Hi all!! After several days of TSS issues with their website, they are up and running today (Sunday, Aug.14th)!!!

AND, after months of patiently waiting, I finally found the points & resort I was looking for, and was 1st to get the contract!!!

I am so excited!! We only wanted to start with small amount of points, then add small contracts to it as we can afford it. We wanted Old Key West, and got it with banked points!! We are actually going in Oct. and staying at OKW with rented points from DIS member. I am sure we will like it.

A couple of questions.

1. How long has it been taking to pass ROFR lately??
2. What is the process for buying Annual Passes? (we are going on the MYW + free dining, and want to use the $$ from the passes we bought towards AP with DVC discount...is this possible? Or do you have to order them through the mail? )
3. Do you think I can get through ROFR and get owner doc's before our Trip Oct. 3rd?

Thanks for all the help!
I'm only doing a little dance until we pass ROFR.... :cool1:

1. How long has it been taking to pass ROFR lately??
A few people recently have passed ROFR in a week. It took us a little over two weeks, but they'll tell you that it normally takes three weeks. Check this thread to see what's been happening with ROFR recently.

2. What is the process for buying Annual Passes? (we are going on the MYW + free dining, and want to use the $$ from the passes we bought towards AP with DVC discount...is this possible? Or do you have to order them through the mail? )
You can order them through Member Services, or you can buy them in person at WDW by showing your DVC membership card.

3. Do you think I can get through ROFR and get owner doc's before our Trip Oct. 3rd?
You might get your membership finalized, but you may not be able to get a room with your DVC points. We made our offer in late June and our membership just came through last week. We're also going down on October 3. I called as soon as I could and was able to rebook 5 days at SSR, but not the entire vacation. We actually haven't gotten our paperwork yet, but I've been calling my guide and member services and I found out everything was finalized last Friday.

Sounds wonderful! Congratulations - I can feel your excitment all the way in Shoreview, MN, LOL!

Can't help with #1 or #3, but I'm sure others can.

Yes, you can use the passes you bought with your MYW package to upgrade to a DVC -discounted AP. You'll need to do it on site at one of the Guest Relations offices (at the mjor parks or DD) after you check in and get your MYW passes.

You need to have your DVC ID and a photo ID to buy the discounted APs. I don't think you will have your blue card before your October trip, so call MS and ask for a temporary card when you get in the system and ask about it.

I hope you're talking about two separate trips, because these two ideas are mutually exclusive. You can't get the MYW + free dining staying on points.
3. Do you think I can get through ROFR and get owner doc's before our Trip Oct. 3rd?
That is going to be pretty difficult, I would think. As noted above, the ROFR process seems to have speeded up a little recently, but it usually takes about 3 weeks, and some have waited more than a month.

After ROFR, you can plan on a minimum of two weeks prior to closing -- a lot of which depends on how quickly Disney processes the estoppel letter, and that's out of everybody's control. "Expedited closing" will probably save you a little time, so you may want to consider that. It may also help if your TTS agent lets the seller know you are right up against a timeline, and encourages them to expedite the paperwork as much as they can.

After closing, it usually takes 7-10 working days for you to actually get "in the system," where you are actually in control of the account and get all the benefits of that.

Good Luck!

I really appreciate all your kind thoughts for this "hopefully soon to be DVC owner."

To clarify, the trip we are taking in Oct. we already have a 10 day stay at POP and a 4 day stay at OKW (split stay..4 days at POP will be empty) and 1 day MYW ticket. So I definitely don't need a room with the DVC points:rotfl2:.

Also, I can positively "cash in" our MYW 1 day ticket and buy discounted AP's at the resort right? How do I do this and where? Just show my ID and the DVC ID :confused3 I'm sorry to ask this twice, but I don't want to lose the $260 already paid and want to take any precautions necessary.

I sincerely hope all goes quickly and quietly (no ROFR if you're reading this Disney :goodvibes ) and we will make it just in time to take advantage of the perks of being a member.

You're all the best, thanks!!

