DW Lauri and I went to our local Disney Store last night for the pin trading. Unfortunately we couldn't stay but about half an hour since we were going to see Monsters Inc. at 8.

One CM, Wendy, was the designated trader. Her lanyard had a lot of the new store pins from previous weeks and one Goofy flex pin. She had a small black table rolled out for traders to set bags and binders on. The only other trader while we were there was a little girl (about 7) with her parents and two brothers (who were occupying themselves and weren't seen much). She had her binder and was missing all of the first week pins. She had quite a few of the other DS pins for traders, and between Lauri and Wendy, she managed to fill a LOT of gaps in her collection.

We also showed them some of the pins in our trader bag, answered a few questions for the little girl and the CM, traded a few other pins to the little girl, and I traded a Scrooge WDW rack pin onto Wendy's lanyard to give it a little variety.

All in all, we had a good time. It was like being back at the WOD, but without the dorsal fins. :) I may have to see if I can get off work more Tuesday nights for the trading.

Re: you Leonard Pitts quote.

I tend to rarely agree w/ anything he writes, but I like reading him because he writes well. I hadn't read this particular line. It's really good. Thanks for posting it.

Another good week was had in Paramus Park. Vonnie is a wonderful CM to be the key person in this store. She makes it fair, informative, and fun for all, newbies and experienced traders alike. Vonnies lanyard contained mostly new DS pins, but as the evening went along had a nice mix of the 101 millenium pins and WDW pins. We stayed the entire two hours, in fact Vonnie kicked about 5 of us out at closing. On average I would say there were 10 or so collectors/traders there at all times. And happy to report no sharks stayed in the water, swimming was safe! I was able to make a few good trades with other collectors, and got a few DS pins I needed.

I went to our DS and I was the only one there to trade. They only had week one pins but I traded for 2 #7's and a #8 which was sold out when I got there. I had with me 2 of the WTC pins that I had gotten for someone who changed their mind. The CM's at the store took them off my hands quite easily.

Only two of us showed up for trading last night. I traded one WDW rack pin for the B/W Mickey & Minnie's Gala Event pin. I don't know if the other Guest traded or not. We could sure use some variety on the lanyard at our TDS. :( I'm working on some trades with the other Guest though. :bounce:

I keep thinking others local pin traders will show up -- but they are rare.
I did trade for a first week Tigger and an Atlantis, just to put something different (non-TDS) on a lanyard.
I figure either way, I have WDW traders for January.
