Anyone have anything they mix with tuna other than mayo? My 16 month old is allergic to eggs so she can't have it. Its so dry I want to mix it with something for her.

Thanks!

Italian dressing or sweet onion vinagrette are both very good on tuna. So is sesame asian dressing.

I've done tuna with Italian dressing mixed with pasta and it is great!

Chopped olives and a little of the brine (jar juice). Add a little olive oil if it still seems dry, then season with pepper - you don't need any salt. The fish and olive brine is salty.

If you want to get fancy, fresh chopped parsley is :woohoo:

I had a pasta salad made with vegan mayonaisse. It was good! (Can you tell I was surprised?)
Vegans don't use animal products, so there's no eggs in their mayo. Just a suggestion for future diet choices if your DD is allergic to eggs.

I forgot to post that my kids like tuna with I add and egg and a little bread crumbs and then fry it in a pan in patties. They love those!

you can get vegan mayo (aka no eggs)
actually it tastes ok

Bicks makes a Zesty Onion Relish which is very yummy and then I also add some whole grain mustard.

When my son was allergic to eggs I used to use Nayonaisse which is soy-based mayo and had no eggs. That was many years ago and I believe the selection of no-egg mayo is much more varied. I would try something like that. I also mix mustard in with my tuna for some zing but I don't think I would want want all mustard. So, I would get some no-egg mayo and throw some mustard it and it will be very good.

I'm going to try the dressing and mustard and see which I can get her to eat since I have those in the house. I have never looked for egg free mayo but I really have to take a ride to Whole Foods to look for more options for her. Its about 40 minutes so I haven't gotten there yet.

Thanks!

I'm a big fan of Vegenaise. I can get it at some of the regular grocery stores in my city, as well as the natural foods store.

Their home page has a "find a store" option, but I don't know how accurate it is, since it didn't list a couple of the places near me that I know carry it. Here's the link anyway -

If all you have had is tuna from a can do yourself a favor and get a tuna steak. It can be grilled, broiled, or pan seared but the best tuna is seared on the outside and still almost raw but warm in the middle.

Once you have real tuna the canned stuff becomes inedible.

I use plain yogurt instead of mayo. Otherwise I make it the same as most people do (pickel relish, finely diced red onion, dash of cumin, sometimes a boild egg, etc).

What about mixing a little yogurt with it if you want some type of creamy sauce? They make the unflavored kind. I like Mrs. Dash, garlic and onion powder or seasoning salt. My kids love pasta salad and olive oil and vinegar mixed in. Also, a chopped, hard boiled egg is good in it, with cheese melted on top (tuna melt).

My friend uses plain ff yogurt and a little spicey mustard in hers.

.

This sounds really good!! I might have to try this for lunch tomorrow!!

Similar to the plain yogurt would be a little sour cream with some onion, celery and seasonings...

I see you are from NJ...My Shoprite carries egg free mayo. The brand is "Follow your Heart". Try yours...I would go to customer service and they will tell you if and where they have it so you are not searching too much.
