Turkey Day Gang 2009

When Lisa's pomeranian passed on, she lasted 4 whole days until she hit the pound and a few days later, we had an 80 lb black lab completely housebroken....until Mason was declared allergic, but Zeke still doing well w/some friends we gave him too...and yes the pound was not happy, but he was far more spoiled this way...

As to Columbia, MD, I am from Pikesville originally..

Chuck:cool1:

I haven't been to Pikesville in a while. . Our DS 5 is named Mason as well!

Anyone doing the Golden Catamaran @ 8:15am in St. Marteen? We just signed up!

Hey Iceman...I lived in Pikesville for about 2 months in '95 while I worked in the virology lab at the Red Cross on Mount Hope Dr. That lab was in the process of consolidating with the Philly lab, so I took a better job in Oak Ridge, TN. It's a small world:)

--Awesome! We live near Long Reach, a few streets over from Tamar. It's a quiet neighborhood that is tucked away from the main drag. So, you will be on the Turkey Cruise? We have a DS-8 1/2 and DS-5. Exciting to have someone so close!

That is exciting. We were in Columbia last Sunday. Our daughter lives off of Tamar - with her DH and her 3 yr old. If you were coming from 175 she lives the next street past Phelps Luck. Perhaps, we could meet up soon so the DSs can meet each other. My DS would love that.

What a difference between a pomeranian and a black lab. Sorry about Mason's allergies. I'm sure I've asked you before - where about in Pikesville did you grow up? I grew up off Milford Mill Rd and went to Milford.

I think that is High Tor- my DS 8, Carter goes to Phelps Luck Elem. That would be great if we could meet up, so they could talk, and we could meet, too! I have to post two more times, to post an e-mail, so give me a couple of min.

Scullysiz,
My DS 5 is Grayson. There is going to be a lot of confusion in the kid's club:)

That is too funny! I love that name, too! We gotta make it a little challenging for the counselors.

Our connecting roommates are from Canton, GA. How far is that from you?

Lynn - I am so sorry to hear about your furry baby. They are family members too.

We used to live in Columbia too! - in a little 2 street community off of 108 called Waterford Park. We loved it there but dh wanted to get farther east and closer to the water - and i wanted to be closer to grandparents for babysitting. We moved in 2000 when ds9 was 10 days old. Which leads me to a completely unrelated tip -Never move with a 10 day old.

Oh - and I have to update my ticker dd turned 12 today!

Just chiming in from the weekend....

Was having a great, quiet, relaxing weekend when I came home yesterday to find my 12 year old Australian Shepherd struggling to breath. Of course my DH was gone on his motorcycle and the vet wasn't open. I had to rush him to the emergency animal hospital in the next county. I had decided on the way that this was it and I didn't want him to suffer anymore:sad1:. Once they gave him a sedative to try to relax him, his poor heart just stopped. I had him for almost 13 years and he was my baby long before I had kids. My heart is broken right now and I definitely need this cruise to help me get through the day! I was so tired of crying last night and I kept telling myself "think about the cruise" over and over again to get my mind off of it. Sorry to post a sad note, but my heart is definitely heavy today.:sad2:

Lynn

Lynn,
So sorry about your Shepherd.

Happy B-day to DD12! Small World (it's a small world afterall. .:rolleyes1 ) sorry couldn't resist. Looks like we will have kids in the Oceaneer clubs together. How far east are you?

Lynn,

Big Hugs! So sorry to hear about your loss. Many prayers and pixie dust heading your way. When I lost my poor Kramer after 13 years, I made a little scrapbook of all the photos I had of him through the years. My DD and I look at it often. We cry and we laugh and we cherish our memories.

Moving with a 10 day old -- what were you thinking!

Then again, we moved away from Columbia when DS9 was 2 and that was bad too. DH would come home from work and ask why I hadn't packed anything. My response was "you pack with a 2 yr old - for every 2 things I would put in a box, he would take out 5."

Happy birthday to your DD! Hope she had a special day.

:scared1: We moved when Andrew was 5. I thought I was going to lose my mind! I can't imagine moving with a 2 year old...or an infant. Now, if we moved today, it would be great....Andrew could carry his own stuff (and mine too!).

Well...back to the HUD 202 applications. I dove in over the weekend and it's official....there will be no sleep between now and November 1 for me!

Hey, we're getting close to 2400. By the way...I thought I read where someone posted only 7 more sailings until the Magic is ours. I looked tonight and I think it's actually 10...but 10 is better than it was 2 years ago!

Karen -

DS9 wanted me to tell you that he liked your ticker.

He posted on the kids thread for the first time tonight.

I grew up in Summit Park and went there for elem school before switching to Boys Latin...NW slightly of Greenspring and Smith...my parents still live in Greene Tree on Hooks lane between Park Hgts and Reistertown Road and my sister and her family are in Owings Mills...but I also have several friends in the Columbia area too

I can totally relate to moving with a little one. We moved 4 times (work moves) before DS turned 2. Then we moved less than a month after he turned 2. It seems weird that we have actually been here for 3 1/2 years.

We live maybe an hour north of the Florida state line. Canton is just north of Atlanta, so that is probably 4 1/2 or 5 hours away (tops).

Lynn, I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog.

Let's hope today is a better day than yesterday. :sad2: At least we are one day closer to cruising!!!! :cool1:

Well, we have the first confirmed case of swine flu at the University where I work and we've been told to expect many more! The University has put out hand sanitizers everywhere in the last week or so and people are actually using them which is good.

I feel really bad for the student. Apparently, it's a freshman (poor baby -- away from home, sick and likely homesick now too). The student has been moved to a dorm suite that was established to help keep things confined and out of the general population. The student is receiving special care from a team of health care folks including meals delivered -- but I'm sure they'd prefer to have their mom (and her chicken soup instead of Bon Appetit)!

Stay well everyone. I know I'm trying!
