Turn OPRAH on!

The first woman was a piece of work. I know Suze said not to judge, but how is it possible that she was wearing Chanel jewelry and her daughters 2 year olds teeth were rotting? That's just insane.

I can see where people could easily get in credit card debt. I get that. But to put your children in jeopardy so you can have nice clothes is disgusting.

That husband HAD to be so p-whipped by her. I kept screaming at my husband during the show: WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT MAN??? WHY DID HE LET HER GET AWAY WITH THIS STUFF. I'm betting she is a REAL piece of work at home.

All my shoes and purses combined don't add up to $900. :lmao:

Make that two of us. Reminds me I have to screw my purse back together tonight. My two year old Kohls special ahs seen better days! :rotfl:

He had what appeared to be a Hickey on his neck:lmao: I can't say anything else :rotfl:

Yes, I thought the same thing.:lmao: All I could think of during their whole segment was that she must have had it all over him in the sex department to get away with that. He just couldn't quit her.:lmao:

It's nothing short of child abuse IMHO.

He knew what was going on just not how bad it had become. He was just as responsible for the kids rotting teeth, no insurance and living way beyond their means. He just chose to ignore it so he would not have to accept any reponsibility for it.

Now, it appears that the first family will have to move from California to Seattle, Wa. so the whole family will get a "new" start. The sex had better be "off" the chart or he could have paid less.:thumbsup2

He was a computer security specialist and she worked in HR. Together they pulled down about $148K per year. They appeared to be renting in NYC. They both were driving Lexus (was the plural for that---Lexi??) and she had a $900 a pair shoe habit and designer handbag habit.

Basically, if they sold the cars and cut their spending they might be okay according to Suze Orman.

I just don't get this national pastime of middle class people thinking they need to keep up with the Sex and the City women. When did it become necessary to own several pairs of $900 shoes and purses that were $1200 a piece. Why do we middle class feel like we need to mimic the rich so much?:confused3

$900 shoes & $1200 purses? OMG... That's all I have to say :scared:

What was the story with the first family? Did they both work, just him? Sounds like (from this thread) she just shopped? How much money did they make and how much were they in debt?

I totally agree. The other part that bothered me was her sons closet with one red shirt. $300 daily in Starbucks, $4,000 in Hair Extensions, and $100 per day at the salon and the kid has one shirt!?!?!?

sounds like a hoot.

The replay Oprah late at night in the Chicago area - I'll have to get it on DVR.

They were in debt to their credit card companies for over 100,000.00 and had a 0% mortgage that increased by 20,000.00 per year. They never put a dime toward the principal.

The wife does not work and the husband earns 100,000.00 per year which averages out to over 5,000.00 per month after taxes. They have 6 kids.

They have no health insurance even though the 2nd oldest child is sick and in need of yearly tests. She has not seen a doctor in 2 and a half years.

Since they don't have dental insurance the 2 (or 3) year old child has rotten teeth and has never been to the dentist.

To me it amounts to child abuse and I can't believe Oprah didn't call that family on the neglect that they have put their children through. JMO.

That woman (Felize) didn't even seem phased by anything Suze was telling her. Suze was pretty much telling them that they were at rock bottom, and she giggled and laughed and seemed excited by her "new start". In addition to all the advice Suze gave them, she should have recommended that Felize get psychological help.

As for the dh, I think he was just caught up in having a trophy wife and he's just as guilty as she is. You have to be an idiot to not know that you're in that much debt!

I didn't see it, but I read the recap on her site. It's just insane that this woman thinks it is OK to live like that. And like others said, the DH is an idiot for not knowing fully what was going on. I'm not saying that he should know about every purchase and such, but to NOT have health insurance for his family, that's on him too!! I couldn't believe that Suze said they needed to move! That was probably the biggest piece of advice I've ever heard her give someone. I mean, moving is a HUGE change of your life!

The husband's look on his face through the whloe show was priceless! He was so po'd he could not even look at her! I wonder if they will make it. I think Suze was to hard on him. She blamed him too much. Yes, he should have gotten insurance and been more aware, but the wife lied over and over and over!! He should have put his foot down with the b-day parties--a snow party! please! and a zoo party! Who does that? Suze said they only made like 65,000 a year! To me, that is not a lot for a family of 8!
