Turn the Bus Around and Take Us Back to Disney! *COMPLETED*

So first I have to say that when I check the DIS and see you've updated, I get so excited! I just love your TR!! Second, HS is my second favorite park after MK so I won't go into how much I loved everything in this report.

I thought you all might be headed to Indiana Jones. The hat was a good hint!

The girls are adorable as always!

And I loved hearing about 50s prime time. We are going there for the first time on our trip. Did anybody get in trouble for having their elbows on the table or have to go wash dishes when you were there? I think I might try to get in trouble when we go! :lmao:

Can't wait for more!

P.S. I love fantasmic too!!!

Awwww.... thanks for those awfully kind words! :goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

I am glad people like my trip report!! It makes it so fun when people follow along!

50 PTC was great, Our waited wasn't that great at getting into the vibe as some of the stories I had heard, but still we all had so much fun. The food was fantastic. I really loved it! I would probably do that one again, but really wanna try sci fi next time.

So it was the Indiana Jones hat. :) Love that your DH was rockin' the IJ hat.

Love your ride photos. Might just have to ride ToT a few times to get my money out of the PP+. The faces of the other riders are probably priceless.

That one of Bob is too funny because he looks like he is sitting still in a chair watching TV or something.

Glad you enjoyed Prime Time. I love the bar area/waiting room too, I walk around taking pictures of stuff and sending them to my sisters with the tag line "Aunt so-and-so had this in her living room", etc.

No claw at Pizza Planet??? I guess Disney wants you to buy the stuffed animals, not win them but very strange they don't sell an alien. Love those aliens!!!

Bummer that Olivia got turned away for the 2nd spin on Star Tours. So sad she was brought to tears :sad1: but it looks like the light saber made her happy again.

So Fantasmic was your favorite from the entire trip? This is on my must do for this trip since we have only seen it one time and that was 4 years ago so the kids probably don't remember it.

:happytv: I just noticed your Friends reference. :thumbsup2

Haha, that is a funny pic of Bob, and yes, ride that one over and over just to see the photos, too funny..I bet the people working that PP stand have seen some good ones!

This whole day was great. Everything was amazing. Fantasmic was my fave show overall, it just had a bit of everything and even though it was late and we were tired, we were all so intrigued and into the show. It was pretty emotional. Love it! Love it all!!

Call me crazy but I LOVE the pizza planet pizza :( I don't know why but I like it so much better than the flatbreads they have elsewhere in the parks and even our local pizza place at home.

Yea, pizza wasn't bad, but to me it was just pizza. What I would expect I guess; but after having the Wolfgang Puck pizza, it put all other pizza on this trip to shame! I guess I just had to high of expectations. It wasn't that bad, just not expected and I wasn't used to any let downs because everything had exceeded my expectations this far. :confused3

Whoops! Totally forgot to add the recap from our Hollywood Studios day to the end of the last post, so I will just make it have its own post instead!! Sorry, but enjoy! :thumbsup2

Todays Recap

Overall this was probably my favorite day of the trip! ::yes:: I got to do everything I wanted and planned and so much more. This weather was so nice and cool and overcast most the day, which was a nice change. We met soooo so so many characters. The rides were my favorite. The shows were amaze-balls. And Fantasmic, well, it was just the most perfect cherry on top. I wouldn’t call this my favorite park, because it didn’t have the classic Disney feel and attractions of Magic Kingdom, which cannot be topped, but I would say it was the most fun park. I loved it. And the crowds were low for us, which just made the day that much smoother. :moped:

Overall Day Rating: 10/10

Next, The One With the Prairie Dog!

I would probably do that one again, but really wanna try sci fi next time.

we did sci fi on our last trip because my husband's boss, a Disney pro, recommended it. I wasn't sure, and wondered if the girls would like it or be scared. well.....they loved it! the movie clips were so cheesy, our oldest just laughed and laughed. I don't remember the food being that impressive, but good. I remember being happy with what the girls got--they actually ate. our waitress seemed a little snippy and didn't visit our table much, but that could have been because we had a LATE reservation and were one of the last tables to finish. she was probably ready to get the heck out of there! :) anyway, you should do it. it's fun!

I liked looking at the list of all you did at HS. I have a list of quite a few M&Gs and was worried we wouldn't have time to do that, see some shows and get to rides, but it looks totally doable when I see your day! :woohoo:

Good to know about Sci Fi! Thanks!

