Turkey Day Gang 2009

Whew! It's been so long since I've been here that I "forgot" my DIS password and almost got locked out! Yikes!

I'm here to ask the seasoned T'giving travelers about your cruise flights and MCO. Last time we cruised was Jan/Feb 2008 -- no special weekend. The MCO airport was horrible! :scared: We waited 1 hour (almost to the minute) in the security line, so I'm a little freaked out about what it'll be like T-giving weekend. We plan to fly in Fri 11/20 and leave Sat 11/28. Fares seem lower in/out of other FL airports, and I'm curious what your experiences have been.

Has anyone booked flights yet? We typically fly Southwest because they are direct, but I'm concerned about waiting until May or so for their T'giving schedule to open. Opinions? Advice? Whatever you can offer is appreciated!

ALSO, we have early dining, but I did not request a certain rotation or seating time.

AND, I just added REAS since we'll be celebrating our 16th anniv. onboard.

Getting very excited!!! TIA for your words of wisdom! :)

I am very sure Ron!!! If you didn't scare me away, then you surely won't scare her away!!!

We usually fly in Thursday or Friday before the sailing (Chicago weather), we stayed at DWD the first 7 sailings and Coco beach last time (loved it!). As far as waiting time @ MCO we never had a problem, we always fly out on Saturday after the sailing, as a matter of fact our flights are typically around 11 and we have no problem getting there checking in and boarding. We usually fly air tran out of indy or chicago and dont book 'till aug or sept. You can't "request" a dining rotation until about 2 weeks prior to sailing.....they will tell you they will "put the request in but wont guarentee it".

At first glance, before I realized you were the Village People, I thought you were reinacting The Full Monty. Now THAT would be a Disney show worth seeing!! :lmao:

Same with us. 2 inches here. 12 to the west.
GO NASCAR!!

I agree, TGIF. I need to get more sleep:rotfl2:

Why can't 11/21 get here quicker?!?!?

Charlie

50's today and 60's tomorrow.....spring fever is here!

Hey Ron, 80 for St. Thomas. Wouldn't you like to be there?:cool1:

I think it is going to be 74 here.

Charlie

Isn't it funny how warm 40 degrees feels when you've been below zero! Early in the week it was about 8 degrees...then Thursday (I think) it got to abour 40 degrees and we were all running around without coats. When it got to 70 on Friday the students (I work at a university) were building snowmen with the snow left in the shadows of buildings while wearing shorts and t-shirts!

Glad it's above freezing for you Lisa. I just want the cold to be over. I am SO ready for spring.

Karen

It's the opposite here in Florida. When the temperature is below 70, people bring out the winter clothes!!

On another note, in addition to the Turkey Magic cruise we are looking for a summer vacation idea. We saw the ad for the Nick Family Cruise on RCCL Freedom of the Seas. Any experience with this trip or ship?

Thanks!!

Lisa

I finally had my baby! Went into labor during the Super Bowl... to the great dismay of DH. I just had to point out that if I was to get pregnant today and knowing that this last pregnancy was exactly 9 months, 1 week and 4 days... I would be giving birth on departure day. :rotfl2: So glad I'm not having any more kids! But it does put the trip in perspective... its exactly the length of my gestation!! It will be here before we know it. :yay:

Congratulations!!!!

Boy or Girl?
Name?

If the photo is the new baby what a lovely baby (and I'd guess boy)!

Thanks! Yes, that is him in the picture and we named him Cameron Scott. And it is because of him we had to book a second room. We've been booked since January '08 and of course I wasn't pregnant then. When I found out I was pregnant I just assumed that since he would still be baby and he wouldn't need a bed we could just add him to our room. Boy was I wrong. Oh well, he's worth it! Of course it was a little surreal to book a room for a person that hadn't been born and didn't have a name. Feels like those parents in big cities that have to apply for nursery school as soon as they find out they are pregnant.

Oh, and I should mention... the rest of our group is booked for the early dinner and the new room is booked for the late dinner. Hopefully we can get that fixed. Has anyone had any luck switching dinner times? We listed just two of us in the new room, one adult and one child.
