Help!! My turkey is too big to fit into my roasting pan:eek: It seriously looked like an elephant in a bathtub!! Can the pan insert of an electric roaster go into the oven???? I usually use an electric roaster but I decided to do it different this year. When I realized that my pan wasn't going to work I had dh get the electric roaster from the attic. Everything was fine...added all the aromatics and seasoning...and then the top wouldn't go on the big ole thing!!! I just picked the whole thing up out of the roaster and put it in the oven. Rationally I know that if the thing if made to withstand the heat of the electric oven it should be fine....but I'm still paranoid that my house is going to burn down. Reassurance....Please!!!!!!!!

What kind of material is it made out of?

Okay...let me get this straight/...you were going to do it in the oven but the cover won't fit? We always just just foil....

I was going to say the same thing, just use foil for the cover.

Sorry if I'm not clear....I guess I'm panicking LOL. The cover to the electric roasting oven wouldn't fit..the turkey is too big. If the cover wouldn't fit it wouldn't hold any heat. The insert to the electric oven looks cast iron...it lifts out of the electric roaster for cleaning. I have that...with the turkey...uncovered in the regular oven now. I just need to know if that is okay. Hope I'm clear now.

What is the roaster insert made of? Do you have the box or the instruction book? If not, check online for the brand and see if the insert is oven safe.

I looked it up on the Rival website. The online owners manual says do not put in oven...but it reads like they mean do not put the whole electric part in the oven...or maybe I'm misunderstanding. The insert is made out of enamel on steel. It looks and feels just like the pan that's too small. Uggg...maybe I need to find an open store. My mom is using her roasting pan.

Ok, going out on a limb here, but I bet it's fine. My regular oven roasting pan is that enamel on steel stuff. Plus, you arent leaving home, ofcourse, while cooking.....you'd be there if it started to smoke, etc.

Disclaimer: I am not a turkey roasting expert - I've had some disasters, but not related to my enamel on steel pan! LOL :lmao:

Goodluck!
