100 less so we would just lose $100 basically.)

3. Get brand new 5-day hoppers and keep the 10-day hoppers for the future when we are more secure and able to get APs at some point in the future. We should be shelling out an additional $650 right now BUT we would then have passes that will never expire and will be worth WAY more than we paid for them at some point in the future.

Okay, blah blah blah! Back to the August trip!

We have gone through 5 full days so far and it's been fun but super rainy.

Day 6 -

Animal Kingdom was on the agenda for this morning. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day!

DSC_0407.jpg

We stopped at a little counter place near Tusker House for breakfast. I think we just got a coffee and muffin or something. Shockingly, no picture!

DSC_0410.jpg

After a quick bite, we went over to Everest to get FPs and then walked over to Dinosaur, which was practically a walk on.

After Dinosaur, we headed back over to Everest with our FPs, stopping for a few pics on the way.

Everest was an AWESOME ride, as always...

After our ride, we got another FP for Everest to use later. This is one of my favorite pics of the trip!

Day 6 cont.

Next we went to walk through the Jungle Trek - I love it!

DSC_0423.jpg

DSC_0429.jpg

As we were walking, we couldn't help thinking of the tv show LOST as we passed by these trees. If you've seen it, you'll know why. We both LOVE that show and we spent the next good hour talking about all the things they could do if they did a LOST land in the parks.

DSC_0435.jpg

Back to Dinosaur after the Trek.

DSC_0440.jpg

And then another ride on EE!

IMG_1933.jpg

We found another random food place where Tom found this amazing sandwich! It was very delicious but we had dinner plans so we couldn't eat too much!

DSC_0443.jpg

We headed back to CBR and showered at relaxed. Around 4, we took the bus to MK but that was not our stop. From there, we walked up to the monorail station and headed to the Poly!!

Dinner tonight was at 'Ohana!! We had a 5:20 ADR but we were in line and one of the first people to check in at around 4:45. Good thing because the check-in line soon stretched allllllll the way across the upstairs....

DSC_0454.jpg

Soon, all the "cousins" came out and started calling parties and we were one of the first. Yay!

DSC_0457.jpg

I said I didn't want to drink anything that night because of how much I had drank the night before but I couldn't resist the sangria on the menu.

DSC_0460.jpg

The food was delicious, as always!

We didn't really take too many pics of the food because we have a thousand pics of it already!

After dinner, we walked to the TTC and headed to Epcot.

IMG_1941.jpg

I hadn't ridden Spaceship Earth yet so Bri and I went for a spin...

IMG_1944.jpg

Then we made it as far as Mexico when ....... you guessed it - it started raining.

IMG_1947.jpg

We rode Gran Fiesta Tour and then headed into La Cava. We weren't really hungry but I can't resist a good dip trio. So we got a couple of beers and snacked for a little while.

DSC_0467.jpg

When we came out, it was still raining. Not hard BUT enough to make me depressed and just want to go back to the room. So that's what we did.

Congratulations on your new house! :cool1: Its a very exciting but scary thing. We were suppose to sign on a bigger house ourselves last wed but the paperwork was messed up. We didnt find out until 2 hours before we were going to sign. Now we are hoping for this comming friday but I wont hold my breath. I say do the upgrade to the AP and do alot of scrinching and saving to make another trip possible!

New house!!! Congratulations!

How was the sangria at ohana? I'm a huge sangria fan, but never strayed from the lapu lapu at ohana!

Congratulations on your house!! It is quite a bit of work (and of course, mortgages suck :rotfl:) But it is really rewarding!

It looks like you guys had a wonderful day. I love how your DH gets so into the picture taking and poses for you - it looks like he is really having fun.

Congratulations on buying a house Nikki! :goodvibes

Great update too, looks like you got loads done in AK that day.

Hey Nikki! I haven't been DISing much recently & somehow subscribed but never read your report. I spent the evening catching up on the entire thing...page 1 through page 15! :thumbsup2

I'm sure I had a TON of replies, but I took breaks to feed the kids, change diapers, help get pjs on, watch Tia & Tamera, etc....sooooo of course now I don't remember half of what I wanted to tell you! I really loved all of your pictures!!! And I also need to get some good drink recommendations from you next trip! I totally forgot to ask before I left in December! LOL!

The only two things that I remember that I wanted to tell you are: I'm pretty sure the picture on Living with the Land is rhubarb. It looks like rhubarb when its first starting to grow (the leaves get much much larger than that though). The bakery beside Tusker House at AK is called Kusafari -- I know because I ALWAYS get a cupcake there!!! This past trip I had the most amazing brownie covered in icing and a chocolate footprint! It was so HUGE that they actually called it a "brownie cupcake" on the menu!!! :lmao: I highly recommend their iced coffee and pretty much ANY cupcake!

Congrats again on your home purchase!!!! It's a stressful process & seems like it will never end, but it is SOOOOO worth it in the end!!! Congrats to you & Tom!!!!

