I am an adult...or at least I play one on these boards...:rotfl::rotfl2:
Last Fri, Oct 9th I became ill with a stomach bug .. .I havent thrown up at all, but have the gas and intestine gurgling etc and joys that accompany that gross scene, and Im barely eating,,(just ginger ale crackers soup and the like since Oct 9th)
I have a fever on and off and am tired, and my stomach hurts. Really hurts...Nausea, growlin gurgling tummy and headache for SEVEN days so far -and we leave for Disney in SIX days! Yesterday I went to the Dr to be sure its not the flu of ANY kind, Dr says its NOT ANY FLU, its a stomach bug, and says to let it run its course, (and no Im not pg, wishfull thinking on our part:rolleyes1)Dr gave me no meds, says try Pepto Bismal. YUK.
I feel like crap and I would love some tummy remedies and advice. :3dglasses

Whenever my kids have a stomach bug the doctor always recommends the BRATT diet. It works for adults too.

B= Bananas (a little bit at a time)
R= Rice (light on the tummy but stops the gurgling and helps with diarhea)
A= Apples (light on the tummy and the sweet taste helps with nausea)
T= Tea (hot or iced but, little bits at a time. helps with dehydration)
T= Toast (light on the tummy but helps with nausea)

*Tea is better if it's decaf because caffeine is a diuretic(makes you pee alot) and you don't want to become dehydrated.

Hope this helps, feel better soon!

Do you still have a gallbladder? If you eat anything with fat in it does it make you feel "extra-bad"?

My husband had your symptoms, and when he finally told me I made him see a specialist. Needless to say he had his gallbladder removed, and felt great. He never said anything but was walking around like that miserable for about 18 months!!!! (He has 3 graduate degrees- so silly me I thought he was capable of being responsible for his own medical issues).

Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly--it sucks to be sick!

Ok, I swear by Pepto and can drink it straight out of the bottle. If you don't like the liquid perhaps try the chewable tablets.

But the best thing for your stomach/digestive tract is probiotics. If you can get it down yogurt can be a big help. I'd go for the plain or french vanilla variety, but a flavor will do if that's what you need.

Our family loves drinking Kefir - a drinkable 'yogurt' made my Lifeway. It has way more probiotics than a regular yoplait or dannon yogurt. I find it at my regular grocery store but you can definitely get it as a Whole Foods type grocery store.

Hope you feel better and I'm sure it will have run it's course before you leave! :wizard:

I don't want to alarm you, but you might want to see a doc who will test your...errr.."output" if you know what I mean.

I had a similar problem before I left for our first trip to WDW as a couple. I went to a clinic who took samples a few days before our trip, but since the results wouldn't be back before then, they gave me Cipro to fight any infection I might be having. I stocked up on OTC meds to get me through the plane ride, but overall felt much better. While I was on the trip, doc called to say I had had food poisoning, Campylobacter jejuni, and to switch to a different med. My symptoms had been relatively mild for food poisoning (i.e. no vomiting, and had lasted for over a week before I saw them, so they didn't suspect food poisoning at first). I told him I was feeling better and didn't have an easy way to pick up a new RX, so would just let it be. Biiiig mistake. I took it easy at first food wise, but had my first regular full meal two days into the trip at, of all places, Brown Derby. Talk about a waste of the price of a steak. That night, well, lets just say those turbo toilets kept the entire portion of my building awake. It was way worse than I'd been before the trip, and I thought I was going to die on the bathroom floor (or at least I felt like I wanted to!). Needless to say, we spent the last 3 days of our trip in the room at POFQ.

If you don't want to go back to the doc, or if they've already ruled this out, I would do as suggested from a PP and stick to the BRAT. And stay very, very hydrated.