You can't buy APs or PAPs at the resorts. You have to go to one of the major parks or Downtown Disney. You're going to need your DVC membership card. If you haven't closed on your contract and aren't in the system, you are not going to be able to get the discounted AP. If you are in the system before your trip, you might be able to get a temporary membership card from MS. You'll have to call and ask about that after you are in the system.

Best wishe s-

Congrats LionQueen!!
It's exciting isn't it! :cheer2: We just sent in our deposit on OKW and we're awaiting the ROFR as well. I don't have the added pressure of trying to get some of the perks so soon though. That has to be a little worrisome. We don't anticipate rofr to be over 'til 1st week of oct (the long range). Now I'm trying to talk DH into quick trip over spring break  (yes I know popular time-but not for us our SB is 1st week of mar)
Again congrats!! I'm sending lots of pixie dust :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: your way for a speedy rofr.

Thanks for letting me share :flower:
Our contract is for 25 points @ OKW (our resort of choice, love queen beds)
25 currently available and 25 coming 3/1/06
March use year
$80 per point.

We want to buy points in as small a lot as possible (easier financially and resell quickerl) and will add on 25 per year for a couple of years. I am sure I will get "add-on-itis" as I hear there is an outbreak on the Disboards :rotfl2: So getting in with 25 points is just perfect for us.

Thanks again for all the Pixie Dust, will hopefully pass ROFR...will keep you posted.

Sounds like a great contract, and looks like it should pass ROFR to me.

One thing I'd suggest is have the owner bank those points for you ASAP. Your 100% banking window expires at the end of August.

As soon as they accept the offer, have them bank.

# 1 Our paperwork was submitted on July 29th and we received the call that we passed on Aug 9th. We recieved our closing papers within 2 days. Hope everything moves along quickly for you.

Thanks for the great tips!! I wanted to know what the 100% banking window is. Can you explain what would happen if this window is missed? I will take care of this right away once I understand it better.

I've seen a lot of your posts and you seem like the most insightful. I appreciate your replies!! :wave2:

In the first 6 months of your Use Year you can bank 100% of your points.

For the next 3 months you can only bank 50%, and that's a cumulative 50%. If you had banked 50% or more in the first 6 months, you could not bank any additional points in the subsequent 3 months.

Then, in the 10th month of your UY, you can bank 25% of your points.

In months 11 and 12, no banking is permitted.

In your case, if all 25 points are not banked prior to 8/31, you'll be restricted to banking only 12 or 13 of the points from 9/1 to 11/30. Points that are not banked or used by 2/28/06 are simply forfeit.

To add to others comments regarding the entire closing process, bear in mind that you are subject to the whims of the seller as well. For whatever reason, some sellers don't appear to be in any real hurry to complete the process, dragging it out for weeks on end. Hopefully that won't happen in your situation.

Just wanted to clarify something. You are purchasing 25 points & it is your first purchase into DVC? That means that the minimum150 points that buying through disney is not true for resales? Somehow I completely missed that! That sounds great for you--hope all goes well! Deb

A question for all of you much more knowledgeable than I....
Since LionQueen purchased only 25, and this is her 1st buy into DVC does she get all the member benefits??? :confused3 I thought that disney recognized you at the 50 point level and above. Please correct me if I'm way off!!!
I really hope I'm mistaken for her sake! :)

She's a member just like the rest of us! Disney only sells new contracts at 150 points or higher, but if you snag a smaller one, they welcome you home!

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we did not get this OKW contract. It was just the absolute wrong time and nothing fell into place.

On a positive note, we are now proud owners @ Saratoga Springs! Agonized over losing this contract for weeks, but now it appears to have happened for a reason.

With the new price incentive, we only paid $3.30 more for Saratoga Springs than we would have for OKW. We really wanted OKW as our home resort, but the other advantages of owning at Saratoga made it work perfect for us.

Thanks to everyone for their posts and opinions, it definitely helped us during this confusing DVC time. Luckily, that time is passed. Now only 49 years of Disney vacations to plan....a Virgo heaven :teeth:

Congrats and welcome home! We own at BCV, OKW and now SSR (just bought into SSR yesterday). We are very pleased with how SSR is coming along and don't think you'll be disappointed.