Also can't wait to see your POFQ pictures once you get back. We never did make it over there in December.

Congratulations on your new home!!! My husband and I are hoping to buy a house in the next few months and it's looking like no Disney trips this year. We have a bunch of family weddings to travel to this year (one on Long Island this summer), but if we didn't I'd probably try to get APs and squeeze in some Disney magic. So if you can, do it and I'll live vicariously through you and your reports! Speaking of which I can't wait for your next TR! Still enjoying this one, too!

Congrats on the house! That's an awesome (but scary) new life adventure!

I can understand being depressed because of the rain. It weighs on you after a while.

Ugh, Stupid rain. The mexican snack looks darn tastey

I love a good chip and dip!

New house!!! Congratulations!

I LOVE sangria pretty much anywhere. I don't remember this one being exceptional but it could've been because I just wasn't feeling it from all the drinking the day before.

Yeah he's the best! We have so much fun!

We really did have a great time in AK. I love that park!

Hey Hope! I'd be happy to help you with some drink suggestions for your next trip!! Thanks for the Tusker House confirmation. I love finding hidden gems that I never knew existed.

It always seems like something, right? Too bad life can't just be all disney trips!

Congrats on the house! That's an awesome (but scary) new life adventure!

I can understand being depressed because of the rain. It weighs on you after a while.

It really does wear you down. The first couple of times you can handle it but after a while you just want to cry!

Congrats on the house! :)

Thank you everyone for the well wishes on the house. Unfortunately, the home inspection went pretty badly and the bottom line is, if the sellers don't pay for an entire new roof to be put on the house, as well as fix the resulting damage from having a nonfunctional roof, we are going to have to back out of the contract. Totally sucks but we are already at our spending limit and we literally will not have any money left to fix it ourselves. Our lawyer is sending over our terms tomorrow so hopefully we'll know soon what's going to happen.

BUT on a happier note, we are leaving for WDW in 6 days!! I'm a little nervous that it might snow. Forecast is looking like snow Friday so I'm hoping it doesn't turn into anything that will prevent us from flying out Saturday morning.

So let's continue with the TR, shall we??

Day 7

This morning we headed to the MK at around 9am.

I'm sure I post this picture in every TR but that's because I can't help but take a picture of it every time we go to MK.

IMG_1950.jpg

Once inside, first stop was at the hat store (I know it has a fancy name but I don't know it, nor do I feel like googling it right now) for ears for my sister's new baby who wasn't even born yet at the time. I took some pics while I was waiting for them to be personalized.

I took this one through the window.

DSC_0469.jpg

I love this picture.

DSC_0470.jpg

We had Crystal Palace reservations at 10am so we took some pics on our way down Main Street.

DSC_0472.jpg

DSC_0473.jpg

We checked into CP and ran into a fellow DISer!!

DSC_0474.jpg

I love when that happens!

We were seated by the window all the way to the right when you walk in.

DSC_0475.jpg

Here was my plate of deliciousness!

DSC_0477.jpg

DSC_0483.jpg

I love standing next to Piglet because he makes me look super skinny!

DSC_0501.jpg

So looking out the window, we could see the bridge to Adventureland. You can't really see her too well in this picture but there was a CM who was just having the best time! She was dancing and dancing and every guest who walked over the bridge was asked to dance with her. It was so great to watch! It went on for a good 15 minutes and it makes me wonder if she's being paid to do that or if she's really supposed to be sweeping the garbage...because that was the costume she was wearing. Garbage sweep costume. I guess all CMs are encouraged to interact with the guests.

DSC_0482.jpg

And then it was back out into the brilliant MK sunshine! Yay for sun!

DSC_0509.jpg

I have pretty much a hundred pics that looks just like this. The New Fantasyland construction from pretty much every angle...

DSC_0510.jpg

We went and got FPs for Peter Pan and then Bri and I separated from Tom so we could do a few things on our own.

We went to ride Splash and then headed to Tomorrowland to ride Buzz.

IMG_1957.jpg

IMG_1962.jpg

We met up with Tom again in time for our Peter Pan ride.

DSC_0526.jpg

Next on the agenda was to hit up Downtown Disney again. So we decided the best course of action was to monorail to Contemporary and bus to DTD. When we got to the Contemporary, we decided to go out to the observation deck to see the view of the MK.

Well look what's rolling in.....

IMG_1976.jpg

Pretty crazy right?? These pics are not doctored at all and in fact, that last one was taken with my cell phone!

By the time we got to the bus stop, the wind started picking up like crazy!!

IMG_1978.jpg

And the temperature dropped like 20 degrees in a matter of minutes!

DSC_0574.jpg

I don't remember what we did in DTD because I have NO pics. But I have in my notes that we went back to CBR to shower and ship our packages home.

That night, we headed to DHS and I'm not going to give anything away but here is the first we picture we took when we got there.....

DSC_0577.jpg

Sigh.

Well I already said that rain sucks, but those storm made for some pretty darn awesome photos!!! Wow!
