TUT TUT...It Looks Like RAIN! A Nikki and Tom August Adventure! BABY PIC pg. 23!!! :)

Great update Nikki! :goodvibes

Sorry to hear that it was all downhill from there though....:sad1: :worried:

I know what you mean though. On the cruise I had 4 drinks in about 1 and 15 minutes. I should've been loaded and making a fool of myself...maybe I did :rotfl:, but I didn't feel too bad at all. With in an hour I was totally sober again.

There's something about being on vacation that makes the alcohol more tolerable, I think.

You were right!!!!! Classic Epcot pics indeed!!!! Uh oh... I don't like the sounds of "downhill"...

Haha! I LOVE my Epcot days and am always so happy when I get pictures that really capture the feeling!

I think you and I in WDW together would be a whole lotta fun....and a whole lotta trouble. :lmao:

Oh yes we would.....

Great update Nikki! :goodvibes

Sorry to hear that it was all downhill from there though....:sad1: :worried:

It's not terrible...well, by the end of the day, it was pretty bad.....update coming soon....

Nikki-hope you and your family are safe during this storm.

Thank you.

Storm Update -

Fortunately, we made out complete unscathed in this storm. It was very very scary hearing the wind and feeling the house shake but miraculously, we never lost power. I can't say the same for almost everyone I know on the other side of town and in the towns around me. Most people are still without power and my school has been closed all week. Depending on power, we might not go back next week at all either. Not good.

There are trees down everywhere. I left the house for the first time yesterday to visit a friend in the hospital who went into labor during the storm (crazy, right!) and what should have taken me 15 minutes, took me an hour because of street lights out and trees down literally everywhere you look. I mean, there's only so many times you can say "Oh my god, look at that!" It's just one right after another.

The towns in my area didn't get any flooding like we did during Irene so that's good news for all the people who just finished redoing their houses. I obviously can't say the same for all the shore towns, many of which are still under water.

We have family in Staten Island and that got hit VERY hard. My sister was in evacuation zone so she's been at my mom's. Her apartment was fine. Tom's mom's house has no power but amazingly didn't flood. But there were houses right in her neighborhood collapsed with people dead or still missing. Tom's cousin's house on Staten Island was completely underwater but amazingly is still standing. Everything is just a mess - it's so unbelievable.

I am so glad to hear that you and all of your family are ok! Reading the stories are both scary and heartbreaking!

I did want to mention drinking in Disney - I swear the alcohol is stronger (at least for me)! It seems if I have a drink before dinner, I am loaded before I get to the entree. I guess I am just a lightweight - but my kids almost hate it if I order a drink anymore - lol!

That's really funny! I almost hate to say this but it won't be long before Ashley with be able to have a drink with you at dinner! ;)

Day 5 cont.

So we've been having a totally unplanned, impromptu epic Epcot day and I was loving it! We just finished dinner at Tokyo Dining, which was so great! At this point, I'd guess it was around 7pm.

Now the original plan was to just to go Epcot for dinner and then boat it to DHS for EMH so although we were having a blasty in Epcot, I still wanted to hit up DHS at night.

So after we left Tokyo Dining, we headed around clockwise.

I did actually talk to a few people who called these phone booths. I don't remember if this was the moment that I talked to them but the two separate people who I talked to were both surprised they were actually talking to someone in WDW. I was like, YOU called HERE, why are you surprised?!

Continuing on....

Uh-oh - looks like Tom got another beer!

DSC_0372.jpg

We then made our way to Soarin' to use our FPs. On the way, I spotted a squirrel and just HAD to take some pics of him.

We took a seat just outside the Land Pavilion, either because it wasn't our FP time yet or because we needed to gather some energy before attempting to make it up that hill....

We were starting to crash at this point....

IMG_1900.jpg

And I think some people were getting sick of pictures....

DSC_0384.jpg

Tom finally finished his beer (maybe that's why we were waiting) and we got up to make our way inside.

DSC_0386.jpg

I don't remember much of this at all. Not sure if the line was quick or even how the ride was. I was pretty out of it!

IMG_1901.jpg

But I do remember posting this pic on FB and checking in to Soarin' :)

IMG_1902.jpg

After Soarin, we made our way back through the UK to catch the boat to DHS. WORST MISTAKE EVER!! Should have just stayed at Epcot...

On the way, I went to use the bathroom in the UK and ran into a bride!! I was so shocked and happy to see someone who got married in Disney. She let me take her picture.

IMG_1904.jpg

We were on the boat at around 9pm. That boat ride was really when we started to crash. When we got there, we got a beer but it was like a Bud Light or something. We weren't feeling it at all. Not sure what's going on with this picture...

DSC_0388.jpg

Brianne got some ice cream.....

DSC_0389.jpg

And we had some fun pulling the rope....

DSC_0390.jpg

We rode Star Tours at some point - probably before we got the beer and ice cream. But then just hung around for a while....

We didn't really know what to do so we walked over to the Great Movie Ride. There was a bit of a line, which was not fun and then being on the ride is when I reeeeeally started to crash. Going on that ride was the worst idea ever. I was exhausted, had a headache and was most likely dehydrated. I just wanted to go to sleep!

