I remember seeing the Food Network special on Walt Disney World dinning & I was wondering are the Turkey Legs as good as they make them out to be? I have always wanted to try one, so if anyone can please give their opinions on them I would appreciate it.

They are always a MUST have for us on every trip! I love mine dipped in BBQ sauce....yum! They are huge and we alway get them at MGM;)

My dh has to have a couple turkey legs every trip. It is really big and we share. We get one just before Wishes or Fantasmic -while waiting for the shows to begin - its a great snack or meal. I like it too but not as much as my dh. Once a trip is fine with me! :thumbsup2

Enjoy :goodvibes

Thanks for the info. Sounds like in August I will want to try one, at least once & if I like it I will want to have them again.

Personally I swear by them, though I think the ones in Liberty Square/Frontier Land (it's a cart, and it seems to move from trip to trip) are a TAD juicier than the ones in MGM. But you sure can't beat them for an affordable and very sharable filling snack!

Our family enjoys the turkey legs every trip to Disney. Though I have to say that you feel like a caveman eating that thing :teeth:

LOVE LOVE the turkey legs and yes they are HUGE DD 16 and myself shared one last week for supper and we had trouble finishing it all at one time.

Tip about the turkey legs have it wrapped to go then get a disney bag to carry it around in for a bit and let it cool down a couple hours it will then be cool enough to eat without burning fingers.

DD got our turkey leg just outside the American Pavillion at Epcot, DH went to Germany to get his supper that night. I went in the A/C resturant in the American pavillion got our drinks and a table. Worked out wonderful we all got to the table at the same time. Got to eat together in the A/C. BTW the resturant was not crowded when we did this and there was plenty of vacant tables at the time.

How are the turkey legs prepared, just barbequed?

Market Basket Stores up here sell a rotissed turkey leg that I am addicted to!
They sort of have a very brown skin, but still moist, though not juicy. they do put some sort of liquid baste on them, but not a barbeque sauce- :cloud9:

They're smoked. I think they do put a very light baste on them akin to the rotiserie chickens/turkeys, but they are by no means sauce-covered or over-flavored, just a crispy skin and flavorful meat.

I have to have one each trip. I get mine in MGM near ToT.

The rest of the group usually picks at mine, they can't handle more than a few bites.

I even make my own turkey legs at home and tell my boys, "Can't wait to get my Disney leg!"

Had one last year (cant remember where we bought it though) the meat was nice but the leg was full of sinewey bits which spoilt it a bit.

Yeah...I agree. I like the turkey legs, but my wife won't eat them because those "sinewy bits" gross her out big time.

In all of the trips we have taken to Disney World, we had never had a turkey leg......

Until this last trip. We just had to try them while we were at MGM Studios.

I ordered 2 for my family of 5. That was just about the right amount for all of us to share.

They were delicious.

I guess I will have to be the lone dissenter here, we did not care for the Turkey Legs at all. They tasted more like ham then turkey. I am a turkey freak and was really looking forward to one of these, boy was I dissapointed. I also found it was really greasy. JMHO.

Odd. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. :thumbsup2

I got mine at Magic Kingdom, in Tomorrow Land. Right near Buzz Light Year, and the Astro Orbit Ride, I loved mine. I look forward to getting another.

I actually agree. I was a little disappointed. I mean, it wasn't terrible. But I thought it was just O.K. I may have one in the future, but then again I may not. Nothing spectacular. It certainly was nowhere near as good as a leg I'd have from a turkey cooked at home on Thanksgiving.

Actually, now that I'm writing this I've decided to give it another try next trip b/c I could have just gotten it on a bad day.

Thanks for helping to convince me to eat more at WDW.

thanks for all the opinions!
I've wanted to try one but then chickened out (no pun intended :rotfl2: )

I will definatley try one in October :sunny:

No flames please but we think they are sooo gross! Too salty and having to pick through the tough tendons to get a piece of meat...no thanks