Glad the list is helpful, it kinda helps me to see what all we did like that, then I really know we did good! There is a LOT of M&G's in HS that you can only find there, and I was worried too, but I got almost all of them done soooo quick! I suggest doing those super early, first thing! Grab FP & get in line for the M&Gs instead of riding right away. I noticed the start times were staggered too so that helped. I regret not doing Sofia early, but I didn't realize she was even there!! We just happened upon her! That was the longest line of the day for us, and I could have easily done it after Woody & Buzz and still had time to get to Monsters I bet, oh well. It all worked out!

I agree with you HS is a blast! We also do almost all you did when we go, except we add Jedi Training (a must for DS :darth:), and the Animation Academy which my DD's are addicted to :artist: I hope they still have the Monsters U stuff ging on when we get there in May!

Got there for opening, about 8:30, and stayed until 2nd showing of Fantasmic at 10pm- so open to close!!

Ok, thanks. I was planning on doing an open to close also, but I am not sure I will need to if I am not going to be doing that much. Though it will take me longer to get around and longer to do other things, so I may need that time just to be able to do my fave things. Lol. So hard to know. :confused3. This trip will work out the kinks, and I know what to expect next time I go back. :lmao: hopefully I can get someone to travel with me again.

Wow I missed so much during our trip! Trying to catch up now..:coffee:

I'm with you on the cups. We took them with us in the morning because we wanted to fill them and then have drinks in them on our ways to the park but then you're stuck with something you can't even use all day. They should really make a way to use them in the parks, even if it's separate pricing or something. :confused3

The RFID system for mugs was in place during our trip but my understanding of it is that you're allowed to use it at any resort during your stay. So like one day we had ours when we were at the Beach Club for dinner and I was able to fill it up in their gift shop. The paper cups also definitely had RFID chips and limited the refills and times of the refills.

Oh goodness I'm so glad you got to see the welcome show! And I may have small tears in my eyes because Maddie's way of saying Mickey Mouse is exactly the same as DBF's niece when she was there with us in January!

Olivia is beyond precious with the princesses! What wonderful memories and a great way to start the MK day! :goodvibes

The LM queue is beyond gorgeous isn't it?! And the pictures they put of it on the PP CDs make me so happy because they look perfect.

Glad you guys got to sit in the West Wing for lunch. What a perfect place for your first lunch in the MK! :cheer2:

Yay for finding the camera! I'm glad Olivia ended up liking the HM! Glad you guys got to see the parade. We absolutely adore it and I'm so sad that it's being replaced soon.

WPE is such a great QS option and a great value on the DDP.

Love all the pictures around AoA! It's so amazingly themed there.

Isn't it a great feeling to be waiting for the bus that the crowd isn't at?!:cheer2:

It's great that they have characters come out before park opening now! Sorry to hear that about the PP pictures. I've never noticed pictures missing from our PP but I do have pictures of other people on my card which makes me wonder if they just don't have them at all because that's sad.

Such a cute experience with Buzz and Woody. Smart to head there first thing in the morning-- I don't think that line ever gets short!

The food at 50s PTC looks delicious! The viewfinder dessert menu is so cute too!

What a busy day at DHS but I'm glad you guys stayed for Fantasmic! I remember being scared of it when I was little though so I'm glad Maddie and Olivia weren't!

Yay! All caught up now! :cheer2:

Alrighty, where were we?!?!?

Thats right! Its Animal Kingdom Day!!

Today started like most, only this time I was happily waking up after a restful nights sleep thanks to us fixing our AC mishap! Yay for good sleep! Even if it was only five hours of it& moving on.. I, of course, had everything packed up and ready to go this morning. I even remembered to put Tinkerbelle gifts out! The kids each got a plastic safari hat I picked up at dollar tree! They were excited. We grabbed out breakfast to go and headed to Landscape of Flavors with our cups to grab some drinks and eat our food quickly.

By 7:35 we were in line for the AK bus!!

Didnt take long for us to get there, and we were the only family on the bus as well. We walked up to the entryway and took a few photos..

Then we proceeded to hang out by the turnstiles. It wasn't even eight yet, and park opened at nine, so we got some maps and studied a bit while we waited. There was really no M&Gs that were on my must dos today, except Pocahontas. But she had several times where she would be coming back throughout the day, she wasn't a constant, so I knew I could wait to get in line later. My main goal was to get to the Safari first, because I had heard the animal were more active first thing, in the cooler morning.

