Is Turkey Lake Rd a busy road? I was going to take it (from Residence Inn SW)to get to Conroy Rd. to get to Bubbalous BBque.

Even though it seems to get more traffic every day due to more people finding out about it it still is a pretty traffic free street.I take it all the time to get between Disney and Sea World and Universal.

Agree with DOOM1001 - it's an easy commute, not too busy and we use it as well when traveling between WDW and anywhere around I-drive, etc.:thumbsup2

We stayed at a resort on Turkey Lake Road (Westgate Lakes) in August 2012, so we travelled that particular stretch A LOT over the course of our week's stay. We found it very manageable....busy at times, of course... but never horrible.

Gina, you have stayed at Residence Inn by SW, where is the closest grocery store? Also if we venture down International Drive, is the traffic horrible? We have never been in this area. tia

Certain sections of Idrive can be traffic nightmares.

There is a Super Walmart right on Turkey Lake Road:

and there is a CVS Pharmacy right on the corner by the Residence Inn SW, which has many of the things you might need (unless a major grocery run is needed).

I-Drive can get VERY congested, particularly on the north end (near Universal). The south end (by SeaWorld) is generally much more civilized :rotfl: . The closer you get to Sand Lake Road, the busier it gets.

There is a Publix on Central Florida Parkway.

Thank you, I got your pm. We leave soon, and I am trying to make sure I know everything I need to LOL!

There's also another Publix on Sand Lake rd about 4 minutes away from the Wal Mart on Turkey lake, just turn left from Turkey Lake to Sand Lake. The most congested parts of International Drive is the north end from Sand Lake rd north to the I-Drive Orlando Premium outlets location, south of Sand Lake rd through the convention center,Pointe Orlando and to Sea World is not as bad but at certain times like nights on the weekend will also be bad.During these busier times I take Universal Blvd or Turkey lake rd to avoid International Drive.
