Turn Down Service at Poly

Maybe disney is trying to cut cost right now too so they can still offer free o transportation and things like that ... If you already had your room serviced once in the day it does cost alot to have another full staff to come in and do turn down service. To me its not that important to have my bed turned down at night.... I know you pay alot for the delux resort but why base your stay at disney on turndown service. We stay at the value resorts becuase i dont see paying all that money for a room that your barley in ... My trips to disney are based on the magic moments that i can give my kids not on the room service....:confused3

It is not that disney is just trying to save money. It is the way the Poly has been set up for years. You want turn down service, you have to ask for it, or stay at club level.

As far as why AAA gave the Poly the rating they did, I have no idea why. I just know what they offer as far as services, and automatic turn down is not included for each room at the Poly. You may not think it is right, and you may think it should be different, but it is what it is.

Do you need to call from your room each day to request turn down service at the Poly? Or can your TA make a note on your ressie about it?

Last year we were upgraded to club level at the Poly and our beds were only turned down once during our stay. Maybe this is because we only paid to stay in a regular room?

Why are some in this thread under the impression that the Poly does not provide the USA today to its guests?

I've never seen it there. Never came to my room as it does at $80/night hotels I stay at. Never saw it at the desk. Was I missing it somewhere?

Because they don't. But I just stayed at a Hilton Garden Inn for $89 per night and I recieved a copy of USA Today delivered to the door. Great service to boot and the room was very comfy! :thumbsup2

The OP is entitled to feel disappointed, certainly. But, I don't see what the big deal is, frankly. Especially since all you have to do is ask.

We got upgraded to CL at the Poly, and I had no idea that they did turn down..it was nice, but not something I'd miss if I didn't get it.:confused3

We got USA today every day we were there. Anyone know if the GV rooms get it too?

We got it every day, and received a complimentary upgrade as well.

I hear you. I would call and request it. It stinks that all deluxe resorts don't offer it but you can still request it.

At the same time I really hope you were not referring to me when you mention how some people just like to throw money away?
We all have our favorite resorts and the choice is ours to make ~ personal and budget wise.

There's been a little snarkiness on here lately, concerning Deluxe resorts and the people who choose to stay in them. How dare someone not be struggling financially!

I wouldn't look down on someone because they aren't doing well money-wise so why should people get grief because of where they choose to spend their money? I guess it's bound to happen though, with the economy like it is.

I want turn down service, I want to go back to my room and find Kevin Spacey with a cup of hot chocolate and nothing else to give me a goodnight kiss but there isn't much hope of that one can but dream.

How did you come to this conclusion? :confused3 No one is bashing anyone for staying at a Deluxe resort and where did you get the impression that posters were mocking an individual's financial stability? Are you possibly mixing two different threads? This post started out with the OP stating that the Poly should be providing turndown service for all guests and this has now morphed to provision of service in general. I could care less who stays where and for what reasons they are staying. This just doesn't concern me.

My issue is with the fact that Disney claims that the Poly is a Deluxe resort when it doesn't rate that ranking based on the level of service being provided. Whether you choose to pay to stay at this or any other Deluxe resort is your business but don't try and tell me that the Poly meets the standards of any other Deluxe resort outside of the Disney property. They don’t even come close. As I have previously stated, if you are happy with staying at the Poly with the service being offered, that's great and I am happy that you feel you are getting value for your money. But please don't imply that others have no right to criticize Disney and that they should just be thankful for being so close to the magic. That’s just not on. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and you are free to disagree and dispute the facts but don’t deflect the issue by making bold statements that people are looking down their noses at you when there is little to support position.

We always get the US Today when staying at the Poly in a standard room. It is left right at our door every morning. It sounds like some people are swiping them from in front of others doors.

Making false and inflammatory statements about other people's posts - especially when they disagree with you - might get you the accolades of your "groupies" but will do little to bolster your overall position. No one is trying to force someone else to agree with their opinion or to curtail anyone's freedom to either praise or criticize Disney on this thread other than you.

I would suggest that if you are so unhappy with what Disney terms a Deluxe that you exercise your "right" and do not stay at them.

The OP's original question was asked and answered several times over. You can get turn down service at the Poly if you stay club level or request it. Continuing to make this a debate over what constitutes a deluxe resort -whether Disney owned or not - is foolish.

That is interesting Lynn. Our last stay involved 10 mornings of waking up and seeing not a single USA today in front of any door. No matter how early we arose. It is interesting.

To the original topic--yes, I will stay at the Poly regardless. Just an interesting observation re: Deluxe at WDW vs deluxe at WDW (? :) ) vs Deluxe Real World. Disney isn't misleading us by not providing the turn down since they say it is by request only or standard in CL. But it doesn't seem well balanced when comparing. That's all. Still, in 14 days, when I wake up at the Poly... I could care less...

T.C.

Your right hands down. I have stayed deluxe at disney and non disney resorts before.. the poly would not rank in a deluxe grouping if it were not on property. I seriously doubt the GF would either and I like that place.

With that said~ a cruise ship deluxe room is not the same as the Ritz in Vegas either :rotfl:

Its all location location location... the resort will only charge what the guests are willing to pay :rolleyes1

I do not stay at the poly because honestly, I don't find it worth the money. I stay at the GF, not because I think its worth the money, but that particular resort fits my families needs best. I DO think its dumb that the 2 resorts (GF/poly) are close in price and their ammenities are so very different.

With all that said~ you ainte going to change nobody's mind here on nuttin ~ peeps are going to stay and think what they want to :rotfl2:

For the many times we've stayed at the Poly we've never had turn down srevice or towel animals-never asked for it though either. Funny thing, we decided to try WL in Jan-came back to the resort to adorable towel animals everyday, bed turned down a few times & my kids bought Yoda doll & I'd set them up before we'd leave for the day & come back to them climbing the bunk ladder!!! Once we put the little lightsabers in their hands & came back to them holding balloons!!!! It was so fun wondering what they did with them while we were in the parks. I guess it just depends on the mousekeeper???? And we ALWAYS leave a decent tip everyday at both resorts.

Well we did get the USA today every weekday but turn down only once. I guess if we had paid for CL I would of been upset but turn down service is not important to us but I know it is to others guests. We also didn't get our packages delivered to the room. They were held at the concierge desk.

:laughing::laughing: False and inflamatory statements - please fill me in. I am prepared to retract any statement that I made that is false and/or inflamatory. Please provide the quotes. You might also be interested in knowing that I am not doing this for any acolades :rotfl2: (speaking of false statements). It always amazes me how there are a few individuals on these boards that will do anything to ensure that no criticism is allowed to stick to their beloved Disney. Sorry to burst the magic bubble but Disney is as fallable as any other corporation whose primary goal is to make money for its shareholders and just as open to public scrutiny. But for the record, I still think they do a great job. :thumbsup2

As for being unhappy, when did I say that I was unhappy? I also never said that I wouldn't stay at a Disney resort. I merely pointed out that the level of service provided at Disney resorts does not compare to the service provided at establishments off site. You added your own assumptions.
