Does anyone know anything about this attraction? I did a search and saw nothing posted.

When entering the Living Seas pavilion last Wed, we were asked by a CM if we wanted to preview this new attraction called Turtle Talk with Crush (the turtle from Finding Nemo). I asked the guy what kind of attraction is it? He told me it was completely different than anything we had seen at Disney. So, I said sure. It was amazing!! There were about 10 creators and imagineers in the room with us and they asked our feedback afterward. Everyone there gave it 5 stars out of 5.

So again anyone know anything about it??

What was it like?? Can you give us some info.... PLease

so this attraction is already there?

I'll give details later tonight when I get home...Have you heard of it??

What a surprise! I wonder how they did that without anyone knowing! Cool! I hope we get to preview it in a few weeks.

huskies90, it sounds like you are the official "Turtle Talk with Crush" expert on the Dis!!!! You'll have to tell us all about it.

huskies90, can't wait for you to get home from work, want to hear about this. As you can see we will be there in less than 2 weeks. Can't believe that there could be a new attraction that no one else would have any info about :smooth:

My guess is that it is an interactive Crush that can converse with the crowd; much like the Mystic Fountain at IOA.

Can't remember where I saw it, but it's Crush on a screen, with "real time" animation, meaning he can talk to the kids in the room. I guess there's a camera there for the "actor" to see everyone so he can interact with the guests.

7 days and counting!!!!!

We NEED to know :hyper:

Crush is a household favorite :teeth:

Do we put this in our touring plan?

Look forward to the 411
:smooth:

Thanks

I saw it mentioned in the November Mickey Monitor. It didn't give many details. It sounds like a great addition to an amazing place-WDW!:D

OK back from work. Here are the details. It sounds like many of you have heard something about it. Most of your discriptions are very close.

There are "spoilers" ahead [hmmm, fun getting to type that :-)]:

Well first off, based on advice on this board and others I will say this proved true: when a CM pulls you aside and asks you if you want to preview something always say "YES"!!

OK, it was definitely different than anything else we saw all week. It was in a very small theater. There were about 50 people or so sitting in the theater on benches and then a small area up front. The creators were standing around the room with clip boards taking notes. The area upfront was for kids to go up and sit down. It was in front of a movie screen. The images on the screen made it seem like you were looking through a glass window into an ocean scene with water, rocks, the ocean floor, etc. There was an image of a microphone on the side.

The premise is that Crush will come out and talk to and interact with everyone in the theater. There was a CM that moderated everything on the theater side, introduced the attraction and then got the crowd to call for Crush. The CM had a mic in his hand and would go around the room with it when Crush called on folks to ask a question.

So, we call for Crush and he comes out. He is a vitual reality movie image that swims around on the screen, talks, makes expressions and reacts to the crowd. Basically the whole show is interactive he can look into the audience and see what the crowd or kids are doing. He asks questions and then the crowd (mostly the kids) ask him questions. What made the attraction great was that he was absolutely hilarious the way he interacted and using the virtual reality technology, how he was able to move and react, make expressions etc. For example someone's "shell phone" went off in the middle and he had several one liners for the guy. It was really cute and had me laughing off my seat. Duuuuude!!

At the end the overwhelming rating from the crowd was a 5 out of 5. Positive comments from the crowd included the interaction especially with the kids and having the kids sitting upfront so Crush could call on them and ask their name etc. My kids loved it even though they weren't called on.

I personally was impressed with the virtual reality effects. How was he able to react so quickly and make expressions etc?? Obviously there was a cameral or two sided mirror someone was looking through but the movement of the turtle image was amazing.

Some kinks I think they need to work out was the CM with the mic had to step over kids and others to get to them to ask a question and although the interaction was great, I think there should have been a little more structure around the performance.

That being said, it just goes to show you how marketing and advertising plays such a huge part in hype. The SGE attraction was so hyped up on all the message boards. I saw that on Tuesday and I thought it was incredibly lame. This attraction was so, so much better yet very few have even heard of it...

There's a thread about this on the Mouseplanet boards with spoilers. I don't know if I'm allowed to post a link?

From what I have found out it should be like what Dznefreek has said. Crush will be able to pick you out and talk to you. But it will be basically something like hey you in the hat, what's hanging. But even if that was it with nothing else..this is still great news. We cannot wait to see this.

Thanks for the heads up !!! What area of the Living Seas was Crush located in? We're having dinner there one night - will definitely have to check if this is operating - we are major Crush fans!!!:smooth:

Wow, thanks for the info! I wonder when this will open! Glad to hear that Living Seas is getting some attention!

Did they replace the old pre-show movie with this attraction??? I wish they could bring the ride part back somehow. My DD sure got a kick out of it

It was in a different section downstairs in the main viewing area not in the movie theater. I am a little surprised they are presenting this in such a small theater. Like I said it is really good and I am sure once the word gets out, it will be very very difficult to get in to see.

I think it might only in that small theatre whilst it's in it's trial stages - the CM's/Imagineers in our group were saying that this was just a rough and ready stage when someone commented on it perhaps being better with the lights dimmed and they seemed to say that 'problem' was something that wouldn't exist later on. I dunno, just speculating there :)

As it is, you go in the main attraction movie show but you head out through an emergency exit on the left in to the smaller theatre. After Crush they gave us the option of going back to the main film or straight to the travellators and the main exhibit.

****More spoilers****

I will say that it's a lot more than Crush just saying 'Hey dude in the hat' - he asks questions, including kids names and he'll refer back to them, by name. There are two camera's at the front of the theatre, one on either side where Crush obviously sees things from. Whilst there is a CM with a mike (yes, we had the clambering over people problem with our CM too when Crush asked where someone's mom & dad was and they were in the middle of the 3rd row back "Awesome, so that's your little Dude at the front? Where are all the others - you have hundreds right? You mean you humans don't lay lots of eggs on the beach!?" - "Oh, no, thank god!") the CM is directed by Crush on where to go and who to talk to, it's not scripted in any way from within the theatre as far as I can tell - everything is totally spontaneous :)
