Tusker House Question

We are going to Disney for two weeks in July and are in the process of making ADRs right now. The question we are struggling with is do we go with an 8:00 am breakfast at Tusker House to get into AK early or do a 10:30 breakfast to have a little bit of breakfast and lunch and a little break after the rope drop attractions. Anybody have opinions or experience they want to offer? Thanks! We have a 7,4, and 1 year old

We did this breakfast a couple of times with the 8am reservation back when Animal Kingdom had a "rope drop". It was nice to get to the rides just ahead of rope drop guests. Now that AK allows guests to enter the park usually before official park opening, I don't know if breakfast guests are getting this advantage.

I think 10:30 is too early to stop touring the park if opening is 9am..ish. AK will get more crowded towards mid-day. So if Tusker House is a must, I'd still go with 8am and do more touring in the morning hours.

Twice now we've done AK during EMH. We head for the Safari and then a few more things before a meal at Tusker House at 10:30. You get all the breakfast choices plus the lunch food as well. We love it!

Our prepark Tusker House last July was one of our favorite Disney experiences, hands down.

HERE is the post in my trip report about it

We literally had the park to ourselves for the stroll from the gates back to Africa. We were finished eating by 8:30ish, and it was so fun just looking around at everything with hardly anyone else around.

I agree with a pp who said 10:30 is a little early to take a break at Animal Kingdom, and get as much early morning touring done as possible before the heat (and afternoon rain) really ramps up.

Good luck making your decision!

We did this as well. Rode Expedition Everest several times in a row, had a leisurely exploration of the shops, and then breakfast at 10:30. All our Fast Passes were after breakfast (Safari, Expedition Everest again, and I forget what the third one was) did the bird show, and were about to get in line for Dinosaur when I literally couldn't take the heat anymore and left the park. Despite my meltdown, it was a great morning!

We love the early morning breakfast and then heading to see the safari. If you are lucky you will get in/out within an hour and head right over to the safari while the animals are a little more active because it's a little cooler. Have fun!

I think the only time the late breakfast works is if you do it on an EMH morning, so you can get over 2 hours if touring behind you before you stop for your meal. But if it's a regular opening, then the preopening breakfast is better.

1) You have another choice.
2) Make an ADR at or prior to 9:20am.
3) You can get into the park and Tusker as early as 7:45am.
4) This gives you the option of making your ride choices on-the-fly.
