Turn OPRAH on!

Who? Oprah or Suze Orman?

The wife is bad, but how do the kids not complain that mom is selling their clothes?? How do you make 100k a year and NOT have insurance for your kids.

I do the bills in my house, and my dh has no idea what comes in and out, I control that, but I am responsible. I do like to shop (well bargain shop) and my dd11 has way too many clothes, but they were all bought dirt cheap. I won't spend 50.00 on a pair of jeans!! 10.00 or less.

THis family is in so deep that I can't see them getting out. I can't see them selling their house and being able to pay off the mortgage in today's real estate market.

I also don't see this marriage working.

WOW - 6 kids no insurance!

$1500 for a BIRTHDAY party!

What about college much less kids' teeth a child's MRI, 2 years late!

The husband brings home $6000. a month & they do not have health insurance. 1 daughter has a tumor on her optic nerve & is supposed to have a MRA every year. They just skipped it for 2 years so she can shop:scared1:

The other daughters teeth are rotten. But the mother looks FANTASTIC:thumbsup2

i'm taping oprah right now (while i'm making dinner)

looking forward to a lively show when i watch it later!! :lmao:

Ahhhh the people on it. Doesn't start for another 10 minutes here. Sounds interesting.

It is 2:48pm here. Oprah starts at 3. Sound like a wingdinger today!

Oops - I thought this was a thread for Stedman-wantabees.

I turned it on too late & missed most of it... What do the couple do for a living? They have 200 grand in student debt & he drives a car he pays 800.00 a month for (apparently not for long)... What are they going to do about childcare after her 12 weeks of unpaid leave (another issue, her income loss for 3 months)

I don't envy their position by the sounds of it, do they own a home at all?

When I reread my title on the Board I knew I was going to get that:rotfl:

The first lady was the real wack. The second couple were not totally insane.

He was a computer security specialist and she worked in HR. Together they pulled down about $148K per year. They appeared to be renting in NYC. They both were driving Lexus (was the plural for that---Lexi??) and she had a $900 a pair shoe habit and designer handbag habit.

Basically, if they sold the cars and cut their spending they might be okay according to Suze Orman.

I just don't get this national pastime of middle class people thinking they need to keep up with the Sex and the City women. When did it become necessary to own several pairs of $900 shoes and purses that were $1200 a piece. Why do we middle class feel like we need to mimic the rich so much?:confused3

The first woman was a piece of work. I know Suze said not to judge, but how is it possible that she (the woman in debt) was wearing Chanel jewelry and her daughters 2 year olds teeth were rotting? That's just insane.

I can see where people could easily get in credit card debt. I get that. But to put your children in jeopardy so you can have nice clothes is disgusting.

i'm watching it now (taped it earlier)

suze is not mincing any words with them, either!

another couple, living WAY beyond their means.....

Have you watched Dirty Sexy Money? If not but you don't care about a spoiler, highlight this next part and you can read the rest of my post. On last night's show the one Darling woman bought the lawyer's wife a pair of $1200 shoes and sent them to her, after the wife told her it was insane to spend the same amount you would on car insurance for the year on a pair of shoes. My thought was that thank goodness it had reached television drama level. Maybe now people will start to get a clue. (Don't want to ruin it if anyone has it DVR'd)