While we waited, I let Maddie run around a bit, as I chased her down, hoping shed burn off some steam. There really was hardly anyone here. We sat back under a tree for quite some time. When more people started walking up and standing at the turnstiles to get in, we finally gave up our seat and made our way to stand as well.

They opened the park a little early at 8:45 and soon we were in! Even at opening, the crowds were pretty sparse. Having studied my map diligently, I knew the route to take towards Kilamanjaro Safaris, so we headed in that direction. Once we came upon the Tree of Life though, we had to stop and take some pics&

Right after these I saw another PP Photographer who was just walking up, a little closer to the shot, so we went ahead and stopped again. This lady was soooo sweet. I asked about doing Magic Shots and she happily took some. She took sooooo many, in fact. We have a LOT of pics from her, but heres just a few&

After our morning photo shoot we finally made our way into Harambe

And soon we were heading out on Safari!

Our guide was so awesome, a perfect one for our first time. We only had one other family on board with us, and we were in the front row, so we got to talk to her a lot. She was pretty funny, knowledgeable, and articulate, all qualities that youd want in your safari guide! ;)

We saw pretty much every animal that I expected, I dont think there were any main species that we didnt get to see. We even caught some glimpses at the lions. Overall, the animals didnt seem all that active, but really, despite it being like nine am, it was already pretty warm, so they were probably getting toasted already.

Olivia and Maddie were both pretty impressed. Everytime an animal came into view Maddie would yell out her traditional Ba-Bowwwwwww noise and point. That became her word for anything that wasnt Minnie or Mickey, they were Mi-Mowwwwwww haha&everything and everyone else was just Ba-Bowwwwwww& what can I say? Girl knows her priorities, and the mice get a special treatment. :)

After our safari we headed through the Pagani trail since it was right there. This was soooo cool! I could sit and watch gorillas all day. They are sooooo interesting. They are so smart, and close to humans, I am just fascinated by them.

I tore myself from them to check out some other fun little critters though&

Prairie dogs!! I had to text one of my BFFs, Jess, this pic because we have a very old, long-standing inside joke about prairie dogs. Ya see, we watched Lion King 1 ½ one day, and we both found the song that Timons clan sings VERY amusing. Ya know the one&where the prairie dogs swish their heads back and forth, looking for predators while they sing this jaunty little tune..

What was that?!?!? {SWISH}{SWISH} Quick before the hyena commmmmmmmmme!

Anyway, we both found that highly humorous, for some reason, and from time to time we like to sing and mimic the song. And anytime we happen upon a prairie dog we MUST tell each other about it and reference said song. Happens more than ya think&..

Next, The One With the Swahili!

Moving On!!!

Okay, so after getting my yoo-hoos watching the little doggies run around, Olivia and Laci noticed the Wilderness Explorers stand, thus beginning our mission to stop at Every. Single. One. Haha, actually, I don’t even know if that’s possible because there is like 50 of those buggers…and they can be QUITE the time suck. However, Laci and Liv were having so much fun collecting “badges” so we just had to let them have their fun really…I mean who am I to decide what they want to do.

So we continued through the trail and happened upon a souvenir cart where I was so inclined to actually purchase something! {GASP} I know, right!? Well…I found some cute little binoculars that were pretty cheap for Disney, at only $5.99, and they really completed Olivia’s “look” so I grabbed them for her.

After that, we just walked around and explored a bit. There is just soooo much to discover in AK. Everywhere we turned there was some brilliant surprise. We saw beautiful, huge, butterflies hovering over flowers, lovely, mesmerizing fish swimming, and so many more animals that are out around the park. Not to mention the beautiful scenery. I think I could spend a day just walking around this park, not even riding rides, seeing shows, or meeting characters. Just walking and looking at scenery and animals. It is so lovely. I love it. Seriously.

I just do not get how people can rush by this park. SO many TR’s I read, people report rushing through, doing only a half day, etc… but this park has so much to offer!! It is relaxing and beautiful. I know some expect the classic Disney stuff, but really this park could almost be a rest day, if people just took the time to slow down and enjoy it for what it is. Okay, I will step off the soapbox now! :thumbsup2

Anyway, we made our way back to Harambe, and partook in even more shopping! I found some lovely beaded animals in a gift shop here, and opted for a keychain one, so I could carry it with me, I chose the elephant.