So when it was over, we decided to just leave after hitting up the bathroom. Well we come out of the bathroom to find a total DOWNPOUR!!! Like seriously pouring rain so so hard. We got our ponchos on and decided to just make a run for it. It was the most miserable walk back to the buses I've ever had in WDW. I was whimpering the whole time. I hate being wet and it was freeeezing out too - well it seemed like it, being so wet. I seriously wanted to cry.

We actually turned the heat on in the room once we got back, that's how uncomfortable we were. (Remember, this was August!) Just to put into perspective how much it rained, this was Tom's shorts when we got back to the room. You can see the inch or two at the top showing the color the shorts actually are. He had a rain jacket on.....

Sooooo, we went to DHS for Star Tours, a horrible ride on the Great Movie Ride and only ot get caught in the rainstorm. Should've just stayed at Epcot or went back to the room!

I'm glad you did not suffer real damage because of the storm. It saddens me so much to hear about all those other people, including your family, who sustained damage or worse, lost their life. :sad1:

Looks like you have beer and ice cream in your hands on those Star Tours pictures, so I'm guessing you got them before, and not after.
Too bad your night took a turn for the worse. Boo!

Nice update Nikki, sorry the night didn't end well

So glad to hear you were ok after the storm - I can't imagine how scary it must have been for you all.

Emma princess: x

Your Epcot day looks and sounds like a lot of fun!!!

Sorry the downpour at DHS put a downer on the day but overall it looks like a fun one!!

Glad to hear you have weathered the storm ok. Prayers going out to all those who have been affected.

That's really funny! I almost hate to say this but it won't be long before Ashley with be able to have a drink with you at dinner! ;)

Don't think she does not remind me of that ALL the time too! _ LOL!!!!

I am so sorry about your DHS experience! There is nothing worse than being wet and cold, especially in summer!

Hi Nikki!
I'm finally here! Loving your report, as always! That picture of you wearing the security guard's hat made me crack up again. :lmao: What a funny moment!

I'm so glad you guys came out of the storm okay and that you never lost power on top of it.

Hahaha, I just had a vision of you walking through World Showcase heading towards Soarin' and then SQUIRREL!

Oh the boat to DHS. Seriously, they take forever! I would seriously rather walk from Epcot to DHS. Which honestly doesn't take that long.

Seriously though, summer rain plus the cold from the A/C is never fun! I feel your pain.

Ugh, sorry to hear that such a fantastic day ended so crappy! But what a day at Epcot!!!!!!!!!!!!! :goodvibes

I'm so happy to hear that you and your family are safe.

I am so sorry to hear about the devastation on the east coast but am glad to hear you are ok.

My quick trip to WDW before Halloween was WAY TOO QUICK :rotfl: But it was totally fun being the cool mom that takes their kids to WDW to play hookie from school :thumbsup2 Sandy caused some wicked winds and cold in Florida though so we didn't get much swimming in and it was really cold our last night there and the kids wanted to leave Epcot by 7 pm. It was COLD though so we left and enjoyed the evening back at the Poly (turns out the sushi place has to go!) My son ordered some food at Captain Cooks while I waited for the sushi then we all headed back to our room where we pigged out on food and watched movies. It's funny how you end up having some of the funnest times doing the simplest things at Disney ;) So I totally understand why you wished you had just headed back to the resort (or stayed at Epcot!) But it looks like you had a great time!!

Oh, did I mention that my son ordered all the food from Captain Cooks AND sushi even AFTER he had 7....SEVEN... servings of the filet mignon from the Canada booth :scared1: He's 10!!! I gave him money for 2 servings but he used his own money for the rest (so cute, he wanted steak - not toys).

Nikki!!! I FINALLY caught up!!!! The only upside to me being back on the evening shift at work, TONS more time for DIS! Your Epcot day sounds similar to mine last week... :drinking1

Wet and cold AND hungover! Don't forget, we'd been drinking all day! The "drunk"ness had worn off by then....

Wow!! He's a growing boy!! Sounds like you had a nice little getaway!

Oh those days in Epcot....I can't think of anything better!

Finally got myself caught up. Too bad about your evening. I can feel the awfulness you felt. I hope the next day gets better again though.

Now that it is almost done, I'm caught up! You guys have had lots of adventures so far - great report! All the rain is no fun though - I also hate being wet and cold. Looking forward to reading the rest :)

Glad you are hear! Sorry it took me so long to respond. I've been so not into this TR lately! Hope to update soon! :)

I have been so horrible with this TR and I don't know why!!! Just busy, I guess. Get this - I haven't even developed my pictures and made an album from this trip! I always do that, like, right away!!! I just got a $29.50 extra bucks from CVS so maybe I'll do that soon.

Just wanted to with everyone a happy new year! I'll be going to Disney again in.......

25 days!!!

Going for a long weekend Jan. 26-30. So excited! We are staying at French Quarter, which I have NEVER stayed at before so I am super excited! Hopefully, I will finish THIS TR before then so I can start a new one!
