Turning tickets into an Annual Pass questions

I will be in WDW in 10 days and can hardly wait to get back there! I have purchased an 8 day park hopper ticket as part of a package through Disney. When I get to WDW I want to convert my 8 day hopper into a Platinum Annual Pass and pay the difference. Can I do this at Guest Services inside the Magic Kingdom or where can I do it? Is there a guesstimation as to what the amount is that I would have to pay to convert the 8 day hopper ticket into an AP? Will I need to do anything afterwards or am I all set? Will I get a discount card or something to show for merchandise and dining?

1. Yes
2. Any Guest Relations, or ticket booth at WDW.
3. No guessing needed. Subtract the current gate price of the ticket that you HAVE, from the price of the ticket that you WANT. Pay that amount.
4. Every adult will need a legal photo ID to get the AP.

A couple questions that I forgot to ask: Do I get a different magic band or do I use the one I just received for the trip? How does the memory maker that comes with the AP work?

You just use the same MB. Be sure to get the AP card though because you need it to show (with ID) for discounts. Later you'll be able to customize another MB in MDE to be shipped to you as your "AP band" but it's interchangeable with any other band on your MDE profile.

How does the memory maker that comes with the AP work?

Once the active AP is linked to your MDE account, you will be able to download your pictures from the PhotoPass website and/or the MDE mobile app.

Give the pictures about 24 hours to start showing up on your MDE Photopass. After that, they start showing up a bit quicker.

Both weekly and daily prices are the same for everyone

Give the pictures about 24 hours to start showing up on your MDE Photopass. After that, they start showing up a bit quicker.

And, in case you didn't know, it will turn on access to a full years worth of photos from the date you upgrade back. In case you have any other trips the past 12 months

We converted our 8 day park hopper tickets into an annual pass inside the magic kingdom at guest relations it was very simple line can often be long at guest relations in the park so just be prepared for that. They will give you your annual pass right there and that is what you show to get discounts. You need to show a photo id with your AP in order to get the discounts at the end of last year they looked like this

Note that you can also do the transaction at any ticket window, not just at GR. Since those folks are experts on ticket transactions, your chances of avoiding issues with under-trained cast members are quite likely better if you go there.

I think the only reason to skip a ticket window would be if want to to TiW at the same time. GS is the only place that can sell those so we went there instead of standing in line twice. For our renewal, since it's not at the same time now, we went on to ticket window
