Turkey Day Gang 2009

Thanks Lisa, I almost forgot about REAS packages. I will look into that. Hi again Priscilla and Rob. Yes, I remember everyone. I showed my fiancee the picture of the Ron Bon Jovies!!! She laughed so hard. She got to see what Lampy looks like!!! Hope I didn't scare her away!!!:rotfl2: I am excited to see everyone again.

Lisa - I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's dad. Getting old really stinks and watching it happen is so hard. It makes me appreciate the time I have with my parents. I'm really glad they are able to do things like this cruise with us.

On a lighter note. Jodie for you - And I raaaa-aaa-aann. I ran so far a-waaaa-yyyyy. I met dh in 83. Those were good days. *sigh*

Still reading the 2005 trip report. It sounds like it was soooo much fun. I love the matching t-shirt idea. Last cruise we went on I made our group wear the same thing every day. 1st day we wore matching disney hawiian prints. Then it was red top & denim bottoms, then green top & black bottoms, anyway you get the idea. Ever since that trip Bil is still convinced I'm not quite right in the head, but whatever, I can live with that. It made for great pictures.

I am curious if anyone else is doing the early dinner seating, it sounds like everyone is late. I thought the idea of linking tables sounded like fun and I'll see what I can do with the early seating if there is any one besides my group doing that. We have requested the F3 seating which is the 1st seating but the 3rd slot so it was at 6pm rather than 5:30 or 5:45.

And lastly - does anyone know if this cruise is booked? I went on line to try to pull up what a 4 person cabin would cost today b/c jeniamt mentioned her mom rebooked someone in a room after someone else in their party cancelled, and I've been talking to people to take my bil's room, but when I try to pull it up it says there are no vacation dates available. I was just trying to tell people what they could save if they booked bil's room with my on board booking discount, but I can't seem to get it to work.

I was able to link all of our ressies with my "girlfriend". We wanted the rotation that gave us Parrot Cay on pirate night and Luminares on Thanksgiving....Just seemed the thing to be dressed up on Turkeyday....BTW I ALWAYS tell this story when people ask about late and early....On our second sailing we had just got back from a GREAT day of shore excursions and I had a beverage in my hand heading to the internet cafe to check on DDs when I heard a bunch of people yelling and running down the stairs, yep, G-parents , husband, wife and kids....Mom yelling "hurry up we are going too be late!" Dont know about you but 2 teen girls and my DW....there is a LOT of "stuff" going on prior to dinner.....:rotfl2: Also remember, 1 time zone to Florida for us and 2 more changes on the eastern sailing, so 5:30 is 2:30...8"30 is 5:30 for us FYI

Hi everyone, it's Charles. I was on the Turkey cruise in 2005 with my then wife, Maria. My soon-to-be new wife will be on the cruise, well it will be our honeymoon. We are getting married October 24, 2009. It will be great to see everyone again. I will be checking in here quite a bit now that we have reservations. We will be on deck 2. This will be April's, my fiancee, first cruise. Please be kind to the newbie.

Question: Is there still an 80's night? That was so much fun when some you went up on stage. I still have the pix from that cruise.

You sure you want to expose her to this that early?

What do you mean we have time zone changes? I didn't realize that. Can you tell I don't get out much? ;) When does it happen? just Tuesday & Wednesday? Hmm. Just checked a time zone map. It looks like the islands are in the Atlantic time zone. That's just 1 hour off for us on Eastern. No that must be wrong. Its daylight savings by then so it really is 2 hrs?

Ah -so unless I find myself a "boyfriend" we may be out of luck for linking the earlier seating. Bummer. But if the early eaters all request the F3 seating at 6 then at least we'd all be in the same restaurant. I'm not really particular on where I eat as long as I get to eat on time.:thumbsup2

Laura,

Congratulations to the Steelers. I had hoped for the Cardinals...but alas, it wasn't to be! It sure was a heck of a game though...right 'til the very end!

Karen

It was a good game, but way too close for me during that last quarter! :faint:

That's understandable, Rob. We Steeler fans always cheer for whoever is playing the Cowboys. :rotfl2:

Doesn't everyone root for whoever is playing the Cowboys!!!!! (Sorry Rob! And yes, I know I live in the home of the St. Louis Lambs...maybe a new coach will help...but I don't think so. The Lambs are just dysfunctional...which is why most people are baseball and hockey fans here!)

Karen

Yes Lampy, I want to let her see the great group of people I have sailed with before. I have told her A LOT about this group!! So be prepared to answer questions!!!

If I remember It was Monday (could have been Tuesday)and wednesday, and we are centreal so we have one between here and Florida....We just preferred "dressing up" on Thanksgiving and having it be on a "formal night".
And when I have called my "girlfriend" she has been able to set us up. The more you link with the better the odds of getting it done

I have no idea which dining we have (though I'm guessing late) nor which rotation. How do I find out?

Karen

I guess that I will be sitting alone Thanksgiving day in Diversions watching my boys play:happytv: and to think I was going to buy the beer for ALL my fellow cowboy fans:rotfl2:

Well, some of us may drop in and root for whoever is playing against "your boys" (unless by some oddity it's the Lambs...and then I'll root for anyone!). Though I will admit to being a long-standing Packers fan!

Pitchers and Catchers report on 2/14!!!!!!! Sigh...thank goodness baseball (and warm weather) is almost here!

I only know about the seating b/c I asked a lot of questions when I booked on our cruise last January. I"ll try to explain what I remember.

You will know if you have early or late seating by checking with your travel agent now. But they break the early and late seatings down into 3 seatings each - and stagger each restaurant by 15 minutes so that its not a total mob scene. You know for sure what you have when you see your KTTW card at port the day we sail. F1= 5:30, F2=5:45, F3=6:00 for first seating. I guess they use S1,2,3 for second seating? I don't know though because I ate early. And as to which restaurant when? I have no clue.

Unfortunately I was told that I was not guaranteed the seating I requested b/c the head waiter sits down with everyone's requests about a month in advance (once we've all paid and they know who's going) and checks everyone's requests and accomodates what he can and sets the rotations. I guess we won't know for sure that we have the seating we want until we get our KTTW card at the port. (Or unless we can find lampskies' girlfriend....)

Thanks Paula. I know we requested 2nd seating. It gives us more time to do stuff during the day.