While shopping, and African music group started playing music for a street dance party that was starting. I made my way outside to look for my family who had wondered out while I was shopping, and when I walked by this music guys, well, guess who they pulled (more like drug) over to dance?!

Yup, you guessed it! Me! Thanks to my birthday button, I was called over (forcefully! Haha!) to dance. Now I enjoy dancing as much as the next person, but not particularly in front of a crowd of onlookers, so I grabbed Olivia along with me. This way I could be helping her along and not have to be so on the spot myself! Haha!

I have no idea how long I had to dance up there, maybe ten minutes? But it felt like F O R E V E R!! They guys kept bringing one or two people up in front at a time to dance so I had to do this like twice, and then at the very end the main dancing dude called me in front by myself. He proceeded to tell the crowd it was my birthday, and had everyone repeat “Happy Birthday” to me, in Swahili, before singing to me in Swahili as well! It was quite the spectacle. The hubs caught most of it on video, but here’s a few pics Margo grabbed!

It was embarrassing, to be sure, but fun, nonetheless. Its impromptu fun like this that sets Disney apart from the rest, and I am glad we got to experience it!

Anyway, as I said, Chris took some video if the encounter, therefore, that means he did show up again. Come to find out he went to inspect some baked goods across the way when I had originally went looking for him! Silly boy!

After dancing our pants off, we decided we were getting a little hungry, I already knew what I wanted, I had eyed it on several boards and TR’s before my trip, fried rice!!! I LOVE fried rice, and the good news is that it only uses a snack credit!! It can be a meal for me, so I was all set to go searching for some.

We found a nice little road that led us towards the Asian area. Along the way we found a nice spot for some TOL pics.

When we entered Asia we also found more WE stations, so the kiddos had to stop, and I took some more pics…

Finally we found the Yak & Yeti walk-up window, bingo!! We all ordered some chicken fried rice, as well as some egg rolls. Again, all snack credits!! We found us a little table to enjoy our meal; however, we were not the only ones there, a curious little duck decided to shack up under our table!! This little dude, and later, several of his friends had to join us. Thanks to Maddie and her messy eating habits, they enjoyed quite the meal! Although, I didn’t appreciate them pecking at my toes! Toes are not food, duckies!!

After our meal, I explored the little shops around and the kids stopped at yet another WE station. It was all good though, because there was a real neat monkey area, where they swung across ropes overhead, and so I checked that out for a bit. I also found this fun little photo op with Liv..

Since we were already in Asia, we had to make our way to Mount Everest that was looming in the distance, so we started off in that direction. We came across another great photo op on the way, along with a PP Photog, so, of course, we had to stop!

I LOVE the pics, they turned out awesome! I love all the shrines with offerings that are around this area for the yeti. So cool and authentic looking!

Eventually we found our destination and braved the mountain, barely making it away with a close call from the yeti himself!

This ride was FUN! I didn’t get to appreciate the queue too much, because we were in the FP line for hardly any time, but what I did see was, as usual, quite amazing. The ride was fun, and I would have loved to ride it a few more times, sadly, we never made it back that day though.

I did find the most adorable Yeti for Maddie while we were here though. Obviously, his name is Yeti, and he has slept in Maddie’s bed with her every night since this day!! We love, love, love our Yeti!!

After Expedition Everest, we found, yep, anotherrrrrrrr WE station, but I actually took a photo this time, because the CM was so sweet and spending so much time with Liv.

We headed towards DinoLand next, since it was in the direction we were headed, but along the way we found a show we wanted to see…but would we get to see it!?

The One with the Cute Tumble Monkeys!

What a fun birthday celebration! Love reading about your nice day at AK.

Do they give stickers at the WE stations or are they stamps. I can't remember too much about these. I think there have been a few versions of these AK "kidcot" stations over the years but I don't think we have ever experienced them.

even though AK isn't my favorite park, it looks like you guys are having a great time! how cute were the girls with their little hats on?!? and your fried rice is making me hungry! I think we have plans to go to yak and yeti for lunch on our AK day too. i'm going to have to remember that!

oh....I totally have that song from lion king in my head now too! :rotfl:
